Regor245
well, i was going to request a non-DoF version of VisualIV... then i just decided to remove it and just press "P" ingame.
hexelbit
i think he would probably do that for ya. It seems he has access to those types of things, i dont really like dof either in any game, or motion blur, because in the end they are just cinematic effects and not really necessary. I like sharpness and if im doing 190 mph downtown then I dont want anything distorting my perception of reality.
kor0ro.k3yz
sorry I accidentally posted on a wrong post, so i edited it with "nvm" messing with my graphic card via nvidia control panel, just discovered I can force my it to use a different Anti aliasing. anyways ive got good framerates 50-40, 30-20 very crowded area due to my traffic density 100 o.O, with High textures and everything on medium, anisotropic x16 no problems with trees thanks to your post hexelbit
GrndZero
How well does this work with someone already getting anywhere from 35-60fps normal and recording in Fraps with about 26-34? All my settings are on high except for shadows and a couple other small things. Does this increase the amount of memory used in the Graphics options section? Th3_S1lv3r_0ne
Hi, sadly I have to report that the NO MOTION BLUR option in the final 1.7.8 doesn't work, it reduces the motionblur a bit but it's still here and very annoying, could you please check it and maybe try to fix it? I'm sure that I'm not the only one that hates the motionblur but likes the dof. UPDATE: I just found the problem, you left the cam.followped.blur.cap value as 1, so I changed it to 0 myself and now it works! K2mil
First off all thank you guys for this mod! I'm currently playing EFLC and got into modding recently. I tried ENB but ended up not liking default settings and I gave up on it. There was way to much configuration to do and I just don't have luxury of time to try all day. Life of Polish American emigrant in USA just don't alow me to spend time all day modding. Cut to chase I'm using your mod and I'm liking it so much I think it's great alternative to ENBs. I read the post in this topic and I find out the squares on car reflections can't be fixed by this mod. Is that true ? Are you guys planning to support fix to this bug ? Do you know a way to fix it using third party mod ? I use injected SMAA with your mod and game look just like screens from new GTA V By the way something for new users the ENB WERE stressing my 570 GTX temps TO 90c on this mod my card runs at 64c on a hot SUMMER Chicago day Love this mod This is my first post on this forum and I'm sorry but if someone could recommend other mods that would complement this masterpiece I would appreciate it Thank you and hello everyone Thank you my polish brothers Dziekuje Edited July 13, 2012 by K2mil

I can't fix this bug, because I don't know what shader is responsible for car reflections. I use injected SMAA with your mod and game look just like screens from new GTA V I use FXAA, which is in nVidia Drivers. It don't cost any fps. FXAA in drivers have been since version 301.24 beta. Arctic77
can you do a no dof version but keeping motion blur. because I'm using fxaa and make my game a little blurry so fxaa+dof looks too blurry especially in far distances and trees

ripple
I am trying to figure out if this mod should be run with or without some ENB series mod or ICEnhancer. The readme says that it is recommended this mod run with Ultimate Textures 2.0 and 'ENBSeries 0.082 BETA 7', so can we just unzip all the VisualIV files over a more recent version of ENB or ICEnhancer install?
Silent
Installing VisualIV on ICEnhancer is a bad idea. I have ICEnhancer installed on Visual though and it's fine.
ripple
Ok. But.....isn't VisualIV intended to optimize the visual settings so we gain performance? If we install ICEnhancer on top of it and some it overwrites the files, then what would be the point of installing VisualIV?
Silent
Visual makes things better, the optimizations are only a "side effect". You'll still get better coronas, blood, rain effects and some textures
ripple
Thanks for that. I still have a bunch of questions though My rig just barely meets the 'recommended system requirements' for the game, which means that it's not really performing all that great with the base game unless graphics are turned down to mostly 'medium' (this game is such a horrible PC port....). I find the base game graphics too 'bland' so I tried an ENB series mod....Vulkor's ENB 4.0? I can't remember. I didn't notice a significant drop in FPS but I didn't play too long with it installed, since I found the interior lighting excessively yellow and unbearable (probably could have been adjusted....). So, I am wondering: 1) Will I see a significant FPS drop with ICEnhancer? I read somewhere that if I run with medium graphics settings (which I am already doing), a PC that meets the 'recommended system requirements' will handle it well. True or false? 2) Should I install the Ultimate Texture Pack 2.0? Someone mentioned this a few replies back and said it made the game look much nicer and wasn't as much a FPS hit as one might think. Rockstar did it so. 1) Will I see a significant FPS drop with ICEnhancer? I don't test new version iCEnhancer, but version 2.0 cause significant FPS drop. 2) Should I install the Ultimate Texture Pack 2.0? ripple
Thanks for the reply robi29. I've done my own experimentation, and here my findings for those who are lurking or still wondering what they should install to make their games run/look better. My rig: Core2Duo E8400 9800 GTX+ 4 GB ram Win 7 As you can see, my machine just marginally meets the "recommended requirements" for GTAIV. It won't allow 'high' texture in the graphic settings without the 'norestriction' commandline. I generally play with all graphic settings at 'medium' except shadow quality and reflection resolutions, which are set at 'high.' View distance, detail distance, and vehicle density all set at 100 (night shadows off, since it is pretty much useless). 1) In the unmodded base game, I was getting 15-24 FPS. 2) With ICEnhancer, running FXAA, I never see more than 20 FPS except in interiors. Plus the game runs 'sluggish' at peak traffic (I could probably have gotten better performance if I toned down view/detail distance and vehicle density). This is with a bunch of settings in the iceconfig.ini turned off, like AmbientOcclusion, Skylights (which I had to turn off, because I was getting red sky boxes due to running with the 1.0.7.0 patch), ReflectionsForceHighPrecision, ReflectionsExtremePrecision. Even with these settings off, the game definitely looks much better but nights are too dark and virtually unplayable. 3) With VisualIV by itself, I saw no FPS gain or loss from unmodded base game. However.... ....I followed Hexelbits' excellent guide here: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=502804 I reinstalled the game, installed Better City Textures (VisualIV readme states you should install Ultimate Textures but I think that mod has been superceded by BCT), TreesModIV, then installed VisualIV. I saw 5-10 FPS increase from unmodded base game, plus the game looks better due to VisualIV. Nights are dark but not unplayable. Now my FPS while outside ranges from 18-30, depending on traffic conditions. Even when I see <20 FPS, the game is not sluggish and I can breeze through heavy traffic just fine. Great job robi29, hexelbits (for the guide). Edited July 27, 2012 by ripple
