Staff At Rockstar Don't Know How Cars Work

Were you ever driving a car on a level road then you come up on a hill and you hear the RPM of the car go down as it is struggling to go up the hill?

Have you ever ridden a motorcycle and you come to a slope and you just take your finger off 'W' and let gravity pull your vehicle down the slope and somehow you hear the motorcycle engine working harder as it speeds up going down the hill?

It is for these reasons that Rockstar doesn't know jacksh*t about cars.

In real life if you were accelerating on a flat surface, your RPM would increase (and would change is your car is switching gears but thats behind the point), and when you go up a hill after this acceleration the RPM of your car would INCREASE AS IT IS DOING MORE WORK TO GET ITSELF UP THAT HILL.

Also in real life if you were riding a motorcycle and you just decided to let your bike roll down the hill and stop giving it gas, the engine of this bike WOULD DO LESS WORK (but you will still hear noise because the engine is idle).

your the only one whos wrong.

Rockstar probably know more about cars than u do, cause when you go up a hill the rpm of the car goes down cause its heavier to go uphill than downhill or even on a flat surface.

The rpm dont go up when the engine is more loaded. Thats a matter of course. biggrin.gif

your just a regular american that dont know about stick shift.

and when your going downhill (with a manual shift of course) the rpm goes up even if your foot is off the throttle cause the vehicle tends to roll faster downhill and if the clutch is not pushed then the revs of the engine will go up, easy as a sh*t.

sorry for not perfect english blush.gif

Get a life. Buy a real car. And you'll get the perfect driving physics. Seriously.

A- f*cking -men. When I always see you telling people to f*ck off and telling them that they live in "a third world sh*thole", I don't think gtaforums gives a f*ck about what you think when you obviously don't give a f*ck about what other people think.

Not only that the way he put his sentance together makes no fing sense so it is obvious he is a little slow we will say which is why I didn't pick on him.

i have an mtx125r 2 stroke and when im going down a slope i DO hear the engine gradually working harder.

I don't think he was refering to mopeds lol.giflol.giflol.giflol.gifbiggrin.gif . I kid I kid.

Seriously though yes if you are going down hill and have your car in gear and the clutch engaged you will hear the motor rev up if the hill is steep enough that is to make the car keep picking up speed while in gear. That part is realistic, my car does this as does every other car.

dude its got 36bhp at the back wheel. Its also got 5 gears and keeps up with my friends cbr600 and my other friends bandit 1200 up to 80mph. moped, pffft

I doubt that. I have some, back ground with motor cycles. Besides this is way off the subject any way. We should pick some where else to have that debate.

This is such a stupid post, like honestly, whats next, GTAIV doesn't have birds that fly accurately?.. Seriously, posts like these make you look as stupid as this:

Do you really think R* gives a damn about making it uber realistic driving, I don't think so. They want it to be as realistic as it needs to be to get the job done. Why do more work than needed? Next are you gonna tell us R* should have made it so each cars engine fully functions with moving pistons?

GTAIV isn't meant to be super realistic, ever wondered why the cars dont run out of gas. Or why half the buildings don't open, and why Niko can take such abuse and bullet wounds and never need a cast or 5 month recovery.

I understand how you can make this form, but it seemed to be more of a attack on R* rather than just a thing you noticed. Which was shown clearly in the title, stating that they don't know how cars work. And I think simply that's what pissed off alot of people. Honestly what kind of response were you expecting?... If you would have just made the forum saying how you noticed it and then just analyze it, well then it would have all been good and dandy. But your tone, and sheer ignorance is what lead you to these responses you see.

I could have sworn you could double tap the accellerator to shift down up a hill or something, otherwise it just drops to the bottom of the current gear. Not 100% on that though.

i agree that this is the wrong forum for this debate but im telling you the truth. big one exhaust, better mikuni barb. rebored, bigger racing piston, changed gearing, the list goes on but anyway...

I'm sorry, it's really not on topic, but...

Ahahahahahaa

*wipes tears from eyes*

I'm sorry, but as much as learners don't want to hear it, but if you've got 36 bhp at the back wheel and you're keeping up with a cbr600 then it's either shagged or you're mistaken. Even a clapped out 600 would put out 60bhp at the real wheel. A bandit 1200 is aprox 100 bhp at the rear on a dyno.

If you're keeping up with them then they don't know how to ride.

If you want my qualifications I'm riding a honda cbr1100xx with 130bhp with the aftermarket scorpion exhausts I have fitted.

Wrong. Your RPM will decrease when you go up a hill IF you don't change gear up or press harder on the accelerator, as RPM is linked to wheel speed through the gearbox, and you will slow down as the car does work against gravity.

GTA IV does driving better than most games wink.gif

That's what I think, too. If you go at or near max speed of a car, then hit a hill, the car will get slower, the revs will drop. Then release and press the accelerator again to shift down in gear.

And that's not new in IV, it was in SA already I think.

To the original poster : way to embarrass yourself with your "knowledge" about how cars work! icon14.gif
