Daz
Daz, if you played Battlefield 1942, which 1943 is a port of. You'll know that you are limited with weapons. Be thankful there's even such a decent multiplayer game on arcade for such a cheap price. I dont call 1943 a port of 1942 by any means. its the same maps that are updated with todays graphics which to me makes it more of a modification. Hell, I have 16 versions of wake island alone spanning the pc games. EXACTLY And 1943 is a DIRECT copy of Battlefield Bad company, same engine, same menus, icons, lists, etc, everything. The only difference is the theme, and addition of planes. Seriously. And I have played 1942. I have every single battlefield game there is. So dont lecture me I know what I am talking about. I am no green motherf*cker. I disagree with Daz's language, but I agree with how short this game is. Last I checked, $15, is still alot of money for 3 levels and a limited amount of guns. I would say 5-6 maps would be the sweet spot, and some new weapons for sure. And what's up with the Engineer class not being able to fix bridges? In Battlefield 2, they could fix em. Totally true, I dont know why you cant fix bridges. Maybe some deep jungle maps, with some historic religious monuments etc. Maybe infantry only. Maybe the ability to spawn from one of those bombers, and skydive down like 1942. There really should be at least another kit and map. varied from what we already have. Btw to deny swearing, is to deny modern life. You cant ever escape it, it doesnt hurt anyone it just strenthens your passion on a subject. If you are offended, it is your personal problem. It is indirect and almost all words considered as swears arent bad at all and acompany more than half of everyday speech. I'm not offended, but you are quick to jump on the defense about that. The way you are using curses, sounds like you are raging about this. It's the tone you give off which means people might interpret you as some sort of raging fanboy or something of the sort. I have no problems with cursing, but the tone in a debate with another makes you seem not fit to debate. @topic: Maybe it is the fact that Battlefield 2 was so awesome, and we have already played Wake already, that we see how crap it is when it is so limited. Battlefield 2 had 6 classes I believe and you could slightly customize your kits as well. There were more vehicles, but there were also the crappy glitches in the game as well. Is there a player that can be the commander? I did not even take the time to notice. I swore once, and I said I wasnt a green motherf*cker. How is that taken as hostile, any idiot can see what I was saying. Anyway, I am definately not a fanboy when I hate all the battlefield games except BF2 and BF:V, which owned. And probably a good reason why I dont like alot of these. I dont think many people have experienced those two games like I have and many like me. To truely understand the possibility with these games and how its always totally lost in translation to consoles, when all they need to do is port bf2 and I would spend £500 or more just to play it. Btw: f*ck sh*t c*nt wank sauce
beavis
Whether or not you liked the game or not, you can't deny it's early success: Acknowledge that together, we, as XBLA and PSN users, have reached a tremendous milestone: 600,000. That number represents the to-date total of $15 transactions between us and our respective online services to purchase Battlefield 1943; and we did so, overwhelmingly -- and in record-setting fashion -- on the first day and week of the game's download-only release. http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/23/battlefi...rs-and-records/

FullMetal
Oldage you are wrong. It's 1942 in a nutshell. Oh, let's replace the airplane with a helicopter and you have Battlefield Vietnam in a nutshell. Or, you replace it with a Helicopter/Jetfighter and you have Battlefield 2 in a nutshell :]. In other words: waiting for certain vehicles and watching them get blown up by others who are faster than you (but can't fly/drive for sh*t) is for some the core of the game. Daz
Dont get me started on statistics. I only bought it because I couldnt actually play the trial when it came out. I am sure half or more of the sales are just because of association with the games, people just bought it. Not that it aint a good idea of a game, there just should be abit more to keep you playing it. @the pic Nice one. Though I dont find people stealing the planes nowhere near as much as BF2. My main problem is just inefficiency with weapons, and just generally fighting with one hand tied to your balls. Other than with the Garand, the other weapons you just cannot kill more than one person at one time, and I f*cking hate games like that. I hate shooting someone for half an hour then moving on to the next person. I want to kill 3 people with a spray or a few single accurate shots. You just cannot do that with the pistols or smgs. The sniper rifles should really be a 1 hit kill too.

Lethal Nizzle
That pic reminds of the constant rush to get on the mortar cannons of Bad Company. Some instances even involved team killing, just for the use of it.

Vanzant
Hell, I can hardly play BF2 so I won't be getting this for a long while, I just want to ask why? WHY? The same damn stupid maps we have seen for ages? This is the richard we got for BF: Vietnam when the BF1942 map mod came out for it.
Lethal Nizzle
I think the trial game is pretty lame; allowing only thirty minutes of playing time before the need to purchase the full product is a waste of disk space. I managed to fit three games in before the trial expired. Although I will probably end up buying this if I don't find my Bad Company disc.

