Most Americans celebrate "the 4th" how most folks celebrate Christmas; it's more the fun of the traditions than anything. @oklp: Barbecue, alcohol, fireworks and bonfires is basically it. sounds like Guy Fawkes Night here. The Soviet Union was winning the war against germany long before america entered the war, the turning point was The Battle of Stalingrad in 1943 where the soviets won after that they pushed the germans more and more backwards. for example 80% of the german casualties came in the eastern front. Without Britain i doubt america would have been able to land and its heroic for such a small country they held out for a long time and lets not forget that around 40% of all troops landing in d-day was brittish. Without any of these 3 nations, the soviet union, great britain, usa the allies would have probably lost the war. I hope you will realise how disrespectful it is to say only america saved europe because the Soviet Union and Great Britain have just as much right to say they did as america does. now im only a 2 generation russian but i still take personal offence when you dont recognize how much the soviet union did in the war. and you are defenitley lackin in knowledge when it comed to the second world war. I look forward to seeing your reply. You should read my new post I don't know more about WWII its certenley admirable that you love america even though you are indian, imo its not where youre born but where your heart lies and you heart is in america. But what you said about america saving europe or doing most of the work is still very inaccurate and offensive towards both euros and russians. I am really sorry if I offended a nation or a person I didn't mean to do that but I don't have much Info on WWII and in TV they said Britain & Russia won after the entry of America. All of a sudden, everyone starts requesting MJ songs. First was The Way You Make Me Feel, then Beat It, then Billie Jean, then Thriller, then The Way You Make Me Feel again. BBQ'd some cheeseburgers and hotdogs, and watched the Angels cream the Orioles. Then sat in front and watched all the fireworks going off on the next street over. Slamman Posted July 11, 2009 Share Posted July 11, 2009 This SORTA relates, over the fourth, some families were shooting off what they had in the street, the cops were out driving around I am sure, inspecting some of these to see what was legal/safe. Well, some kid was out with his family shooting them off in the street as I witnessed several others doing. A long time resident who was upset over the noise came out and shot a boy in th neck. He's STILL in the hospital clinging to life. The man who shot him was taken into custody but let go over lack of evidence. The news reports he's 50 and was seen carrying a rifle with scope back into his house. After they matched the shell to the gun, and whatever else, they had enough to bring him in again, however, he's skipped town and now believed out of State!
