General Goose
Anyone know where I can download this for free? It ain't abandonware yet, so I'm guessing only pirating or illegal websites will give them to you for free, and giving you the links to them is something I won't and can't do. You can get it fairly cheap on Steam though, or in bargain bins if you're likely.
SaintJimmy
Fallout 1 + 2 are like $5 each at the game stores I have in the area. You can pick up the Collection (1+2+Tactics) for $10.

ilya
lol bob .. Still haven't started FO2 again yet, as I'm finding Arcanum to be so much, and I'll not wanna go back if I switch now. Oh well, I'll get around to it. Edited April 5, 2010 by Supreme.

d0mm2k8
Damn. I got FO3 a year ago today and the expansion packs in October. I love the game so much it's unbelievable and I've played through it countless times. I go on Fallout Wiki to read about the Fallout universe regularly and a week ago I decided, after reading so much about them, to get the original Fallouts. I was literally blown away. So far I've only been on FO1 and I'm addicted like a f*cker. The game is an absolute gem of classic and is just so f*cking amazing I can't believe it. I'm making sure I do everything I possibly can in one playthrough. I can't wait to get my teeth into Fallout 2. On a side note, I've noticed how much FO3 has stayed true to the original in many ways. The boys at Bethesda really did their homework. Game-play is drastically different though (obviously )

ilya
^Another great that I've yet to experience. If you haven't guessed it or read my older posts; I only switched to PC gaming a few years ago, and continue to catch-up with the classics. I've got well over a dozen so far, but am still very much lacking. As I posted above, Arcanum is my latest purchase, and Planescape: Torment just may be my next. Edited April 9, 2010 by Supreme. jjcoolj91
also some good rpgs the baldurs gate series never winter nights the witchers pretty good to. Off Topic I think the RPG that I grew playing was the Wizardry games. It was a shame that it ended with 8. On Topic Fallout is what redefined how good games should be made. I hope I can see another game like it one day.

I figured out how to get Dogmeat ,and I found the water chip. I'm still a weakling, though.

anus
Massive bump. So this is my second playthrough of the game after I stopped early on in my first playthrough a couple of years ago since I lost interest. This is probably one of the best games I've ever played. One of the VERY few games to actually keep me interested in the story (the amount of modern games that have done this to me I could count on one hand). If you're thinking of playing this, DON'T read any spoilers. The story in the game is so damn good that looking at even a minor spoiler is like castrating yourself. I just went back to Arroyo with the GECK and saw Hakunin dead which was a downer, I want to find the lost people in Broken Hills but I can't remember the info the Sheriff gave me and I can no longer access the dialog options /facepalm. Btw, Advanced Power Armour+Plasma Rifle FTW.
Jolly Swagman
Even bigger bump than the last. I'm playing fallout 2 again for the first time in over ten years. Can anyone recommend some good mods? More interested in mods to add missions/ locations ect rather than one fixing glitches or doing traffic updates or anything like that

More interested in mods to add missions/ locations ect rather than one fixing glitches or doing traffic updates or anything like that Killap's Restoration Project, yo: http://www.nma-fallout.com/threads/fallout-2-restoration-project-2-3-3-unofficial-expansion.202265/ As you may already know, F2's development had problems. Mainly some key people left in the middle of it, and lack of time or resources for the ambitious scope. Some things were already in the game but just not used, and a few of the original devs handed over their stuff to modders. The first version came out in 2008 and it seems they're pretty much done now. It includes the Unofficial Patch for game fixes, and the High Resolution Patch. Examples of what the RP has (not very spoilery): - The EPA. It's where those enemies in Redding were supposed to come from, IIRC. - Sulik's tribal village. Simpler than Arroyo. This and other bits are connected to Sulik's personal quest that was previously a dead end. - Chinese submarine at San Francisco. It has to be dealt with before you can take the boat trip. - Cassidy talking head. I saw a youtube video of that and it was jarring against my mental image of Cassidy, so I unticked it in the installation menu. There's more, and while I don't remember any of it being great (sometimes the opposite, like fetch quests or poorly written dialogue), generally the content is decent enough that I'd always have it over the vanilla game alone. And I judge it with F2's style and as more of a sandbox game. Here's a possibly-outdated guide: http://hem.bredband.net/darek1/f2rp_wt.htm Also, I haven't tried it yet but I've heard good things about Fallout 1.5: Resurrection.
