Myggen
Is there anybody out there that managed to have a completely modded game without crashes? By completely modded i mean all cars have been changed, and maybe some map mods also Is it possible at all to replace all vehicles, and have a game that never crash? Yes, I do. So yes, it is possible. Depending on how old / weak your system is, it can sometimes come to lags/crashes. It also depends on how big the .dff and .txd files are / how many polygons the 3D model of the vehicle has / how high the quality of the in the .txd file(s) existing images are. supermortalhuman
If you want to replace every car in GTA, I suggest you open GTA.dat add a new linke to point to a new vehicles.img and delete all the vehicles from the IMG (after extracting them). REBUILD gta3.img (spark won't do for this task!) and then of course place your vehicles backups into the new vehicles.img. Now, whenever you mod a car, have a SECOND copy of you "vehicle DFF and TXD" folder and drop mods in there - now make a NEW img every time you add more. Myggen
Mr.Anonymous: Ok, it sounds good, i have a new pc so thats good, but some of my cars are pretty big, specially a truck i havew wich is the MAZ 642205 (dff: 13.2 mb txd: 1.1 mb), but i can spawn 10 of those if i want to with no problems. Also: I noticed that CLEO mods can make it crash too, specially if i for example put in the Homer Simpson mod http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=6305 and put in the CLEO file, but forget to put in the dff and txd files totally freeze and have to restart pc if gta killer is not open But also when everything seems to be perfectly installed it can crash, is there a maximum of CLEO scripts that can be added? I have about 80 CLEO scipts added at the moment, and non of em should use the same keys for activation, so that shouldnt be a problem. supermortalhuman: Hmm ok, thats sounds interesting, i think i will look into that, but should that make the risk of chashing smaller?
