Skate 3

Just a short video I made earlier. I used various props to get on top of one of the buildings around the clock tower. I love how the peds react!

 

A second or two got cut off both ends of the video for some reason. So that's why the first and last clips are so abrupt.

 

Oh, and I just thought I'd mention that you can freeskate in the skate school area by choosing "Yes" to training then pressing circle/B to cancel the challenge. All the skate school runs are open plus a few more fun areas. The main thing I like is that you have free access to the mini-'mega ramp'.

You don't even need to do that. You can skip it completely, and just use the Challenge Map to spawn back and forth.

 

I tried the out-of-map glitch last night. Some of the areas are pretty cool. If the demo was that size, then I think there would be better impressions of the demo and of Skate 3, as there is some great lines and architecture going on. It's a shame that you respawn back in the demo area if you bail. That gets frustrating.

Played the demo sunday over at a friend's house... jesus christ have they made this game for retards? Skate 1 was just f*cked up, Skate 2 did it right and Skate 3 just makes a new Tony Hawk.

 

Button bashing and you'll do tricks nicely... no need to aim for rails and whatnot you'll automatically teleport to the desired rail if you want to grind.

I loved the first two Skate games, but Skate 3... Damn, played the demo, and wtf? It's easily one of the worst games i have ever played. EA screwed up Skate 3 in my opinion, dunno why but something on SK8 3 just don't feel "right".

Try grinding in hardcore mode, none of that teleporting bullsh*t.

Jeez, can people get any more stupid!? I keep seeing on message boards and comments all over the internet that Skate 3 is to easy because you teleport to the rails and go to fast and ollie to high. Is everybody f*cking blind or something!? Play hardcore mode...or at least normal...

In my opinion, Skate 3 is amazing. Hardcore mode is what makes the game so good in my opinion. It actually feels real, you have to perfectly line yourself with the rail/ledge. I like how you can actually fail to land a trick on flat ground if you don't go high enough. Plus doing a trick out of a grind feels so real because you don't go like 3 foot in the air like in the previous Skate games. Even though it's not a major reason to buy the game, I freakin' love the fact you can drop in off ledges and down quarter pipes. Also, the fact your skater actually tries to keep balance, and catch their fall if you land a trick badly instead of collapsing to the floor.

 

I really dislike the bailing though, when you can bounce your character into the air, I think it's a pointless addon that brings the game 1 step closer to it becoming a Tony Hawk style skating game. I also think it's stupid how you can punch pedestrians.

 

They also kept the little glitch where there's like a slight forcefield between your skater and the ledge/rail you're trying to land on. If you don't land it perfectly, you can literally see your skater being forced to the side where they then land on the ground.

 

Regardless, when I get a PS3, I'm getting this beast of a game. I've played it on my brothers PS3, I love the game. It truely is like a skate mecca.

Try doing a nollie varial heelflip when not moving and fast. I love it how he doesn't bail and how the skateboard actually "spins" on the ground.

I wouldn't mind it so much if the ragdoll physics were better...

And yeah, punching peds is pointless, but doesn't hurt the game.

God, I hate that! I actually might not buy the game specifically because of that seeing as grinds are my forte.

The one thing that, by far, stands out in Skate 3 (in a good way) is the seamlessness. I love that the board has physics and not just canned animations. It makes for really great "that was so close!" moments where the board will hit the ground while still at an angle and you will land it sketchily.

Just saw a video tutorial for a much easier way of getting on rooftops, saves a lot of time having to build up stable constructions with ramps and such. Did a quick upload test while I was up there, finally got my skate.reel working thanks to EA support.

What difficulty mode are you playing on? I play on Hardcore. It's the most challenging and fun IMO. The 'force-field' on the rails/ledges/etc pisses me off though! I hope it's fixed in the full game

I play on Hardcore too, since I don't want to play Skate 3 like it is a Tony Hawk game

Haha that video was awesome. You think these are the type of things you could unlock for doing certain challenges and stuff? I presume the meat model probably has something to do with the hall of meat, say if you complete all the challenges or something with it.
