CRmobster
Hi, It seems depending on you cpu and drivers gta will glitch out and freeze. The comp locks up audio still works. IF you hit win+m /alt+tab etc they don't work but audio will switch out. Game will run fine and then 30 sec to 30 min it will just freeze. Random graphics may be missing (light poles steps etc.) You can still hit them. The solution: Dload drivers form the web and install software. Restart computer. Now go to device manager: find your video card and hit update drivers. Dont allow it to search online. The hit install from a specific location. On the next page hit dont search i will choose a driver to install. Hit next. Now there should be 2 drivers listed. One should say 4850 (or what ever model you have, 4870 etc.) The other says 4800 series. Windows thinks the specific driver is better, but when i used the 4800 series all my problems went away. Try using the 4800 series driver and continue through the prompts. Restart and enjoy glitch free gta4. P.S.....newegg has a great deal on xfx hd 4850 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814150351 I just bought one and it runs great once i used the correct driver. Officer_Dufus
The ATI drivers are universal for a group of different graphics cards. 4800 or 4850, same driver....as well as for other cards too!
