860 Posted June 30, 2009 Share Posted June 30, 2009 pretty simple. if you could be the dictator of your country for some period of time what would you change? sh*tty laws? flag ain´t awesome enough? prefer the national song to be made with electric guitars instead of violins and what not? what i would change: laws to do with religion. in here you have to pay tax to the evangelic lutheran church even if you´re not registered as a evangelic lutheran on the churches books. but only the money you get from a private business (store, bar, barber shop etc) which is still pretty f*cking retarted. also the evangelic lutheran church is the only one allowed to collect taxes from their followers. i think that every religion should be allowed to do that. the way TV works is also f*cked up. there´s this channel (the first one there ever was) called YLE and they basically just rent their .."bandwidth" (idk) to other channels. but the f*cked up part is that every person who owns a TV has to pay this TV owning permit payment. and it goes to YLE. you have to pay it even if you dont ever watch the channel since it´s pretty much just for old people. now they´re getting greedier and some boring people with apparently some amount of political authority are discussing that every citizen should pay this payment even if they didnt have a TV. this would mean that even homeless people (the very few that there are) would also have to pay, a thing they simply cannot do. but the most f*cked up thing of all are the sentences rapists and pedofiles get. or rather, the lack of sentences. even a case where the woman being raped got physically injured is concidered "mild" (dont really know the proper term) and the rapist gets away with parole. so, what would you do if you could have the highest authority and no one could question anything you do? A life sentence is usually around 20 years here, and murders get out in less than that. A woman had her children murdered and got around $30,000 for both her children's death and the damage done to her. The Piratebay boys are fined to pay $3,5 million and they have be imprisoned for a year. Sure, they've caused damage to the Hollywood corporations, but they seem to be doing all right. And the immigration is a huge problem in Sweden. I'm an immigrant myself (lulz), but I'd definitely close the borders. Why doesn't America take in any refugees? I think that two cities here have taken in more refugees than America alone. I'm sorry if I'm coming across as racist here, but I'm an immigrant myself, so ya. I will strive for change and strenghten international ties. I will work to make my country a fully developed nation in a few years time and I will do my best to industrialize the whole country. It will be a free country though guns will still be illegal. I will improve education and put more funds into healthcare. I will certainly fund the technology development in my country quite alot at the same time I will make use of the natural resources my country has for a better overall economy. And hopefully in a few years time, my country will have nuclear power to be used peacefully as energy. I will encourage the performing arts and media in my country as it kinda sucks at the moment because of certain issues like the muslims in my country being really conservative. People in authoritative positions (cops, politicians, religious figures etc.) who commit crimes have their sentences doubled. All drug laws are removed, money is put into education. Bring in conscription. Bring in capital punishment. All unintentional crimes (such as accidental manslaughter) are reduced to only community service (this doesn't include acts of negligence such as crashing your car because you weren't following the speeding laws). Bring in stricter drink driving/speeding laws and punishments. Chemical castration for convicted paedophiles and rapists. Develop a system where only those who send out 3 CVs every 2 weeks can receive unemployment benefit. Remove any form of cultural, nationalist or religious pride from the political spectrum. If you're a contributing Irish citizen you're entitled to everything regardless if you're an immigrant or not. That's all I have for now. I would make absolute fools out of them all by enacting overly strict laws that are impossible to follow. As well as absurdly liberal laws that turn the country into a moral cesspit. Basically, I would use my power in a legitimate attempt to destroy modern civilisation and turn the country into a theatre of the absurd and depraved. Doing this would ensure my assassination which would lead to my real goal - a renewed appreciation of democracy and order. You need a real son of a bitch in charge to make you realise what a great deal you have. The alternative is apathy, which is exactly what allows dictators to take control in the first place. Posted July 1, 2009 Share Posted July 1, 2009 create department of peace, stock it with reputable people completely overhaul prison system- free anyone convicted of victimless crimes such as drug possession immediately. with the exodus of people, close some prisons and better the conditions for those who deserve to be there, so that prisons are places where people can actually get rehabilitated. liberalize drug laws. increase subsidies to needle exchange programs and treatment/prevention, subsidize places for the seriously addicted to congregate off the street and/or get help. decriminalize most drugs. massively increase social welfare. bail out some of the people who are getting foreclosed. create a viable form of universal healthcare. create living wage. repair crumbling subsidized housing. start building more federally-subsidized low-income housing in mixed income building projects, as this is a better model. invest in infrastructure, including building mass transit in a lot more cities. stop building as many new roads for cars. tax cars, tax breaks to non-car commuters, increase fuel emission standards increase tax on rich, increase corporate taxes (and actually enforce them) allow for more public interaction with decisions to go to war and military budget introduce national referendum system this too: Religions pay full tax.