I got very bored of BC, very fast. Anyone else feel this way? No, they both suck. Bad company had better guns, better vehicles, better maps better era. So the only good thing about 1943 is the fact its an arcade game you can put in at any time. I hate WW2 I hate the sh*t guns, I hate the sh*t maps, I hate the sh*t vehicles. Most of all I hate the sh*t engine. At least bad company had unlocks and the guns were way more varied and more fun to use. It is VERY easy to get bored of this game, f*ck all guns and maps just ruin it. But, if it was Vietnam themed, I would never stop playing it. Which should be their next step. Vin.
For the first time (literally ever) I agree with you Daz, about the Vietnam theme. However I love this game how it is too. Some more maps would be lovely, though. And Daz, it sounds like what you want is BF2 on 360? There is a computer for a reason.
DemonKing
There is a computer for a reason. Yeah but even so, some peoples PC's might not be able to handle that, even though it's not a new game with huge specifications, some people still run on very old PC's. Also the fact that they might prefer console over PC etc. I'm not saying that PC gaming isn't good, just it's each to his own prefernce, there is up and down sides to both. Daz
And Daz, it sounds like what you want is BF2 on 360? There is a computer for a reason. Thats all I have ever wanted, and it wouldnt be hard at all to put that onto the 360 exactly how it is, just maybe change the control scheme to have a flip up dial menu to switch weapons/seats like to fit all the controls onto a controller. But yeah dont start up pc f*cking wars. I prefer the relaxing and reliability of the 360 which is why I would like it on that. It is way more likely people I know would be playing it if it was on the 360, and even if I had a pc that ran it propperly I would still want it way more on a console. In 1943 there is nothing left to do or work for. I have all the achievements, I have all but 2 awards that are obtainable. Ranks mean nothing, you get no unlocks. It just gets boring in two seconds. FullMetal
Played it yesterday on the PS3 at my uncles house. Kind of logic, I had to get used to the controller since I'm used to Xbox controllers now. I must say, it it plays alot better with a PS3 controller then a Xbox controller to be honest. Yes, it's alot smaller and the two sticks are right next to eachother... but personally I find it more comfortable. Though, I do enjoy playing on a Xbox too. Popped some nice kills to be honest... rushing up to three Americans. One with a thompson, two with garands all shooting at me. Pull out my pistol and I downed one soldier with a M1. Magazine is empty (since I missed quite alot) and I pull out my blade and chop the other two. I was surpised of my own action... even more surprised that I noticed that those 3 people were the ones leading in the other team slaughtering my team. They were either really bad (my team) or I was just really lucky. I think it was both .
Banana
Anybody up for some of this on XBL? I want to kill some stuff online, and this game is the only one I haven't played to death. I'm in. Kaj.
Can't seem to get the hang of flying, I guess I just prefer infantry fighting. Oh, and Vin, I'm working tomorrow, so I'm only available to play it from like midnight to 5AM your time.

Slamman
I don't typically like war games, but the realism factor is more impressive then most other games, and it's pulling me in that direction, I did, however pass up Battlefield 2 at the Goodwill for PC, it was a mere $3??!?! I wondered if you guys would buy it or not at that price. They also had several 360 and one PS3 game in their cabinets
Vin.
$3?? Bargain! I paid $99.00 for mine when it first came out.
Daz
What the hell man, how the f*ck does 1943 have realism? Its PURELY designed for gameplay. There is almost nothing realistic about it. One thing to be noted, BF2 on the PC is infinitely miles better than all other battlefield games. And have NOTHING to do with the ones on the consoles. Completely in all ways different. All console battlefield games suck, despite how much I prefer consoles and am dying to see a battlefield game as good as BF2 on the consoles. BF2 collection with all 3 dlc's for £5 is worth it, thats why I bought it again after already owning them. I have binned 1943 now. Way too boring now. No fun in it whatsoever. Slamman
Realism being the graphics, all I've seen are the demo vids and they sure look enticing to me, arcade gameplay sits just fine with me. yeah, $3 for a PC game, whereas, if it's Xbox 360 or PS3 they charge $25 on up
ChristopherD
Damn...finally found this thread!!! I knew there had to be one. I am glad to see the arcade style gameplay for a change. I grew up when there were ONLY arcade games, so to me, this is very refreshing! I have a few questions about this game. (I didn't read every post in this thread, so forgive me if any of these have already been answered) 1. Does the "Play with your Friends" portion of this game suck as bad as I think, or am I just missing something? I can NEVER get on with anyone on my list, whether I am creating the match or trying to get into someone elses! 2. I see ppl 'Fixing' their vehicles (Tank, Jeep). How do you do this??? 3. When playing Air Superiority, the game alternates me between the (sucky) American plane and the (sweet) Japanese plane in consecutive matches. But, I have seen other players just sit on the Japanese Team game after game after game. My question is how do they do this? 4. Not that I would forsake the American plane...I am starting to get used to it and despite the poor turning and the "Stall Factor", the plane's guns seem stronger and seems to take longer to destroy. Does anyone else feel this way? Also, are the differences between the two planes based on the actual 'feel' of the real planes? --------------------- If anyone remembers Crimson Skies (xbox), I think that the flying in BF43 is almost identicle! And I LOVED that game. And whether you like BF43 or not, you MUST admit that the online Multiplayer games out there are lacking when it comes to Flying games (I still get my ass handed to me on the ground...lol). Thanks, in advance, for answers to above Qs!
