I'm going with Seven Samurai. Yes, it is that good.

This is one of the few times I'll go against Seven Samurai. Shawshank Redemption is just so great from beginning to end. It flies by everytime I watch it. The prison break scene alone is a reason to vote for it.

I thought that all the fuss over Seven Samurai, and the re-polling of it against Heat would have made some of you realise that it is something really special.

Most definitely Seven Samurai. I might vote against it if it comes up against The Godfather.

Both of these films are ones I've walked away from absolutely stunned and it was a really hard choice.

 

However, I loved Shawshank Redemption just that little bit more. The characters, the story, the message, it all comes together to make a film which in my Opinion is better than Seven Samurai.

I said it once and I'll say it again (just because I like to bleat my opinion) I find Shawshank Redemption really overrated. I just don't think it's as good as people say it is. But Seven Samurai is gorgeous! Now, if only I can get a decent DVD transfer of it...or Blu-Ray:D

I've said it before, the price of the Criterion dvd is so f*cking worth it. I'm pretty sure they're in the process moving all of their collection to Blu-Ray.

 

But yeah, Shawshank is a damn good movie, but I don't think it can stack up to the sheer beauty of Seven Samurai.

I genuinely feel that it's really overrated. But yeah, I mean not that good as in the fact that it should have left the competition last round.
