Quite a few people have suggested applying the 1.0.3.0 patch over the new one to rollback, but personally, I wouldn't recommend it. It's better to reinstall the game and then apply whatever patch you want to apply.

any 1.0.4.0 leftovers may cause harm.. so don't waste time and just reinstall. Lazy guys...

If people would just heed my advice, you would be able to roll back without having to reinstall. I haven't done it myself though, because I haven't had a need to roll back.

There's still deadzone during steering. Every other game works fine, but this game has huge deadzone.

anyways, repaired the game, installed 1.0.3 put the mods back on, put all my settings the way they were (i suppose) and the game shadows are now enjoyable again, the end of the afternoon on gta iv is priceless, also pushed up the graphics and made a benchmark, notice my gpu is a 512mb one:

I wouldn't see a reason to do more patches, anfter once they fix the pixelation of reflections and not having recoil with mouse,.

A few people say it works, but I wouldn't recommend it. Some files from the latest patch might remain unmodified creating issues with the game. So, it's always better and safe to reinstall the game and then apply whatever patch it is that you want to apply.

BUG REPORT

 

1 The Rain is not working properly, I can hear the rain, the road becomes shiny, and Niko reacts to the rain, but I cannot see any rain

2 Texture flashing is still present, but it has reduced a lot since previous versions

3 Some shadows are still messed up, however the majority of them are now looking much better than in 1.0.3.0

 

Will test some more later, system spec in signature

Rockstar`s Toronto patches always fix one thing, broke second.

 

This is pretty same mistake that was present in 1.0.2.0 patch where most of Hot-Dog stands , fire stairs and lot of things VANISHED!

 

Now we have VANISHED RAIN!!

I ALSO CANT SEE THE RAIN AFTER THIS PATCH 1.0.4.0 !!!

I know that u are pretty often victim of placebo effect) Each time when new GTA 4 patch out and screw something for HUGE MAJORITY of peoples (like the hot dog stands and misc stuff removed from 1.0.2.0) u come and say pretty same things:

 

"This bug affecting just small minority, i have not seen any presence of this bug so im not affected and all fine.... GTA 4 isnt Crysis" lol )

Goddammit, when will they release the new update? It's been more than a month.

 

Ooh i hope it better be good, or else i'll just get angrier and angrier. This superb game really2 need some tuning.

The performance is ugly and i cant play it smoothly for more than half an hour, i have to keep changing the resolution or restarting the game every now and then.

And there's absolutely no solution except using an older video driver.

 

Please rockstar, fix this game, and hurry!

The update does not delete savegames nor does it change their location. Were you using Xliveless, by any chance?

Try doing a search for files starting with 'SGTA4'.

 

If you're on Vista or 7, go to Start > Games > Right-click on Grand Theft Auto IV > Saved Games. This will take you directly to your savegames folder.

I have 7 and that isn't working for me. I get cool options I didn't know were even there but, not the save games folder location option in any form that I can see.

This latest update causes that wierd LOD bug though, where everything morphs as you look around. Annoying, but I can live with it.

I have windows 7 as well and there is not a 'Saved Games' option here either.

 

Your saves are probably here: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames

can I uninstall it? This is the first and only patch I've ever applied. I want to try 1.0.3.0 since most people say it helped frame rate.
