[IV] Import and export a WFT with ZModeler

I made a tutorial for beginners that I translated in english too. The tutorial explains how to import and export properly a WFT file. So everyone can start to mod the 3D files.

Before following this tutorial make sure you have the latest version of ZModeler properly registered.

 

Tools required: Zmodeler 2, SparkIV, General vehicle texture pack.

 

1. Download the General vehicle textures pack and extract it somewhere (here we'll call the folder "DIR").

2. Run SparkIV, click Open and select the vehicles.img file located in

pc\models\cdimages\

3. Choose the vehicle you want to export, eg. the Comet, so select comet.wft and comet.wdt and click Export.

4. Export both files in the "DIR" folder where we have the other textures extracted in the first passage.

5. With SparkIV click on comet.wdt and click View, then click Save All Textures.

6. Save all the texture in the DIR folder as before.

7. Summarizing: in "DIR" folder you should have the WFT file, all the textures from the general vehicle pack and all the textures extracted from the wdt with SparkIV.

8. Now you can run ZModeler and click Import (be sure you have checked PNG, Collision and Sliced Model).

9. Select comet.wft and it will be imported.

10. Here you need some ZModeler skill to modify the file as you want. Don't change the hierarchy tree.

11. When you finished to modify the model you can export it clicking Export.

12. Save the file where you want, don't replace the original wft file.

13. Run SparkIV again, click Import and select the new WFT.

14. Run the game and you should have your new Comet.

its good man but you forgot to mention about sliced option and collison option. if you dont click on sliced option when imported all the col file will import seperatly which means they wont be assigned to any part of the car. if you import with sliced on it does the job for you in other words you can edit vehicle then export it no troubles because if you export the no sliced option you will find when exporting and loading the game the car will have no wheels and you wont be able to drive it nothing.

Don't change the hierarchy tree.

When I modified my Comet to a convertible some week ago, I just deleted the windows that belonged to the doors. You can just delete doors and crap, though you must keep fundamental things like the body, wheels etc.

im having trouble importing wft files

 

when i click imprt nothing happens

 

im doing everything rite but when i click import nothing happens at all, the window closes as if it has imported something but theres nothing there and at the bottom were it says your actions there is nothing either? anyone know what the problem is?

I had the same problem too, and contacted Oleg. He told me that the product key I used was blacklisted because it was to find on the internet. So you might be using a cracked zmodeler with blacklisted key. I don't accuse you of doing that, I just say what it could possibly be.

 

Anyway, thank you so much. Now my windows don't turn out white. lol.gif

lol damn yeah your rite i have to admit lmao. i just want to import a car so i can mess around with some minor adjustments. ive never used z modeler before but ive always loved that kind of stuff and seeing as no one will make the cars i want then i really want to have a crack at it myself. i know £40 seems like small change to a lot of people but that means loads to me and i really cant afford it. damn credit crunch.

anyone generous enough to buy me it biggrin.gif i bet theres a few loaded people on here lol.

When i export the file be only 0 kb and it´s nothing in it mercie_blink.gif It´s should be fun to know how to fix it i have many files in .3ds as i want to export to san andreas , IV

Hey! Not everyone want to publish the edited files of others!

 

It's simple: I just want to fix some bugs on the mod, what the modders forget to fix! Like the handgrips on a motorbike, or the smoke dummy's position..etx..

 

And pls, don't write these kind of smartass comments, just try to answer!

hi

 

I do have a problem with the import off the wft file.

 

I changed the look of the stallion and wanted to test it, but after the wft export to the game it is just the same look as the original stallion.

I cant help my self...cause I had no problems with the schafter, admiral and rancher...whats different to the stallion?
