The following images contains truly shocking car crash, if you like the 300C, turn off your computer now. Nah only kidding, you'll get over it biggrin.gif

*pictures of 300C*

Damage deformation multipler is on 2.8, so it's definately not vanilla crashes. I landed on the roof and this was the result. As you can see the grill (well... what's left of it) has a new material. I removed that plastic thingy, but if I do something wrong, gta makes my grill invisible, so...

Anyway I can't import models either. Is this a bug?

And any1 have a material settings for chrome?

Wow that looks way better! wow.gif Please release a beta! cool.gif

That's because Rob.Zombie uses a bigger damage modification. But the new filter applies just the damage variable that's indicated in the handling.dat.

Btw Rob.Zombie can you make a 300C grill like this, instead of the vertical and horizontal 'lines'?:

No can do mate, I'd love to, but I don't know anything about modelling. BTW they call that the Bentley grill smile.gif

And yes you can use the new export filter, you just have to turn deformationmultipler to a very low number, like 0.5

*link omitted from quote*

From this post on (my post, not the quoted one) we are actually going to start enforcing our modding rules, specifically conversions.

-Models that require permission from a corporate entity, like EA Games, aren't allowed for conversions period

From here on out, anyone posting a link to a piece of work (car or otherwise) converted from a commercial game will be instantly and permanently banned. Not that we didn't give you a chance either, this rule was written in 2005 and this topic is over 50 pages long. So consider yourselves warned.

I'm gonna release a beta version of the 300C shortly

No can do mate, I'd love to, but I don't know anything about modelling.

These quotes shouldn't be coming from the same person.

I don't understand this forums hatred of converted cars. You can't get sued for linking to them, or be in anyway liable. Some of them are quality cars, converting takes a lot of work, never mind modelling them.

Actually that 300C I'm working on, was converted WITHOUT permission from IKEY07. I'm not 100 % sure that it's his model, but the engine is the same the interior and the whole car. Schaefft agrees with me. I only modify the car's materials to get a better car.

And I don't want to start arguing, but if you say you don't support MP mods then why is Vehicle Selector and Simple Native Trainer on the site? sarcasm.gif And I'm sure there are some karts I mean cars that are from other games...

Oh **** I just got myself an instaban biggrin.gif

Well...

Actually, those rules exist to protect those who have worked hard to make something. Ripping someones work without permission/credit is the main source of intolerance.

The other reason is because of the accusations the modding community has received a while ago (you know what Im talking about). This is a way of keeping GTANets hands clean.

IMO, any derelict can convert a model with a pirated zmodeler - it's not hard and it's only an excuse because converting is piss easy and very weak to see someone "release" a "mod" that they only converted - creating the work is what makes the mod the mod, not converting it. So basically, even if it's just to keep the scene from giving credit to pure conversions that don't deserve any at all, it's good enough. Never mind modeling them was the part that moved me to post on this subject, because the conversion of a car is a worthless, easy, task-based act - it has nothing to do with hard work or art. Something that GTANet's rules help to preserve.

Personally, I would not want people to look at my work and see all I did was convert things. And if it's all you can do, you need to be out there finding artists who do not know they can put their cars in GTA and working with them as their conversion bitches, not lifting games from formats you have no lawful right to be looking at or distributing - regardless of what Rockstar allows for us and regardless of how nice the batmobile screens first felt to see tounge.gif

This isn't at you, but rather that way of thinking (I used the word "you" a lot so it needs to be reminded that it isn't personal).

I can understand locking threads made by authors claiming to have modeled/done it all when it is converted but as a player and a modder i just want that lamborghuini or koenigsegg or bugatti, i don't care if the author ripped it. I'm sure if he made it himself it would be of much higher quality, but by making them a dirty word and banning anyone who mentions the subject it's just putting people off.

The people who convert them generally want to help others and let other people play with awesome cars, it doesn't hurt the game they came from or affect its sales.

Gtaforum.nl has the same ideas and rules on coverting models. But still, anyone can show his progress over there, without a ban. We may not link or upload a file which contains the car, that's it. What's so bad about showing screens? I don't get it. You just show an image you created yourself, so you can upload it onto a site and show it, in my humble opinion. But hell, who cares. suicidal.gif Communism.. sarcasm.gif

Anyway, to mention something useful:

>>right here<< is an amazing site where you can get a lot of high-quality 3d models for free, and that means the author gives you the right to modify and release it. They might only want their name mentioned in any way, but you can use it freely and it has no copyright. I got my Ford GT from that site as well (EA Conversion failed a bit).

Happy modding.

Oh? It's cloudy? Here I will make it very simple for those who don't understand from just common sense or who perhaps otherwise fail to respect copyrights:

To my knowledge from discussing this kind of stuff after the attack-of-the-conversions began, a model on Google Warehouse, Turbosquid, 3dCadBrowser - you need to realize they are There for the sole purpose of being in Your possession. Cars in other games Are Not. You CAN use models from those sites, but you won't get any respect. Respect is everything. You ALSO run the risk of getting banned when you use those free models because even those might just be game-rips. So, for being lazy or trying to do something that you really don't know how to do, you risk a lot. Not worth it, learn to model instead.

It's being looked too far into: You can't release cars from other games. That's the rule. It is not a conversion if you got the model from a FREE place intended to supply you with free models, and it's not a conversion if you BUY the model either. It's still cheap and pretty annoying to see "players who don't know any better" give props for models that are free, but hey, that's not really what this is about - You can't share cars that come from other games and game makers - that's all.

Conversion is GAME A to GAME B, not Turbosquid to Game.

Don't steal cars from other games, do not use art from NEWER games by rockstar in OLDER games by them (do not port IV to SA, but go right ahead and port SA to IV - that sort of thing). It's not that hard: Do not share cars from other games, it is illegal. Do not backport, it does not help sales of the people who allow you to forward port, which can help PC sales (trust me, you're not helping as much as you think).

Now, if you're ok with using crap models no one else wanted so they gave them away for free, by all means, do that, but a lot of people really dislike that and do not respect it. Work for a person who models cars and team up and bring their work to GTA For Them, make yourself actually useful instead of conceited racing to push our poorly exported so-called conversions of crap models no one wanted and gave away for free tounge.gif Don't just download the same model everyone and their mom downloaded daily for months and then get mad when it is not respected: The action is not respected because it is cheap and in some ways undermines the very act of modding a game. The "ignorant players who just want a new car" will download it, but they don't care about you, and they are not in your community as your peer. Your peers respect art and quality. Give it to them, and don't question rules that help to preserve that, imo. Team up with a modeler who isn't a gta modder instead. You will actually be a benefit to your community instead of another example of how shoddy this whole modding scene actually is on the inside.

At the same time, the conversions drive the scene in the beginning while everyone learns a format... It doesn't make it ok to release cars owned by other companies to the public. They're not asking much. They're just asking for you to not water down the scene with worthless conversion nonsense and instead actually model and mod something, that's all. They're not asking you not to show your pictures, they are asking you to stop stealing from other artists, that's all.

This is to save some accounts on here... Because it seems people may need a quick crash course in what is a conversion and why it is bad, and I have provided it. happy Modding - kill the conversions for anything but personal use smile.gif
