Enjoii
The third entry in EA's growing skateboarding franchise is coming in 2010, with rival street crews vying for prime Port Carverton turf in Skate 3. So how is EA's Skate franchise evolving in the face of Activision's new peripheral-based entry in the Tony Hawk franchise? This time around it's all about the community and teamwork, with an all-new co-op mode that allows teammates to complete challenges together, advancing each other's careers in the process. Senior producer Jason DeLong explains the importance of the social side of Skate 3. "The social and community aspects of the SKATE franchise are something we've always embraced, but we've never done anything to the scale you're going to see in SKATE 3. We're giving gamers a very unique experience by providing them with the tools they need to build their ultimate team or to create a team comprised entirely of their online friends. From there, it's all about proving yourself – teaming up, and throwing down." Along with the emphasis on working together, Skate 3 also features an expanded Hall of Meat, a brand new skate.School to help players learn the ropes, and enhancements to the user-created content with the skate.Create feature suite, which allows players to create their own graphics, videos, and skate parks. Skate 3 is currently in development for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 at EA's Black Box studio, with a target release date (in the UK at least) of May 2010. Check out the teaser trailer below to witness people skating, which I suppose is all you can really ask for. http://kotaku.com/5359773/skate-3-rolls-out-in-2010 Edited September 15, 2009 by Enjoii
Omnia sunt Communia
As long as they give us something new and interesting, I might actually buy this game. I purchased skate 2 and when I played it I just felt like I was playing skate all over again. There was nothing unique about it besides a few new tricks and the ability to get off your board. Don't get me wrong, it was a good game, but so was skate. Maybe we could actually visit a different city this time? Or even travel to multiple cities like in the Tony Hawk's series? •Rapidoh
Hopefully Skate 3 will be better than the second one because I've loved both so far. Lets hope they will be working on this for a good while since I need to save my money for other games that are going to be coming out.
Slamman
Seems pretty popular with YOU KIDS. I don't Skate, I RIDE.... BMX! well, all but the racing part. I grew up with BMX on the brain, mostly freestyle in the streets, yet, I don't use the axle pegs, I have a problem with those making stunting too easy. After I wiped though, I stick to wheelies and jumps that are moderate! Off natural surroundings. I did try Tony Hawk but was not enamored. I think the interesting thing is if they'd appeal to non Skaters like me, so far, I've been down on BMX games in favor of auto racing ones, for years in fact
•Rapidoh
I remember having a BMX game on my PS2 for ages and ages before I lost it. Was okay, although it just didn't feel right with me because it was such an effort to even try and use a halfpipe. Skating games have always appealed more, especially the old school Tony Hawks games. His games now have just turned into sh*t. So thank god for the Skate franchise especially considering EA are involved. I think Skate 3 is already being worked on because of that Tony Hawk game coming out with the board so it needs some better competition.

SIKKS66
I remember having a BMX game on my PS2 for ages and ages before I lost it. Matt Hoffman's Pro BMX by any chance? There was that Dave Mirra one two. Had Matt Hoffman one myself, was okay. Never competed with Tony Hawk though. Might give Skate a chance sometime soon. I liked the demo but it's more one of them games I buy impulsively when they're cheap.

You should really look into buying or at least renting the first or second game. Personally I'd go with renting the second since I still haven't completed the first ( Thank GOD that they got rid of those video challenges you had to do )
Gezim
I still prefer the Tony Hawk games more. Way more fun in my opinion. Well, at the least the older games were. The newer ones suck ass. I don't mind Skate though, it's a cool game. I just used to love the stories and gameplay of the older Tony Hawk games.

Dave Mirra was on TV the past week in fact, competing and doing well it seems. It was the ever controversial BMXXX Which he quickly dis-owned! darthYENIK
I love skate, and my personal opinion is that as long as they keep the core mechanics, and address some of the things that made the game less of a feeling of real life skating (which is do what you want when you want), then I'll be happy. Just make the game of skate with Koston and Carroll easier.
bigmike72
actually i wanna see a true skateboarding career in a video game i'm tired of the whole storyline bs and the stupid challenges were you have to do the move exactly how the show you how about you just enter competitions and earn sponsors and move your way up the ranks
blitsie
I played the first skate to death and when I finally got Skate 2,I got bored within the first few hours because it was basically the same game with a few minor enhancements. It was still a great game. All they need something new and interesting to put in.

Lethal Nizzle
I had Matt Hoffman's Pro BMX for PS1; it continually played Fool's Gold by The Stone Roses on my copy. I'm all far Skate 3; loved S1 to bits, S2 a close second but I hope S3 comes up with something big. Perhaps a "world tour"? Or is that a little too THUG? Lethal Nizzle
meh... probably no pc version again. not interested if that's true. It would be impossible to play Skate on anything other than consoles, with the exceptions of joypads and such.

•Rapidoh
I don't think its meant to be a PC game at all. Like, it would just be odd to have it on the PC and probably not as appealing, I mean I know you can get a joypad/controller for the PC but like, why would you go to that trouble to play it. I don't know it just doesn't feel like a PC franchise game.

There's a problem though; Skate's whole premise is the flick-it control scheme. How can you possibly pull that off with a keyboard? I know, most people would use a gamepad with it, but some people may not have a choice. Face it: some games are meant for consoles.
darthYENIK
I bet it would work with a mouse. Wouldn't be a intuitive, but would probably still work. But for the most part I agree, some games are meant for console, some games (FPS) are meant for PC.

Lethal Nizzle
skate 2 came out like yesterday And your point is? Agreeing with Pat on the whole "Skate on PC" scenario - not everyone can get their hands on joypads and what have you, so playing Skate on a keyboard would be going against the ethic of the game. Vanillainy
skate 2 came out like yesterday January = yesterday? I'm happy, loved both skate 1 and 2. Although I feel a new city is needed, I'll be bored with it if it's Vanelona again.
Lochie_old
If you could break your skateboard in half after ollieing over a huge set of stairs, that would totally make me buy Skate 3.
3minty3
Loved skate 1, 2 so I cant wsait for skate 3 as long as there is some major improvements. wishlist: -new city(cities) -better off board controls -more ways to move about e.g. ladders, maybe a sewer system to move about in -more options available for making your own spot -easier controls for making your own spot -custom music tracks -blood -more freedom in career path -better custom boards. GTA3Rockstar
Custom park maker would kill it if they had that in the game. Like Far Cry and their ability to make a map.
*MURDOC*
I'd love a proper create-a-park, I just enjoy building stuff. Getting rid of the speed cap would be nice too, I love to bomb hills, and if they had better sliding/braking controls, higher speeds would be possible, I want lay-down slides at high speeds, noice. darthYENIK
skate 2 came out like yesterday And by using this logic, skate 3 probably wont come out until tomorrow. The only real big hope I have for this game would be better on foot movement. Movement more like GTAIV.
