azkay
I personally wouldn't go any lower than a 9600gt, that should allow you to play on decent settings with decent frame rates. Anything below a 9600gt is just wasting money in my view. You would also get decent settings and speeds with an 8800 series card as well. Actually - I have the 8800GTX 768Mb DDR3 OC2 card and I can run GTA on high textures and everything maxed with an average fps of 23... which isn't bad... technically when I put it on medium... I almost get the same fps... I personally think the 9600GT is worse than the highest end 8800 card. I think you talk sh*t. With medium settings my game hits 23FPS and the max FPS is 43. Benchmarked with FRAPS. And not 8800GTX but on 9600M GT. You are lil informed. I think you talk sh*t. http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=474&card2=

I houghly doubt it. The only video ive seen running with x3100 was at around 3fps, I get just over 15~20FPS with a 9800GTX+ But my CPU is my bottleneck. Dont forget the 8800 Ultra beats the 9800GTX is quite a few benchmarks and the Ultra is basically just an overclocked GTX.
Murcchachosa
15% faster.Im not changing my mind between these both. Im not a hardcore gamer. I only want to play games that I like, in this case GTA4. Medium settings and playable FPS are enough. I really enjoyed the fact I bought this laptop. And all games I tried, can startup and runs on medium.highest. Is not that enough? To me is that great. Im not comparing these numbers because Im not a prick who got confused with these numbers. x800 are hig-end, x600 are mid-range, x700 are great too. Hope you understand this, Im not like a beast who needs a überpc. Im very happy I didnt bought a mistake. And you still can't admit that you're wrong... Sad, sad man... Also , your english sucks arse... how old are you - 10??? Anyway in response to 945yadayada's problem... Integrated graphics cards usually suck arse compared to the monster beasts of NVidia and ATI... I think you've picked up a laptop that has enough 3D power to run standard business programs like Word, Publisher and do a bit of Rendering in Movie maker and stuff... but I doubt that it will ever play GTA IV... Sorry man... next time you might want to research the card, before you buy the laptop... You are just an f*cking asshole who's doesnt understand what I've said. Who the f*ck told Im wrong?! Doubt? f*ck off, it CAN play GTA IV and it RUNS. And no, I never wanted desktop. Its your opinion. And I didnt tooked the wrong laptop. And I dont do any bussiness. man, you really gets on my nerves with your stupid argument. And english is NOT my native language. And I KNOW my english suck ass but you f*ck ass. If you still reply on my post, I'll not answer/reply. I stop with your useless sh*t For now, stop it. @topiccreator. Maybe you can find some tweaks. Look at the pinned topics. And also in "Other" subforum, good luck
MitchyK
OK children, time for your naps, you're all getting cranky! murcchachosa, you seem to have taken a very large amount of offence to a simple statement, which was; @Murcchachosa: There's not too much of a difference between the 9600M GT and the 9600GT. Overall, the 8800GTX is roughly 15% faster than the 9600GT. That statement in no way was an attack on you, but your response seems to have been a little over the top. It's probably because english is not your first language and you misunderstand. I think it may also be your desire to defend your choice of laptop, which by the way, nobody was really attacking. We're all here because we like GTA IV and we all have our opinions and we are all entitled to them, without things degenerating into a foul mouthed slagging match. So please play nicely, for the benefit of ALL forum members. If you have an issue with a particular member, you can always report them to the admins who i'm sure will be happy to help. In the meantime, enjoy playing GTA IV, and taking part in these forums Just my three shillings worth. MitchyK
CharmingCharlie
Jesus christ you lot take things out of context, I just said DON'T GO ANY LOWER THAN A 9600gt. I never once said a 9600gt beats any 8800gt/gts/gtx/ultra . I know that a 9600gt cannot beat a 8800gtx I thought it was so blindingly OBVIOUS I didn't feel the need to state that. I didn't think this guy would be in the market for one since he was looking at cheap arse crap like the 9400gt, which is why I never said anything about the 8800gtx . I don't even understand why you guys are still talking about 8800GTX's or ultras you would be hard pressed to find anyone actually selling them any more NEW. Which is why I didn't mention them since they have been superceeded by the 9800gt etc. Which brings me back to my original point of "Don't buy anything less than a 9600gt". However for certain "people" on this board I will expand it too "Don't buy anything less than a 9600gt unless you can get an 8800gt, or an 8800gts (512mb) or an 8800gtx or an 8800ultra if you can still find people selling them new£" there everyone happy now ? Murcchachosa
@MitchyK, I understand. But these people are still have bad negativy about laptops. I KNOW laptops are teerible. But believe me, since 2003 I work with PC's laptops. My favorite is always laptop, they portable and smaal. But...I always search for more informations/feedbacks/reviews before i buy one. No problem. Since i did, Im satisfied. Im not a harddie gamer, so yeah. @Charlie, I know 8800's are strong.
MitchyK
I use laptops a lot too, but i'm lucky enough to have an ok laptop, but a pretty good pc (Core 2 quad 9550, GTX260, 4G OCZ gold RAM 8000MHz and 2 Terabytes of hard drive space! So i can use my laptop for internet and word, and leave my desktop for pure gaming fun! LOL But yes some laptops are good for gaming, most i spent on a laptop was £1386 for a pentium 3 1.13GHz, which at the time was top of the line, but could still only play half life in crappy software mode because the onboard graphics were so bad it only ran at 640x480! LOL My current laptop is better, but i wouldn't even try running GTA IV on it! I'm glad you get yours running good enough to play on. Everybody should be able to enjoy the wonders of liberty city in HD! MitchyK
