alrite so the game has nvr ran smooth for me from the start but after installing this i am now getting an average of 10 Fps. totally unplayable

Firstly,this update is made especially for preparing GTAIV for the upcoming DLCS if u want proof check how the GTAIV files changed! and

"THE NEXT GOLD MASTER BUILD PRESSING'' is the upcoming retail DVD which will have The two DLCS for PC!

I decided to install GTA IV on Windows 7 Build 7260, the Installation worked well, after that i applied Patch 1.04 and replaced the Unprotected Launcher from Securom/Rockstar Games with the orginal exe. I started the shortcut, activated it and it say i need to put in the DVD. Thanks Rockstar, now i can't play anymore with NoDVD, now i need to stick that crappy DVD in my drive and listen to that annoying rotating piece of crap or wtf?!

To save people having to read through the whole topic, here's a quick summary of the most common issues and some potential solutions:

 

1) If your performance has gotten noticeably worse, go to the Game menu and ensure that Clip Capture is turned off.

2) If you get errors when installing the patch, make sure that GTA IV and Social Club aren't running.

3) Delete any mods if the game won't start. Remove any ASI files. As a last resort, try re-installing the game.

4) ATI and NVIDIA released new drivers this week, so try updating those: http://www.gta4.net/news/4266/new-drivers-...-ati-and-nvidia

5) If the game is stuttering, read this: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=404147

6) Refer to the modding forum if your mods no longer work. Things like ScriptHook require updating.

 

Don't use the benchmark tool to determine your game's performance, because it isn't entirely accurate. I got an extra 5-6 fps after installing the new patch, but the benchmark tool indicates otherwise. Play the game and judge for yourself.

So i installed it manually,getting ready to log in..;asks me to download update,this takes ages..Finally it gets to the setup in windows,does its thing and then ingame when trying to log in it asks again to do the update?Its like a loop..

The strange thing is,i installed this morning and it worked?

You don't know how to f*cking read?I just said that I've lost 2FPS in benchmark but gain a lot of performance ingame, and asked help with my savegames.

Now I'll get a ban for saying that I liked the patch?That I gained FPS?Of course it's not a useful post, I don't want to help nobody, I just wanted to say that the patch is good and ask how I can get my savegames to work again.

ive installed patch 1.4 and i noticed something i am using creative audigy 4 and 5.1 setup. i cant actually hear sounds from front center speaker with 1.3 it was alright!

Finally i got the game working with the *************.

The patch doesn't give me any performance boost or decrease.

I didn't noticed any changes.

I hope Patch 1.05 will improve the performance of the game.

this patch made gta work great with windows 7 32-bit this made gta 4 more comfortable to play

Yes, because for some reason, performance only decreases a lot with Shadows on. (With off I get almost 50FPS sometimes) It didn't happen in Patch 3.

The support pages will be up in a couple hours. This is an update more than a patch but we did optimize a few things so the game runs better.

I don't know, I'm just guessing but I've been testing it for a while now and for some reason the game responds the same as when I used the -memrestrict commandline (which didn't work for me). Could it be that it's build into this update? (improved the resource management numbers to detect and adjust accordingly to different operating systems) Just guessing.. But the game seems more empty to me.. like there is some kind of restriction.. and that's not what I need because for some reason my pc runs IV the best with some settings maxed out.. I'm going to do some tests with higher values, see if it maybe overrules..

I installed the 1.0.4.0 patch and the Catalyst 9.6 drivers at the same time so I can't say what is responsible for the decrease but this is what I saw: Of course I'm not complaining about a .31 decrease. Does anyone else think that the latest patch decreased a lot of the shadows? It just seems as if my game went from completely loaded with shadows to now only seeing a couple here and there.

Glad someone else brought this up; it didn't "decrease" my shadows (off in options) so much as it made them more "III-series like". Which, for my low specs, works out great; before this patch, they were quite jaggy and, well, dynamic. Now, they're flat and unmoving, more like VC to me than anything else. Maybe the "auto detect" fixed this for me? I DID just do an OS reinstall as well, but overall the game seems a bit less jerky to play. I'm able to get a solid 22 FPS during the day, and about 15-18 at night.

 

P4 3.0 -> 3.4 HT

7600 GS 256, factory clock and mem

Realtime Priority

All options Off or Low in game, 800x600x60

FSync off,

memrestric 200-ish (second one in Troubleshooting sticky), no precache, minspecaudio

 

C++ hook is updated, game runs decent for me. I'm having a hard time trying to come up with something to complain about, so let me just say thanks to the team for all your hard work. Much appreciated.

 

EDIT: Oooo, just remembered, I also turned down my HW accel two notches as I'm still having some minor issues with other games; maybe that made the shadows more bearable for me?
