Amaze
so I got a new monitor today, it's the first LCD I've used, always been with CRT. so I go try out gta4 and things look normal at night but when it is daytime the roads look weird. they have a sort of pink hue to them. I'm assuming it's because of my monitor but I'm including a picture anyway: anyone got experience with this and can tip me on how to fix it? Girish
I fail to see anything wrong with that pic. That's how they're supposed to look like. Or are you talking about the pink patches on the sidewalk? I'm not really sure about them.
Amaze
yea, it's mostly on the sidewalks. I dunno, the roads just look like sh*t. and the shadows look like spraypaint lol. I'll try higher res textures I guess.
Girish
The shadows will look like that no matter what you do. I just turn them off to avoid looking at them. As for those pink patches, I don't know if they exist in my game or not and I'm too lazy to check my game now. Have you tried updating your video drivers? Lollercoaster
If the problem is with your monitor, we obviously can't see the problem in a screenshot. Take a picture of your monitor with GTA IV on it...
ikt
Edit the monitor color things. Or it's defect, in that case, return it.
PepS
Now that's a coincidence, today I've bought my first LCD monitor too. For many years I've had CRT's (all the great ones!) and I thought that its the best source of image that human from a computer can get. I've played GTA IV @ 1920x1440 on my CRT, and after changing to 1680x1050 LCD... the image quality have gone better! All i wanna say is STFU CRT fanboys . But hey, about this "pink hue". Can you tell us what monitor you have bought? Does it have a DVI connector? Do you have some strong magnet nearby? Some powerful speakers?
AmbiquitY
The shadows only get OK when set at High, lower then that they'll look terrible!
MitchyK
Looking at your screenshot, the "pink patches" are by pedestrian crossings. Are they not just the that pink safety pavement they put at crossings nowadays, and you're only noticing it now, because of a higher res monitor? I'm not in game right now, obviously, so cant check. But I will! MitchyK EDIT: Yes it is that pink non-slip safety pavement, i've just checked the same location and several others, so unless you have pink patches somewhere else, it's normal. Amaze
yea it seems the pink is indeed normal ^^ as far as the crappy looking roads go, I seemed to have solved it by uninstalling the samsung magictune tool and calibrating the monitor manually. also added a bit of digital vibrance to brighten the colors. looks pretty good now also the best setting for shadows seem to be 1 in density. they are no longer as distracting but you still get shadows at least. MitchyK
I'm not a fan of samsung's software, I've stopped using their monitor utilities, i use the nvidia control panel, it gives waaaaaay better results, and the phone software for my omnia killed my outlook! Glad you're all sorted, now go enjoy your high-def liberty city journey! LOL MitchyK
