Potato Boggle
i have pulled an all nighter for the first time in my life without passing out at 5 am is it really unhealthy You stayed up till 5 just now? Are you 5? I pulled all nighters back when I was like 4 sometimes.
Girish
It's not unhealthy unless you start doing it on a frequent basis. I have pulled off many all nighters in the last 4 years of my academic life. I'd suggest only one cup of coffee though; too much coffee won't do good. The best way to stay awake is to eat apples and drink lots of water. It's healthier and more effective than coffee. 1ManArmy
Yeah, it's unhealthy, but I actually do it quite alot somtimes during the holidays just playing gtaiv on the ps3. Just make sure you eat all your meals and get a good rest after that. But yeah, I look like took some meth if I do this continuously. Only during holidays though. Make sure you hang out with your friends alot too when it's the holidays. Edited October 28, 2009 by 1ManArmy
GodfatherITB
Funny seeing this topic, 'cause I just began to experience insomnia. I've been awake for almost two days now. It's actually pretty nice once you get used to it: lots of time on my hands, and plus I love the nighttime. It just sucks when the sun starts rising and the f*cking birds won't shut their mouths. 1ManArmy
Well, it actually screwed my whole biological time temporarily as my night became day and day became night during school days. So I had to rehabilitate by forcing myself to stay awake during the day and sleep early at night. Had to do it for a few days until my body could readjust to the normal time. Unhealthy, isn't it? Luckily only during the holidays. I still stay up until 5 during the weekends sometimes though. But that's not counted as an all nighter to me though. cacarla
I have pulled off many all nighters in the last 4 years of my academic life. So, even you study huh, Girish ? @OP: Night-outs are not unhealthy at all. But, being it for the first time in your life, just be careful of it's after-effects because it may hamper your appetite. I just stopped doing this recently as my exams are over. I used to have a burning sensation in my food pipe which made me very uncomfortable. The main trouble is, huge amount of headache which didn't allow me to do any work properly.
1ManArmy
Yeah, becareful of the side effects of staying up all night. When I do it excessively last time, I lost my appetite for food so I actually skipped some meals and ate less. And I got gastric because of that. It really isn't healthy and should be avoided actually.

•Rapidoh
I used to be able to pull all nighters all the time like when I was 16, early 17 but now I just find it too hard. The only way I can do it now is if I make sure I drink an energy drink at about 12/1am. Still if you pull too many of them when you don't really need to then its going to eventually catch up with you. And in the long run its not good. manofpeace
It's almost 5 AM right now, and the only reason I happened to stay up all night was I was watching Braveheart and I forgot how long it is. Though, this isn't very uncommon for me to stay up this late (or, this early) as I happen to enjoy sleep more if I've stayed up through two days rather than one, but I inevitably appreciate the rest I get if I time it right. Just last week I was stuck waking up in the evening and passing out some time in the early afternoon the next day. I had to keep myself occupied for a long time to be able to sleep at a normal time. One thing I noticed was that it gets extremely boring, as well as lonely at about 4 AM, because nobody is awake anywhere. Even worse, I can hardly see 5 feet in front of me in my house since the lights have to be off so my parents can sleep. Concerning the longest I've ever stayed up, well that would be 50 or so hours last summer. I was trying to see how long I could hold out, and ended up fainting when I went to get something from my bed. Boy, did I drool.
Swarz
The odd all-nighter is hardly gonna kill you. However, long-term sleep deprivation can obviously throw your body-clock out of sync, you'll feel consistently tired and your concentration levels will fall significantly. Over a longer period of time, it can affect your health. Your immune system can suffer and your stress levels could increase. Expect bags under the eyes and grey hairs to follow shortly. Doing nights consistently is terrible. Many shift workers die shortly after retirement - their bodies get so used to shift work including nights that a sudden change can throw their entire system out of whack, and at 55-60 years old that can be fatal. You have been warned. --- AMF --- -= A joke is a very serious thing - Winston Churchill =-
Girish
I have pulled off many all nighters in the last 4 years of my academic life. So, even you study huh, Girish ? How else do you think I graduated? Besides, when you laze around your time the entire semester, you're left with only one option - pulling off all nighters before the exam. You'll know if you ever get into engineering. Sh*t's crazy! LanceVanceDance07
I rarely do all-nighters, because sleep is important for me. If I don't get sleep, then I become cranky, and nobody likes me when i'm cranky.

Ometh
I only pulled 1 all nighter during during my 15 years of existence. I hate it because it makes me feel really tired and it's like torture to me because I love to sleep

Ronnyboy
I do them occasionally, it's not really healthy if your going to be doing a lot of vigorous exercise during the following day. I have pulled them a lot from flying, I just can't sleep in an airport or on a plane. When at an airport (delayed, waiting, just arriving) I will usually walk around, watch some news, just do something to keep myself from being to tired to get on the plane. A lot of times at home I will just grab a coffee or some food, sit back, kick some tunes or watch some TV and you just go with the rush. They are really good if you just can't sleep or just know that you can't wake up early so ride it out until that time.

gta-evo4
I do them but not very often. A weekend night is for getting laid(if possible), drunk and sh*t. but nothing like a calm night to chill out, read a book etc. I would say that I don't like the mornings at all, so boring. McLovin2404
I've done all nighters before. I've worked at a grocery store during the grave yard shifts...10pm to 6am. That was 3 years ago...couldn't hack it. My sex drive was going down...my gf told me so to quit. Now I'm back to normal again with my sleeping patterns. But now and then, I'll do all nighters when I play IV...but only on weekends. For you my friend, try to get out of the house more often. Go for a walk, pick up a sport, eat healthy alternative, drink water instead of soft drinks and the odd occasional. And restrict your all nighters to weekends. OabAli
I usually do all-nighters for assignments, sometimes even if it's due date is far off, so I don't lose momentum. I'm on an assignment right now, and predicting that I'll do an all-nighter on Sunday evening to Monday morning. And yeah, my body clock is all screwed up - sleepiness can occur at anytime during the day.
!!GC!!
Haha, all nighters are great fun. If you are new to it, you really need something to do though. Otherwise you'll just fall asleep whereever you sit/stand. Im used to it and these days i just get a few friends and drive through the city, do some motorway driving, tag along on the drag train, anything really. I always take a V along, though. They are amazing to keep you awake, but are horrible to try and wake you up Im not unhealthy at all, and neither is doing all-nighters on a regular basis.
