Meh, just curious at what people think. I for one am not a fan of FPS, especially because the games market is now something like half of FPS. I have played; Killzone 2, COD 4 and Bioshock and IGN said they were all 'must plays' but I never saw anything in them.

Has anyone also noticed most FPS taking on an RPG style? RE5 with the upgrading of weapons? MGS4 upgrading of weapons is also there I believe?

I love Mercenaries 2 by the way, great game. A great example of what GTA 4 could of been (just wish it had the graphics of GTA 4).

Most FPS games are great, with only a few exceptions.

Though, sadly, I'm absolutely sh*t at them, again with only a few exceptions.

But overall, despite my sh*ttiness, I love them.

I love FPS games. I am a Counter Strike 1.6 enthusiast biggrin.gif

But when there's a new FPS I have to check it out at least.

Half-Life 2

Easily the best first-person shooter I have ever played in my life.

All the other ones are mediocre.

CoD4 is awesome, most of the others I've played have been average in comparison. If it wasn't for CoD4 I probably wouldnt play them.

Love most of FPS games, not all. Like Brothers in Arms Hell Highway, I don't like that game. I like FPS that have gameplay like Half-Life, CoD, and Battlefield.

BFBC was my first FPS game, and I loved that. Then, I tried Call of Duty 4. Holy crap.

I'm a sucker for the genre now, but I'll always love classic third person games as well. I think war games work better in first person, so it all really depends on the type of game for me.

Pretty much all my games end up being FPS games or some other type of shooter, i love the Genre, no matter the Platform, be it Team Fortress 2 on PC or Battlefield Bad Company on consoles, i just love FPS games.

They are okay. I'm much more into third person games, but some FPS are good. My favorite that I own has to be Unreal Tournament 3. I never seen the big deal of CoD as I've seen people play co-op with each other in a deathmatch and the only thing they do is shoot like maniacs. I like GTA IV how accuracy is way more important than rapid fire unlike how FPS are usually the opposite. I also own F.E.A.R. and F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin which are also pretty good.

EDIT: Also most FPS, including CoD, usually same like pretty much the same thing as each other. I like my games to have a different feel from my other games.

Resident Evil 5 isn't First Person, neither is MGS4.

I don't mind them. The only thing I don't like is how linear most of them are. I like FPS, with sandbox style gameplay like FarCry 2.

I like some FPS games. Like any other genré, you get good and bad ones.

Goldeneye

Perfect Dark

Half Life/Counterstrike

COD4/WAW

Battlefield series

these are all good ones in my opinion. Can't think of any others off the top of my head

OP, you could have worded your poll better. I`ve been thinking of doing someting along these lines for a couple of days now. Just a straight FPS vs 3PS poll would have let us know how people feel about this debate.

I love FPS games. I spent 10 days of my life on Call of duty 4. Cod 4 is an amazing game, certainly made me love FPS games. BRING ON MODERN WARFARE 2! biggrin.gif

Good FPS:

TF2, L4D (If you don't mind the repetitiveness), Star Wars Battlefront Series, Battlefield 2/1942.

Bad FPS:

Just about everything else. (Yes, CoD4 included you monkeys, its only good if you play multiplayer and then its just like CS:S, full of people who play way too much and ruin the fun for everyone else.)

That is probably why I didn't like COD4, too many people who play it 24/7 so casual gamers (like myself) barely get a chance to experience it.

I quite like them. They're a big part of my gaming, it seems. Started on Counter Strike, as many did, and I recently took a liking to Tom Clancy's, both Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon.

As long as they're good I enjoy them. Enjoyed games like Half Life, Bioshock, Deus Ex, CoD Series, Rainbow 6, Resistance. Not so big on playing multiplayer on games I much prefer a strong single player which I find most of the above to have.

Last I checked, MGS4 and RE5 weren't fps games. Yes, you can switch views in MGS4 to look through the iron sights, but it certainly isn't a fps and never will be. The hell you talking bout' son?

Anyway, I love fps games especially CoD4 on pc.

You've got to be kidding.

Yeah, I love a good FPS. It's the immersion factor that sets them apart from third person shooters. I always feel more "in the game" in first person.

I love FPS games. Although with some of them like CSS and COD you just get players that play 24/7 and just pound you into the ground too much that makes you want to just stop playing all together if you're just a casual gamer.

I tend to like the storylines in some of them, such as Bioshock which I got the demo of. However, the field of vision is what gets me. I just can't get used to it for some reason. Much prefer third-person shooters, and in games where there's a choice, like in Fallout 3, I always use third-person.

None of those games are FPS. They are all TPS.

As for your poll, my choice isn't there

"FPS belongs on PC and Not on Consoles and the only reason you get FPS on consoles right now is because they are WAY easier to make and the cost of production is breaking the developers. The ONLY reason they get reviewed so well is because the industry knew they needed help or else this generation was going to fail. It is all part of removing the indie guy, removing neutrality. Closing the web and giving you only what they choose to give you through set-top-boxes (give you twitter and facebook to track yourself but NOT give you google to Educate yourself on consoles so facebook people buy xbox and your gamer voice gets drowned out by their demands for myspace next - all the while you watch less and less use the internet on the computer, and you watch "casual gamers" ruin your game world, and ignore the problems, because they only visit myspace and facebook anyway, where ONLY the commercial entities will be able to survive on the regular internet ourside of web 2.0 apps - This world is Enjoying getting itself Screwedout of the thing that stopped it from getting screwed. They are locking it back down like it was before the internet.). They are pushing out the poor webmaster and keeping technology for the people who had power before the tech boom - those people want their power back, and they intend to get it"

Was my vote blush.gif

I honestly couldn't imagine an FPS game on a PC, but I'm also not a PC gamer. I just like a controller.

A mouse seems like it would be just too easy to play whereas the analog sticks seem to pose more of a challenge.

I will completely disregard you're statement as you complain about people who play too much in Cod4 and put BF2 in the good FPS's.

Not that i dont like BF2. But that is singlehandedly the game wher eif you end up against good people, there is NOTHING you can do.

I love FPS games. At first, I was complaining about the fact that loads of games that were gonna come out on PS3 were FPS' since I prefered 3rd person. But now, I love FPS games such as CoD:WaW, Far Cry 2, Killzone 2 etc. biggrin.gif

There was a time when PC gaming was safe because people knew the mouse look is superior to immersing the person into the head of the player and we kept gaming alive by ignoring FPS games on consoles unless they were groundbreaking :'(
