wayne152
My friend has lent me his copy of GTA IV as I wanted to see how it ran on my computer before I went out and bought it (already have it on 360) but for some reason the installer wont even start. Im running Vista x64 ultimate and I get the following error message when I try and start the setup: 'The program or feature "E:\RGSC\setup.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available.' Now I thought GTA IV was actually optimized to run on 64 bit O.S, so does anyone know why im getting this error message and is there anything I can do to get around it? ikt
I can install it. Try running the installer as admin, or if you already do, use compatibility modfe.
mustardnick
hmm that doesn't make sense at all considering a lot of people who play this game use 64-bit. I have home premium 64-bit and it works fine. It might be a probem with the disc you could post your specs and I'll tell you if you can run and predict what framrate you'll get but would have to by a disc that's new. RebelX
That's weird, I got it to work on my Vista Ultimate 64-bit. It probably might not help, but try updating all your drivers and stuff like that. You could also give us the specs of your PC and we can tell you about how well you can run the game and at what settings.
Standart
I searched google about this, and seems that pirated GTA IV has this. Are you sure you bought the game? Can you post any pics with the game and your nickname next to it?
wayne152
I searched google about this, and seems that pirated GTA IV has this. Are you sure you bought the game? Can you post any pics with the game and your nickname next to it? Well its not a legit copy, my mate downloaded it to see if it would work on his rig (he has a 9600gt and I wasnt sure if that card would run it with good frames), he has since told me it did run and he then managed to scored it for £24 (not sure what frames he is getting though). So he lent it me so I could so the same thing but ive run in to this problem. He has Vista x86 not x64. If this problem is indeed due to it being pirated then it looks like I wont be able to try before I buy, here are my system specs: AMD Phenom II 720 @ 3.5ghz 4gb DDRII 800 RAM (4 4 4 12) Sapphire Radeon 4870 1GB 1440x900 native monitor resolution So with these system specs + screen res what settings could I run the game on? Dont really want to drop below 30 fps.
anus
At that res, you could max out the game.
GTA_Vista
Dont expect people to give you any kind of support mate when youre openly admitting youre using a pirated copy, you deserve it not to work. Try buying your own copy and youll get all the support you need.
CharmingCharlie
Well if it isn't a legit copy then we can't help you here, thanks for destroying the PC gaming industry just that little bit more.
