same here; I don't see any point in risking losing performance or losing game content like we did with Patch 1.0.2.0 (hotdog venders, etc)...

I can still play single-player without any problems; I'll just stick to what I have: Patch 1.0.3.0

Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA 4) 1.0.4.0 Patch is available now. This patch adds some multiplayer changes, graphical improvements, security patches, performance boost and few game control features. Do you run a modded version of the game? Did you install everything correctly?

 

Check out the editing discussion about IV/RAGE and use some of the 'tools' (filechecker and such). Normally you can get it running.

 

I got it running though I just had a random crash that occured (GTAIV.EXE has stopped working or something). Gonna try it a couple of times, maybe it goes away.

Absolutely, multiplayer cheating has got to go, rockstar made an awesome game only to be let down by a spoilt MP protection so I'm still hoping rockstar and gfwl are working on something, I hate the report cheater function in gfwl.

I remember when MP was a blast with no one cheating, instead the MP games filled up with sad brain dead idiots just showing up to p*** people off.

 

About the 1.0.4.0 update, single player improved in 1.0.3.0 and has got even smoother fps now, got my fingers crossed for the next patch for it to have a well developed anti cheat for MP, it is a vital part for its longevity.

Well resources are managed better, you dont 'see' any difference but you memory is used more efficiently No a bad update if you ask me...

Hey! I did a little experiment:) I think that everyone installs the latest patch after they have installed the GTA IV on their pc but is it enough?

 

Now this is what I got - patch 1.0.1.0(I don't have it so I excluded this one), patch 1.0.2.0: Weight - 32.5 MB(including the RGSC update), patch 1.0.3.0: weight - 54.7 MB(including the RGSC update), now the patch 1.0.4.0: weight - 54.7 MB(does it include RGSC update? I don't know).

 

When you install them all one by one, not every file writes over the old ones and guess what, the weight of all of them put together (without RGSC updates) is 104 MB. So the question is do we have to install all the patches to have better performance?

Erm, no. When a file is overwritten so is the space that it takes. You don't add the file sizes. And I think R* Toronto made it very clear in their first post that you don't have to install the previous patches if you're doing a reinstall.

 

Like all previous updates, this contains all the fixes from past title updates, so there is no need to re-install previous patches if you have to re-install the game for any reason.

Does this update fix z-fighting (flickering textures)?

I'm not so hopeful but Ý just wanted to ask, cause for me, it is the most annoying problem for me among all other problems of gta iv pc.

 

Sadly, from what i have read here, i guess this patch adds new bugs to the game rather than fixing the existing bugs.

Now, it has been more than 6 months since the game's release, and most people have finished and uninstalled the game months before, but we can't even get a decent patch to fix this crappy port yet.

 

PC users don't deserve this.

The support pages will be up in a couple hours. This is an update more than a patch but we did optimize a few things so the game runs better.

Hey R* Toronto. Are you gonna add for the next patch:

 

-Gym Mod (where you can do muscles and all that like San Andreas);

-Barber Shop;

-Tatoos Shop;

-Tuning for cars.

 

Just wanah know, that's all.

 

But it was good if you made this, every people (even me) will say "GTA IV is better than GTA San Andreas".

Those were the most pointless features of San Andreas. Please, don't.

Patches fix bugs and upgrade code in the game's executable and files. They don't add such features.

I can no longer click "Players" in the custom match menu to check which server has the most players on it. Clicking it just does nothing. Oh and my player model still has no shadow whilst in vehicles.

Unfortunetley this latest patch gave me a performance decrease and some weird stuttering.

Naturally I thought it was because of the mods so I uninstalled and did a clean install again without any change to performance (ofc after patcihng up).
