Sanjeem
Lonsdaile City for London City. For my own GTA Topic i used Lonsdale, which Rockstar would probably get sued for, But Lonsdaile City sounds pretty ok, and Rockstar won't get sued. Oh and Jscky i dont mind youn using it if you want to, I know you are probably thinking of your Own unique name though. FTW_JMe
Landun, Linden, Loudon, Loadun. Not to be confused with gunter glieben glauben globen. I'm not a fan of Lonsdaile, if I'm honest. Sounds abit too like Emmerdale. OMFG! Could you imagine GTA Emmerdale? Zak Dingle as the games protagonist? Haaa!

These gentlemen, right here: I think I'm going to use the name "Ludham" for my fictional version of London. Though that might be a bit off because London is believed to be a Gaelic-origin name and the suffix -ham is from Anglo-Saxon (or Viking) times. I'm going to do a little more research first. Severe
I quite like the sound of Burberry as a pseudonym for London. It sounds very British and Burberry clothing is really one of the first things that come to mind when I think of London. Unlikely however, due to the whole trademark thing. Severe
Well, I know, but I still consider it a British cultural icon, even if it has become a low-cultural icon.

mmax121
St. Louis - St. Dennis Mainly because instead of the abbreviation StL it would be StD. And also some people pronounce it "Saint Louey" and it sounds passable if GTAers call it "Saint Denny" Also the Gateway Arch landmark can be called the Archway Gate! jonjon1992
Dublin -> Blackpool The original Irish name for the town was "Dubh Linn" (hard to see where the name came from, huh?), which translates into English as "black pool". It's purely coincidential that there's a town in Lancashire called Blackpool). Inicidentally, I'm working on my own GTA set in Ireland. Dublin is - unsurprisingly - one of the main cities, and I'm using the Irish names (I can get by in Irish, but I wouldn't say I'm fluent in it) for the main three cities. My Hometown of Blackpool could be called Seaside City or maybe Brighton should have that name? theres also Whitemarsh for a name?

Blackpool would never be metioned in a GTA let alone used as a setting. Heres my list: Chicago - Willis (Name based on the Willis Tower) San Diego - San Alcala (San Diego is named after Saint Didacus of Alcala) Oakland - Woodland London - Thames City (Name based on River Thames) Paris - Parisii (Early settlers in the Paris region) Rome - Romulus (Named based on Romulus Augustus, the last Roman Emperor Berlin - Brandenburg (Named based on the Brandenburg Gate) Edited November 23, 2010 by 02fishera
