Installed it, followed the instructions to the letter, now the game won't start as it has a WS10 error 'XNetStartup failed - please re-boot your system and.or reinstall the game 10093 203'

tried re-booting no joy - so thanks a lot!

Had to re-install patch 1.04 for some reason after installing this mod to be able to play the game.

Nice one!

Have you change the DOF as well?

I don't like the near and middle DOF.^^

But after all, one of the best visual mods i've downloaded.

Awesome, can't wait to apply the update.

I do have a question however.

How do I increase the reflections for the vehicles?

You can do tihs with editIV.

Its a nice tool and pretty easy to handle.

But I don't get the difference between the reflection on the cars and the streets.

I think they are both the same. If you raise the reflection on the cars, the street will reflect also more.

Can it be? Seems to me...

'cause it looks a bit funny... staying on the street, sun burning like hell... but the streets reflect like heavy rain...oO

Take also a look at Nico's shoes! Such shiny shoes... never seen something like this^^

Looks really great, i tried different modes.

But if we talk about realism i like the weak reflection (low end cpu/gpu) the most.

because it gives just the right amount of reflection everywhere.

if you try the other modes and you look at the grass in for example raining weather, then its like driving on a mirror/glass (too artifical looking).

Question for developer of this mod : Is grass reflection seperated from road reflection or not?

No, RAGE engine use the same parametr for any material (roads, glass, grass etc.)

tried the new one and i like the improvements and ease of installation. I used normal reflections with DOF and it looks good and the performance doesnt take a hit. Good work guys

Agreed.

I will also add to the discussion my anecdotal experiences with this mod.

I've been gaming on the PC with bleeding edge hardware for roughly 20 years now, and have been perpetually looking for a game that can push my hardware to the limit, always looking for a game that will make me exclaim HOLY SH*T!

In 20 years, only 4 games have managed to do that for me:

1. Doom2

2. Unreal

3. Crysis

4. GTA IV with VisualIV mod

I use a trainer to lock the weather to Extra Sunny (0) and set the times to 9AM, 626PM, and 12AM.

I also installed the first person mod (and for what it's worth, the radio mod for walking on foot and set it to some trance music on Ind FM).

I cranked virtually all of the settings to Very Highest (and still got a very respectable framerate)

I then proceeded to walk around Liberty City.

Sufficed to say, my jaw literally dropped.

It was one Holy Sh*t moment after another.

The reflections.

The shadows.

The lighting.

The colors.

The draw distance.

I thought that Crysis would be the last game for a lonnnnnnng time to evoke such a feeling of astonishment from me, but you've managed to do it with the VisualIV mod.

It would have almost been a damned shame too, because I was initially reluctant to install it, dismissing it as some sort of gimmicky mod based on its description.

But the before and after is like night and day.

This is truly amazing, I am truly astounded by your efforts, and I would be remiss if I didn't at least mention that.

Thanks again for this truly amazing mod.

SCARFACE1991

Guys the 1.4 version is just fu**ing great. Every mod that I installed I had something to complain, but this is perfect in my opinion, the lights, the reflections, shadows etc. look awesome, try to set the clock at 7 Pm and the weather on extra sunny and then drive at one of the bridges. I almost promise that you will be spechless how awesome the graphics are. Keep up the perfect work, this mod is the sh*t. ;-)

I don't use it, because while the mod let's me choose between DOF and No DOF and various Reflection amounts, and high end and low end cards, etc, it forces me to have that horrible and awful left/right and up/down motion blur, which makes me feel sick, and stops the enjoyment of any views as you turn, etc. For this reason alone, I use the Environment mod.

Uhhm, i dont have any motion blur at all with visualIV?

You sure you didnt press the P key by accident which enables motion blur?

Yes, you're right, didn't know about 'P'. Will give it another go.

Hamidxa : which settings do you use?

A combination of settings.

First the specs im running are:

181.72 NV drivers on my GTX 280 (all subsequent drivers caused a loss of performance for me, anywhere from 5-12 FPS, so I reverted back to these)

Quad-Core OC'd to 3.6 GHz

4GB RAM

W7 Ultimate Release Candidate

Running GTA IV with patch 1.4 at 1920x1200

Brightness and Contrast (within game menu): Both set to 1 notch below default

Saturation: Set to 2 notches above default

Every single in game setting is set to either High or Very High (as high as each setting would allow me to set it)

Draw Distance is set to 28

Detail Distance is set to 55

Vehicle Density is set to 100

Shadow Density (i think thats the name of the setting) is set to 0 (yes I turn it off, this is what KILLS performance big time, and it's a setting that neither of consoles even have, it's a pc exclusive, and turning it on kills framerates, and it only nominally affects visuals)

As for the mod itself, I prefer to play it at Very Sunny (setting 0) and freeze time at certain intervals (found 9AM, 630PM, and 12AM to look slickest)

As for the mod's settings, I selected:

NO DOF > Reflection Normal > high-end CPU and GPU

Running the game's built in benchmark tool yields 62 FPS on this setup.

any new on 1.5 yet or are you finished now.?

No, now we don't release Visual in version 1.5. The numbers of later Visual will be 1.4.1, 1.4.2 etc.
