For the first time, at least on Centre Court, there'll be no rained off matches or matches put off due to darkness. Just as well too, because Monday's match between Andy Murray and Stanislas Wawrinka was a fantastic, five-set match. He went on to beat Juan Carlos Ferraro in straight sets today. Currently watching Roddick - Hewitt. Roddick is a set up and the second set is currently in a 7-7 tiebreaker. Good match so far. EDIT: Murray said he wanted his semi-final opponent, either Roddick or Hewitt, to be tired from a long quarter-final match. Looks like he's getting his way. Hewitt's just claimed his first set, the second of the match, in a 12-10 tiebreaker. I tend to watch whatever's on, rather than specific matches, but the few games that I have caught this year have been great. Any stand-out games for you so far? Also, with Nadal out through injury, it'll mean a new Men's champion. Who d'you think it'll be? I reckon Federer may win it; though if Murray does get to the final then he could win it since he hasn't done too bad against Federer recently. The Murray v Wawrinka was a great game full of tension and going 4-0 down in the first set it looked like it was going to be one of those days for him but he come back strong only to let Wawrinka come back into the game. Going 3-0 up in the last set you just thought he would of breezed into the quarters but he seemed to collapse, but he finally made it across the line. Murray and Wawrinka are training partners and best friends as well aren't they? Currently watching the Hewitt-Roddick match and so far it's been good, Roddick about to win the third set after demolishing Hewitt. 7-1 in the tie breaker. Roddick now 2-1 up. Might want to change that a little, Seddo. Murray is out and it's Roddick vs Federer at the finals. It's going to be one crunch game with a tiring Roddick who just phased off Murray in a 3 hour encounter. Might want to change that a little, Seddo. Murray is out and it's Roddick vs Federer at the finals. Why would i change it when that post was like 2-3 days before the Murray v Roddick game. My point still stands though, Roddick and Hewitt tend to let themselves down in the Grand Slams. Murray was a little unlucky in the end, losing two sets on a tie breaker and having a set point in the fourth set was it(?), i just hope he doesn't become the new Henman and bottle semi finals, i'm sure he'll have the Wimbledon trophy in his hands one day. If he had won he would of been a British winner, now he's only a Scottish loser . /jk The woman's final was on today? i thought both single finals are played on the Sunday. Roddick looks pretty devastated, so I feel bad for him. Hopefully he has another good run in Wimbledon next year. Also, Federer has beaten Sampras' record of 14 Grand Slams. So he has every right to be gutted, if he was with any other people than Federer and Nadal, he would have won at least two more grand slams than he has. robably one of the best ever one slam wonders... Seddo Posted July 5, 2009 Share Posted July 5, 2009 I watched this in a pub on the end of a pier in Llandudno lol, well i say watch but i didn't start until early in the 4th set, i think Roddick was 2-1 up and about to break Federer. But during the fifth set i had to go where Federer was 7-6 up or something, can't belive it finished 16-14 though, just epic, look forward to wacthing the highlights. I didn't really mind who won the final really but whist watching it i found myself being anxoius with Federer. Shame about Roddick though he played some great tennis and he must of been pretty knackered during the last stages of the fifth set after going to five sets with Hewitt and Murray. He was off-form for four sets as Andy Roddick got the better of him, however as the hours ticked away and as his opponent tired he pulled out the talent and the style to win a brilliant final. How Roger kept hitting two/three Aces per game in the final leg of the match I do not know, the man is a beast! Six Wimbledon titles, and his 15th record Grand Slam title, now Roger is undeniably the greatest male Tennis player ever! If there was ever a defining moment in tennis which could win you or lose you the match then the second set tie breaker was it, having four set points in a tie breaker when you've only lost 4 out of something like 28 and you go onto lose it, then that's just crazy. Roddick defentley showed some nerves at the end of that set. Becker was funny when he said "Oh my god" in his accent when Roddick dropped the ball and it rolled away just before his serve. Federer must seriously have some balls of steel with the amount of pressure an anxiety he must of put himself under to try and stop Roddick getting those set points and break points. Some of the shots he played under those circumstances were amazing. He didn't play his best no where near and still Roddick couldn't get past him, he hung in there and Roddick was just knackered as those shots he had at 15-14 were aweful. He's just one wimbledon win away from equaling Sampras' record of 7 Wimbledons. Just Amazing. He did say that it wouldn't have been that interesting even if Rafael Nadal was in the tournament.
