The Horror Is Alive
What makes people think Rockstar will use a real town or state for the next Grand Theft Auto? The only real city they've used is London for one and a half games, and that was pretty unrealistic and dumbed down. Nope, it would create too much controversy. It just strikes me as a bit ignorant. CarpetDweller
I don't think most people are expecting "real" places. Liberty (IV), San Fierro, Las Venturas, Los Santos, Vice City were all based off "real" places. They just adapted them and changed the name. But we all know what they are inspired by. When people say they want GTA: London or GTA:Hong Kong or GTA:chicago they nearly alway only mean "inspired by". It's just an easy way to get the idea across. I'm sure you've seen the way internet forums work. Sometimes someone will have a really good idea, put loads of though into every little detail and maybe even come up with a place name. The first person wades in and says "GTA: [insert name] City! That's a sh*t name!" Then we get 4 pages of people only discussing the name and not what's important. Personally I hope they alway keep the "inspired by" approach to all things like locations, commercials, cars and weapons.

The name isn't the game. If R* released GTA sh*t everyone even yo mama would buy it.
