I just can't wait to watch my team again, it's been too long since I have seen Andre kick ass.

Honestly, we are really just ultra passionate about our team - there are usually just a few bad apples that do stupid things that give us the bad name as fans (that we might deserve).

Honestly nobody should be that stupid about a team. Wish a muf*cka would pour beer on me. That entire stadium would have to kick my ass.

 

 

Anyway Mcnabb has moved from rival team to RIVAL team in my eyes and can't wait to see it all unfold.

I'm pretty sure you would change your tone once you saw what you were up against . Any time I have seen violence it was always started by a 'visitor'. We don't throw beer at people - it's too expensive. Usually what happens is the 'visitor' can't take the hours of taunting and they end up freakin out.

Last nights game against Jacksonville was entertaining. Kolb looked more then solid - even with our patch together oline. Even Vick looked half decent minus a few bad turnovers.

They can say what they want. All that taunting is usually lame anyway. Can't be worse than here. People talk so much sh*t here it doesn't make sense, but honstly if somebody throws something at me it's gonna be like the pistons pacers game.

The Eagles need to get their O-line adressed immediately. Kolb's not having any time in the pocket, and although im really impressed by his scrambling abilities I want him to be comfortable. Running the ball isn't any easy when your O-line is beat up. But the good thing is that its the preseason. You can't get too angry.

 

Last year Jamarcus Russel's QB rating in the preseason was 96.4 and he completed 66.7% of his passes.

Don't know the tactics yet, but so far enjoy american football, playing madden 08 and understand it a bit better now. One question though, on the 4th down, do they always go for a kick(or fake kick), and never a normal play?

On fourth down most coaches will punt the ball. It is completely optional. The reason they usually punt is that if the first down isn't obtained on that fourth down the ball will be turned over. This means wherever the ball is downed will be where the opposing team begin running plays. A punt is meant to place the other team farther back so they have more field to work down for a touchdown.

 

 

 

Uhhh you don't want Madden if it's on the PC. ES have horrible track records with their sports franchises (nba, nfl,) on pc's.

Unless they are really pressed for time and a long way down in the scoring stakes the team in possesion will generally punt or attempt a field goal when they are on a 4th down. An example to the contrary would be John Riggins 4th down TD in Super Bowl XVII.

 

Apparently I read somewhere that if teams didn't always go for the FG when they are on the 4th down under 30 yds from the endzone, then it would be worth roughly 5 extra points to them per match. Can't remember which book it was, some sports statistics and economics compendium that I got on a freebie.

 

Anyhow, I am a Brit convert to the NFL, ever since the helmet catch I have tried to watch whatever matches I can but I always have to tape them since they are always on at stupid o'clock due to timezone differences.

I grew up playing little league(pop warner) football. Sometime during the 80s over here it looked like the young kids were switching to organized soccer and away from little league football. I wonder if they same thing will happen in reverse over in the UK? Young Brit kids switching away from soccer to american football. That would be wacky.

That is an interesting thing to ponder, and I have never really thought about it.

 

However I just think that the British sporting market demands a fast paced rapidly changing game, like football or rugby, whilst the American audience like a lot of hard hitting action, just in a small time period, like in american football. I would think that because of this basketball would be much more likely to take off in the UK, and with young talent like Luol Deng going to the NBA and being influential over there we could very well see a lot of British youngsters playing basketball instead of more stereotypically British games like football, cricket and rugby.

I can't see American Football taking off here huge. If the NFL were to create/move a franchise here as rumoured it might get a little more popular year-by-year but then it would have to be a national franchise; I can't see myself supporting a London team that much since I haven't even been there, let alone live there. If they created an English team- Super Bowl winners claim to be champions of the WORLD after all (that's something that annoys me about American sports but whatever)- I'd defo try catch a few matches live. But a London one, yeah f*ck that.

 

Speaking of Madden, I might have to support Kansas too. My "Be a Pro" quarterback on Madden 2009 became the hero of the Super Bowl winning Kansas side. Cassel who?

YEAH! IT'S TEXANS FOOTBALL SEASON! We are gonna kick the Colt's ass....

Nah, this is going to be a hard game. I don't see either team dominating, I can easily see us winning. While also easily seeing us losing, it's one of those games.

 

The thing is, like our last 3 games against them we were leading going into the fourth quarter. In our last game we were leading 17-0 at one point, but then we stunk it up. The reason we did is we lacked maturity, and experience in close games. I think we have gained some maturity and we did gain a little experience in close games in the Pats game of last year.

 

We had the talent last year to beat the colts but we didn't have the maturity, and now I think we might have the maturity so hopefully we can beat them.

 

I just wanna start off this season 4-0.....of course that's any fans dream.

It's a great place for football fans to go to, I love the Texans one and many of the other ones have great fans!
