lil weasel
I've played the game some 25+ times to completion. During the Breaking the Bank mission I have easily completed it . BUT, I have Never been able to parachute to the waiting Helo regardless of the variations I've tried. How many of you people get the chute and actually make it to that choppers roof? Any trick to it? (What am I missing?) Thanks Zoom-Zoom you're always perfect! Anyone else having trouble making it to the roof by parachute? zmoonchild
It’s actually very easy to get to the Police Maverick: Before you jump, make sure that the Parachute icon is pictured in the weapon-slot in the top right corner of the screen, if not, then Carl will fall straight down to the ground when he jumps off of Caligula’s rooftop. When you jump off of the roof, just use the techniques that were taught in the Parachute onto Target test in Pilot School, then you’ll glide over to the other rooftop where the Police Maverick is located. Make sure to open the Parachute when you close enough. Here a video demonstration: GTA_Phreak is the one who taught me how to do it.
Flesh-n-Bone
It is actually pretty easy to get to the rooftop with the Police Maverick on it. First snipe the two SWAT guys like Zoom's video shows, then with the parachute continue going forward and when you're close to the roof with the heli open the 'chute and there is it ready for you to take. Sometimes I have opened it so late that I've missed the roof and landed on the roof that is below it, but if you pass that very roof just jump off your parachute and you'll land there without losing much health. Boris_Chavez
Interesting - but my experience is different. Until the last time I played this mission I too had never got to the Police Maverick, but this time I was really surprised to get there. I'd sniped the two bogeys standing next to it while still on Caligula's roof, and had also taken out the attacking heli. By jumping, immediately opening the chute and pulling up I made it to the Maverick - just. Trying this before always ended up landing on the ground and having to escape by driving. Will have to try zmoonchild's method - hadn't thought of it as I'd assumed doing that would have lost far too much height.
Blizzard14
@zoom: I noticed in one of your comments that you said that the "falling" motion is the only way that CJ can land when he uses a parachute. Wrong. If you pull back just before you touch ground, he lands correctly on his feet. I though someone with so much knowledge about SA would know this. I've been trying to get a video up, but for some bloody reason, it says that it will take 6 hours for it to upload on YT. Dont know why though, the video is only about 15 seconds long. Benjimino234
I also never landed on the roof properly! Luckily I'm close to that Mission!

So do you just walk off the edge and push forward huh? It's that simple... Jeez do I feel like an idiot

Blizzard14
It's just the way Rockstar designed Carl to fall with a Parachute on Im guessing a reply to someone who told you why CJ "falls" when he touches solid ground.
zmoonchild
It's just the way Rockstar designed Carl to fall with a Parachute on Im guessing a reply to someone who told you why CJ "falls" when he touches solid ground. I meant that Carl falls differently with the Parachute on, then with it off. If he jumps off of a buidling without no Parachute, he falls directly to the ground; there's no way to control his fall, not really. If he jumps off of a building with a Parachute on, he can be controlled for a proper landing. You're confusing my comments in the wrong way; I never said that the "falling" motion is the only way that CJ can land when he uses a parachute anywhere in the comment section... however I did say that he can be controlled differently while he is "falling" with the Parachute on (then without a Parachute); maybe you misinterpreted what I was trying to say.
