mr.devil_demon_666
One of the biggest goofs in GTA IV is that the surname Bellic can't exist. That's because the Serbo-Croatian language can't have two consonants in a row. And second because troughout the game, his surname is pronounced as Bellik while infact other names like Florian Cravic and Darko Brevic are correctly pronounced as Florian Cravich. The correct spelling should be 'Niko Beliæ'. You can also hear Niko ocassionaly talk Serbian troughout the game and also hear him screaming random taunts, (crashing, falling, shooting) while most of these taunts and sentences are pronounced incorrectly. here's the link http://gta.wikia.com/wiki/Niko_Bellic

TopHat01
OP, at least quote your source. You look like a fool copy and pasting it.
Magic_Al
His surname can be explained if he has a male ancestor from another country. What, no one moves around Europe? As for Michael Hollick's pronunciation, he's an American actor and did a good job. Dialects and foreign languages are difficult and Serbian is frankly pretty obscure to most people. Although Niko is Serbian, the fact that's never clearly revealed creates some wiggle room for what his language is supposed to be.

TonyClifton
Well, I guess if you completely create a surname, that no-one else might have, then you can avoid anyone saying you are dragging their family name through the mud with a wicked computer game. foohy
Hey! Here's some more goofs for you to add: -None of the cars in the game actually exist! -Car commercials wouldn't show someone getting run over or make fun of the car -Liberty City doesn't exist -In real life there are an unlimited amount of people. Not a bunch of copies -The world isn't made if pixels! This is a huge goof... -Swingsets don't work like that! -No one could get shot in the head multiple times and survive! -A first aid kit can't instantly heal EVERY injury! -You would not survive falling off a skyscraper by landing on a lightpole -You can't just spawn cars with a cell phone! -Days aren't 48 minutes long! -Body armor doesn't protect your legs/face/arms/etc. -Need I keep going? IT"S A FREAKING GAME!!! It's not supposed to be 100% true to real life! If R* thought BelliK sounded better than BelliCH then that's that! Can a mod lock this pitiful excuse for a topic now? AnotherDave
Bellic plus a bit of creative license on Rockstar's part. So what?
numdmind
No one knows where he's from, it's never stated. For all we know, it's a completely alternate universe with different countries altogether. It doesn't exist in this world, and if you're going to nitpick over crap like this, you should just end your life and become an accountant. NickJ47
His surname can be explained if he has a male ancestor from another country. What, no one moves around Europe? Apparently not, the severe cold is far too restricting.....and the snow....don't even get me started. I am not sure how this relates but go with me for a second.
