1.0.4.0 killed my frame rate. Is that normal?

 

can I uninstall it? This is the first and only patch I've ever applied. I want to try 1.0.3.0 since most people say it helped frame rate.

it screwed it for me aswell, but remeber that this patch alters your graphic settings, also have your video drivers updated.

 

If you really wnat to roll back ( i did ) do a repair install of the game, download the patch 1.0.3 and apply it

Hello people, I just signed up to ask something.

 

If im correct, with patch 1.0.4.0 Rockstar added an anti-piracy measure where if the game is ran without social club, cd, or GFWL it will within 5 minutes of play cause a "drunk" effect where the screen shakes violently and cars accelerate by themselves, basicly the game becomes unplayable.

 

My question is (I have a licensed copy of the game) why is it that I activate the game online, it works fine with the CD and SC enabled, but when I install xliveless the game has this "drunk" effect? It's really annoying, I hate social club and even more GFWL, so i use xliveless so that i don't have to put a CD into the drive and to avoid SC/GFWL.

 

Any Tips? Should I reinstall the game and only install patch 1.0.3.0?

Read the readme that came with xliveless, it states (if I'm not mistaken), that you need to launch GTAIV.exe instead of launchgtaiv.exe to get rid of the drunk effect.

The Xliveless allows you to run the game without the disc!? That's news to me. I think Tunned might be using a no-dvd crack.

@ sjaak327: you were right i had to read the readme, it clearly states that i have to run LaunchGTAIV.exe in order to avoid the drunk effect. It's just that i just installed patch 1.0.4.0 and had no idea what the "drunk" effect was untill i experienced it and searched on the internet.

 

@ girishb: no i'm not using a NO DVD crack because yes, xliveless does let you play the game without CD, only not when you launch it through LaunchGTAIV.exe, which is where all my problems are coming from.

 

Any ideas where i can download a good LaunchGTAIV.exe which does not check for DVD?

Ah ok thanks for clearing that up.

I guess you are right, i can't find anything online any way, i just don't like putting the DVD into the drive and then having to take it back out to put in some other CD, it's annoying. Looks like i'll have to.

Can't f*cken imagine what will hapen to this game in 2 years when everyone will have DX11 HW and everyone will want major graphics upgrade because the performance will be out there.

It is possible to play with the OFFICIAL no DVD crack, i always play like that, even worked with patch 1.0.4

I think you haven't noticed that SecuROM have removed the no dvd launcher from their site because Rockstar asked them to. That should make it pretty clear that Rockstar does not support any sort of no dvd launcher, official or not. Now please, can we stop with the no dvd crack discussion once and for all?

i have noticed that since day one, that is why a lot of people posted it on megaupload or rapidshare, now who's talking about support? i thought the issue was either if it worked or not with patch 1.0.4. I tried it, and it does work sneaky2.gif

I solved my nodvd problem found a official patch that WORKS finally , and MP works like before when i inserted disc same, only difference is that i dont need a DVD cool.gif

Just for the hell of seeing if it was removed from their site, I searched and found it not removed. Its still there.

Yes, but it's not the no dvd launcher. It's the normal launcher that is installed automatically with the game. Try downloading and replacing it with your original launcher. It will still ask for the disc.

Hey Rockstar, I just found a very serious bug in this patch that didn't happen to me when i first installed this patch: If you have more than 1 video on the Video editor gallery, they don't appear correctly on the list and when you click one, it disappears, and so on. For example, I have 3 rendered videos, only 2 show up and if I click (e.g) GTAIV MP Fun, it may get me to another video of mine instead of that one, and then the one that's suposed to be disappears from the list. When I check My Documents/Rockstar Games/Videos/rendered, they're there. Please fix this as it's frustrating.

Try deleting all files from the Settings folder. More info here.

 

This is assuming you have no mods installed, no no-dvd cracks and you're running the game from RGSC. If you've applied the patch from within the game, then try reinstalling and apply the patch manually from outside the game.

 

If all fails, try Xliveless and see if it works.

 

If still no luck, then make a new topic in the Troubleshooting forum giving a detailed description of your system and your problem.

Can you link me to a source which says that? All that I see mentioned everywhere is that it's going to be released for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. No mention of it being released on the PC first and then ported to the consoles.

 

I think you're going by the first Mafia game. Don't expect the coming games to be made for the PC first. Remember how GTA started? They all are going to end up being console oriented anyways.
