Lucian04
I purchased the steam version on day 1 and I thought I had turned automatic updates off so I could just manually patch my game to 1.03 and be done with it.. Well, I was happily set with patch 1.03 and my plethora of mods when one day (today) I restart STEAM to see if offline mod worked for some games I had just recently purchased. I reset STEAM again after I was done and went out for the evening. I come back to find out that none of my mods were working and all of my settings were reset to the lowest graphical settings you could put the game at. My shortcut with -norestrictions at the end of the target line didn't work.. Neither did my Steam Shortcut with the same cvar work either. I noticed RGSC.exe was starting back up (not a good sign), so I tried installing Xliveless 0.97b and the latest scripthook and what the hell do you know? Now my mods are working again!!! God Damn you and your auto update Steam!!!! Anywho, long story short, is there anyway to get -norestrictions working again either via target line or commandline.txt? My specs are in my sig ofcourse, I'm about to just completely uninstall this game and start from scratch.
BKwegoharder
That's why you are supposed to buy box copies. Things like Steam is killing PC gaming. Steam sucks. Edited July 4, 2009 by BKwegoharder
Girish
Try deleting all files from the Settings folder as suggested in here. Then try the -norestrictions command again.
Lucian04
That's why you are supposed to be box copies. Things like Steam is killing PC gaming. Steam sucks. What an ignorant statement dude.. If anything, Valve and Steam have brought in a new revenue source for PC gaming and has allowed indie developers who's games would never see the light of day, to prosper. Anywho, thanks for the tip girishb.
BKwegoharder
Steam represents the move to digital distribution. You will no longer be able to trade games with your friends, or give games away when you are done with them. Oh, and people in developing countries, or even rural areas of America get shafted because there is no decent broadband at reasonable prices in those areas. We as customers have the legal right to give away, trade in or even resell games we are done with. Things like steam is taking this freedom away from us. The move to digital distribution is killing PC gaming, and even Console gaming and handheld gaming. We are even seeing big games like Patapon 2 being released for Digital Distribution ONLY, and we are seeing more and more stores not selling pc games. The stores that do also have a really limited selection. This needs to stop.
