Girish
I'm pretty sure the woman must be cursing the man for saving her when the man lies in the hospital fighting for his life as a reward for his good deed. This is why I don't help people who don't need help. Just let them be.
M. H. Hunter III
Give the sophisticated worlds 10-15 years and Assisted Suicide will be the norm. Or at the very least hopefully by the time i get around to going.....as it would be hard me to off myself really. George Brosnan
Ok, i'm not saying the man didnt do a really good deed, in fact, i really respect him right now, but why is it that everyone that tries to commit suicide is considered Screwed In The Head, some people just want to let go of life, without having to go on a massive killing spree and getting killed by cops, if someone wants to die, let them, its like, if you where eating a Choccy bar, its gonna kill you earlier, but i would be pissed off if someone slapped it out of my hand, yknow. Seachmall
Bybee was in the area delivering food to an Alcoholic Anonymous chapter near the collision site... Who the f*ck is this guy? It's "giving a sh*t" personified. In saying that it's not his business. As George said some people just want to die, not because they're depressed but because they've no connection to this world. If people want to end their life they should be allowed, who is anyone else to tell them they have to live their life? I realise he was just doing what he thought was right, and putting her before him was very honourable to say the least but if she wants to die it's not his choice to make although I realise he probably wasn't thinking very deeply about it, his instinct was to help which is beyond words. She should leave everything she has to him, or to a charity in his name, because he deserves it and she obviously doesn't give a sh*t. She could have picked a less selfish way to do it as well, how did she think the driver of the car that hit her would have felt? What a bitch. Emotionally unstable or not you have to think about others when you plan to top yourself.
tuareg
It's not like he couldn't have been careful before running across the road. He really had nothing to do with it in the first place plus it was partly his fault he was hit. As harsh as it sounds.

What a bitch. Emotionally unstable or not you have to think about others when you plan to top yourself. She was just being an attention whore. If she was gonna kill herself, she wanted to make damn sure that people saw and it made the news. And don't tell me otherwise, because if she didn't want that, she wouldn't have chosen a public street to do it. Edited July 1, 2009 by Runey. Mike Tequeli
if you see someone trying to commit suicide let them do it. This. Helps solve the population crisis as well. There is no population crisis. I believe in euthanasia but if you see someone trying to kill themselves because they hate their life or whatever, I think you should intervene or at least try to talk them out of it. Most demographic charts show the population cresting at 9 billion and then staying there once the third world starts using birth control more frequently. The birth rate in most western countries is below the rate of replacement, so if it weren't for immigrants there wouldn't even be population gain in the UK, Germany, France, Canada or Russia among other countries. Trust me, I've researched this thoroughly.
chris
It was the dudes fault he got hurt, usually when people aim to commit suicide it usually means that they want to die, he should have let her jump instead of being another have-a-go hero.
Typhus
It's a shame this happened. But I guess it's only inevitable when you try to do something noble in a world so selfish and uncaring. You do your best, you try to be the good guy, to do right by other people and at the end of the day you still get dirt kicked in your face. No wonder she wanted to die. You'd have to be crazy not to. Seachmall
I believe in euthanasia but if you see someone trying to kill themselves because they hate their life or whatever, I think you should intervene or at least try to talk them out of it. I'm sure there have been suicidal people who have gone on to live normal lives. Some suicidal people don't hate the world nor do they want to be talked out of it. In fact they may understand what's going on and what's really important better than most of us and to try and talk them out of it would just be condescending. For some people suicide is just another option, it's the easiest and least painful and that doesn't make them "cowards" (somebody was going to say it). And I agree that suicidal people have gone on to leave normal lives but it never goes away, it's always in the back of your mind.
Typhus
And I agree that suicidal people have gone on to leave normal lives but it never goes away, it's always in the back of your mind. That is very true. If you have those feelings from childhood. The idea that nothing matters, that you don't matter, that death is preferable to a life of constant indignity and abuse. Then nothing will change that. How can anything change that? We can't all be rock stars and successes. No. Most of us are destined to be forgotten. How do you think that creeping reality impacts someone who always felt like less than nothing? You can stop someone from killing themselves. But how long have you really brought them? A few days, weeks or years? The feelings are there. And they can never be exorcised. Not really. It's like a beetle burrowed deep inside your brain. Nothing can dig it out. Mike Tequeli
I fully acknowledge nothing I do in life will ever really matter, but it doesn't bother me much. I figure there are people like Sylvia Plath who were simply incapable of living normal complete lives, but that isn't always true. It's just like how not everyone really wants to live, contrary to what a suicide prevention quiz would tell you.
gtathebest4ever
i don't know what to think, i respect the man for trying to help, but he's a perfect example of what happens when you help someone who didn't ask for help.
Seachmall
I think it's somewhat impossible to describe but the feeling of not caring to the point of suicidal thoughts is a lot more common than most people realise. Probably the most accurate description I've ever read on the subject was the suicide note of Philip Gale, he wrote it before he jumped from a building in MIT killing himself, Presumably I have jumped from a tall building. . . I am not crazy, albeit driven to suicide. It is not about any single event, or person. It is about stubborn sadness, and a detached view of the world. I see my life -- so much dreary, mundane, wasted time wishing upon unattainable goals -- and I feel little attachment to the future. But it is not so bad, relatively. I exaggerate. In the end, it is that I am unwilling (sick of living) to live in mediocrity. And this is what I have chosen to do about it. . . take care world, Philip. And stay happy :-) Most people don't go that far but they do think about it, you probably know someone who feels like this whether they speak about it or not.
