Not sure about that, but Rockstar themselves have said that it includes fixes from the previous patches.

Patch 1.0.3.0 = 55593 Kb

 

Patch 1.0.4.0 = 55587 Kb

 

The difference in size can be entirely accounted for by differences in content and differences in compression.

 

Patch 4 contains all the files in patch 3 with only 5 files being changed/replaced by patch 4.

I finally decided to install this patch. I downloaded it from R*'s site and when I started the patch, it said it could not open binkw32.dll for writing. Nothing gained from retrying or ignoring. I have no mods.

You don't have the game open do you? Maybe you ALT-TABbed out instead of closing the game and forgot. Maybe try closing GFWL and RGSC too. That DLL has something to do with Bink Video. I guess that's the format GTAIV's video editor uses.

 

If all else fails, use this to unlock the DLL. You have to find it(its in the GTAIV game folder) and right-click on it and choose unlock. But I can't imagine another game using this DLL when its in the GTAIV game folder, so this shouldn't be necessary. If it was in the System32 folder then I would say you have another game open that uses this DLL. But that's not the case.

I edited my previous post. Oh and if you have RGSC load on start-up, maybe that could explain why that DLL is locked.

What did unlocker say? No handle found I guess? Try booting into safe mode and instaling the patch there.

Apparently Unllocker doesn't work under 64 bit. So if your running 64bit it wouldn't work for you.

Shutting MP off to those that don't have the latest update has nothing to do with "anti-MP-hacker" policy. As far as I am aware ALL MP games have had this, everyone needs to be running the same version of the game. This isn't just a thing unique to GTA 4 every MP game insists that all users have the latest version and if you don't have the latest version it won't let you play.

Loss of fps, and now GFWL just decides to disconnect me every 5 minutes or so. I can just reconnect while still in game, but it's still bloody annoying to say the least. Nothing wrong with my internet connection or anything else. GFWL has just decided to start being ghey(er).

If you want to roll back from a patch, all you have to do is make a copy of the game folder (and the settings file if you don't want to configure everything again) BEFORE installing the patch. If you don't like the new patch. just copy the copy over the current game folder and viola you're rolled back.

It took me around 3 minutes to do a repair install. Suck it up.

If you wanted your modded files back, you shouldve backed up your folder.

Why does rockstar have to make a rollback function to put BACK your mods?

 

They dont support mods, so I dont see why they would make a rollback option to put your mods back.

What would be nice is work on the MP side.

 

Needs a seperate program for multiplayer away from mods,hacks,cheats etc. Add mod free MP option in the phone. That way any script hacks are locked out. I wish there was a switch to allow only main game scripts and ignore any additional unqualified scripts. Allow only original ingame scripts. (people can still mod with the old sp)

 

Then the PC version online would be wonderful.

 

Played 95 games 45 crashes/spawners the rest cheats and script kiddies (lag increases there to) and eventually everyone bombs out of the game.

of which ONLY 5 games free of these troglodites were a joy

By the time everyone votes (most of the time they dont) the spawners crash or mess up the game. (did you take into consideration those who cant understand english??)

If you crash you cant get back in (server should recall all player tags to allow back in)

 

if the last player on the opposing team disconnects the game should continue on.. when they relaunch the game it should have a option for them to rejoin the game(non banned ppl)( if nothing happens after X min (admin setting) forfeit game

if you are the admin or normal player and GTA crashes you cant get back in the game so you are locked out.

 

No MP game setting save. Do we really have to redo the settings over and over before a new match grrr

Needs organising features for frequent players, personal fav, new or normal friends. sublists for each category. (try sifting through 80 friends) grrrr (make it like MSN live's contact arranging)

CLAN options to join up a group of people for clan matches and multi invites (only if that person joins that given group otherwise might become spammy)

 

When will rockstar rewrite MP software all together and give all powers to whomever launches the game (a real admin with permanent ban and 24 hour kick option)

 

Kick + ban - complete admin plus no additional scripts or mods can be used for MP we got an actual game worth playing and buying

 

50k copies maybe out there for pc (selling off cheap because ... mp sucks) I hate to think how much money and reputation rockstar have lost... tut tut..

 

get your beta testers to play unreal 3 + server (those folks know how to make multiplayer software)

BEFORE 1.0.4 = GAME WORKS FINE, NICE GRAPHICS, MY SETTINGS ALL TOP NOTCH

AFTER 1.0.4 = GAME DOESN'T WORK THAT FINE, HORRID GRAPHICS, MY SETTINGS ALL SCREWED UP

REINSTALL/REPAIR = LOOSE A LOT OF TIME TO TRY AND MAKE EVERYTHING THE WAY IT WAS BEFORE

 

What is wrong with wanting my old files and configuration back? Should everyone read the log before to know exactly each file to backup?
