Redskins make offer to Brian Westbrook. How many RB's do they need? They gonna run the triple back formation?

It's the Redskins, dude....that should be an explanation for every bone-headed move they make. They're only 2nd to Oakland in that category. (Though they did finally get rid of Mr. Last to practice, first to leave, JaMarcus Russell).

Yeah, and Champ Bailey for Clinton Portis? Zoinks!

I would like to see JaMarcus go to a franchise he could fit in at, and for someone to tell him what he needs to. Parcells? Miami?

Yup, yup, Marshall had hip surgery right after trade to Dolphins. Has 'caused some stir with fans and such I hear, seeing how this injury "wasn't mentioned" before the deal... But Marshall has had two hip surgery's last two years. Dude is a beast and it will be interesting to watch him in a miami uniform.

Redskins make offer to Brian Westbrook. How many RB's do they need? They gonna run the triple back formation?

Willie Parker, Clinton Portis, Larry Johnson and now Brian Westbrook? Five years ago this would've been the single greatest collection of running backs on one team. However, that's not how things are now. Parker can't stay healthy, having broken his leg a few years back, then a knee injury in 2008 and last year he had turf toe, which finally gave Mendenhall the starting job. Westbrook has had any and every injury imaginable, it seems. He had knee injuries in college and the pros, foot injuries, ankle injuries, broken ribs and concussions. Portis and Johnson, on the other hand, have just been run into the ground. They sustained so much punishment from so many carries over their careers that they have been run into the ground. And the thing that ALL of them have in common is they will all be at least 29 years of age by the middle of the season. Westbrook, Parker and Johnson will all be at least 30 by November and Portis will be 29 by week one. We all know about that 30-year wall that running backs hit. That, combined with their histories? All I can say is, they're done. We all know that Mike Shanahan loves running backs, though. The Redskins throw money at all of these players - Adam Archuleta, Albert Haynesworth, DeAngelo Hall - and never get anywhere. I think this is another instance of that happening.

Clinton Portis for Champ Bailey wasn't a bad trade at that time. They both played very well at that time and continued to play well until the same time pretty much. Both have gotten older, lost a step or so and have lost their job to younger, healthier players. It wasn't a bad trade at that time, though, both teams benefited.

not to rag on Russell but the only place i see him at is in a buffet line. in order for him to get back in to the NFL he'll have to swallow his pride, lose weight, and play in a lower league like the UFL/AFL/CFL etc etc.

Golden Tate got in trouble for buying doughnuts with a friend while the shop was trying to close at 3 am tounge.gif

supposedly he was drunk lmao

Should be interesting to see how the NFC West unfolds. right now i think it will be 1. Niners, 2. Hawks, 3. Cards, 4. Rams.

I dont like how the Cards are relying on Leinart and Anderson when neither have had starting type careers so far. plus the Cards lost alot of players like Boldin and i dont like the moves they made to fill said holes. Replacin Dansby with Porter isnt too good. They Seahawks had a phenominal draft one of the best ive seen from any team in recent years with their first four picks all being 1st round projections at some point in the year. The Niners had arguably the second best draft this year and are the most complete team in the NFC West. and the lowly rams have their franchise QB but will Sam turn out to be the next Phillip Rivers or the next Matt Leinart. They lost Atogwe which was their best Defensive player by far in my opinion.

sh*t, this is Matt Lienart's year. If he doesn't show something this year, then he is going to be a backup for the rest of his career. He still has the best WR in the game with Fitzgerald, so he has somethin'.

Vince Young plays Pacman in a strip club!

Police say Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young received an assault citation after an altercation at a Dallas strip club early Sunday morning, but no arrests were made.

Dallas police Lt. Andy Harvey said Young was not at Club Onyx when police responded to a call of a physical confrontation. Harvey said the incident was being investigated and no arrests were planned. He said he had no other details on the incident.

Harvey said an investigation led to Young receiving a Class C assault citation, punishable by a fine up to $500.

According to CBS affiliate KTVT in Dallas, which first reported the incident, Police officials interviewed witnesses and reviewed a tape of the incident before issuing the citation.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher told TitansRadio.com that he found out about the incident early Sunday morning.

"I'd like to speculate, but we just have to wait until we get the facts," Fisher said. "It's too early to jump to conclusions."

The Titans also issued a statement Sunday stating they had spoken with Young.

"We are aware of the report about Vince Young," Titans director of media relations and services Robbie Bohren said. "The organization has been in touch with Vince and we will continue to gather addition information."

KTVT reported one person was injured in the incident, which allegedly took place after words were exchanged in the back office of the club. According to The CW affiliate KDAF in Dallas, the person assaulted is an employee of the club.

A video of the incident, according to KTVT, shows Young speaking to a manager when another man in the office makes a derogatory "Horns down" hand sign in refernce to the Texas Longhorns, Young's alma mater. Young is then seen charging the man before a fight involving multiple people breaks out.

The Titans are scheduled to conduct OTAs on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday this week.

The Associated Press contributed to this report

Yep, Vince Young is a man of the future, alright. Maybe I'd agree if he'd realize his position in the game is all about being a responsible individual. Sure, no arrest but even being in that kind of scene can break a career. I don't think I really need to cite any examples. We know who they are and who they could have been.

I'll take care of that for ya.

VY should've known better than to get involved, or continue to include himself, in that scene. Why? Pacman Jones was his teammate and we all know what happened with him in a Las Vegas strip club. Pacman is just an idiot, there's not other way to put it with him. He has been involved in other incidents of assault, vandalism, public misconduct, public intoxication and of course the strip club shooting(s). He was on the same team as Young. He saw that Pacman was suspended for the entire 2007 NFL season. At this point, he should know better! I'd be lying if I said I wasn't surprised.

Also, I think that VY should know better than to associate with these types of actions because of another quarterback which whom he has been compared to. Michael Vick. Now, I'm not gonna get into what Vick did, because I'm assuming that we all know. I think Vince Young should have learned to disassociate himself from people and places that could get him in trouble after seeing what has happened to Vick, who, like I said, was a player he has been compared to in the past.

Another example is Ben Roethlisberger. Seriously, Vince? Just two months after Ben Roethlisberger, a quarterback much like yourself, is accused of rape (...again) and penalized by Roger Goodell, you go and do this? You go out to a strip club, like Pacman, more than likely, with people you grew up with, like Vick, and allegedly sexually assault a woman, like Big Ben allegedly did.

It just doesn't make sense, he's been provided with every example to disassociate himself with these types of activities. However, it seems he's unable to do that. Much like he's unable to post number three overall statistics.

Believe it or not, I'm actually inclined to agree with DOOM! on this one. I'm open to hear your suggestions for best in the game right now, though. I'd say DeSean Jackson will definitely be eligible for this type of discussion in a few years. Can't wait.

Fitzgerald is a guy who steps up when his team needs him to. Watching him in the redzone is amazing, just watch him.

Ever since I have watched him in College... he has had a knack for the endzone. Dude is simply amazing, and doesn't need 40 or 60 yard TD catch's to prove it.

Manning has just come off two MVP seasons, with a Superbowl appearance. He came back from knee surgery two seasons ago, and now he just got a nerve in his neck takin care of that's been bugging him for five years. He says he feels better than ever, and his throws feel so much better. With Bob Sanders being healthy for now, and all of Manning's weapons returning, including a healthy Gonzalez; We are ready to make another possible Perfect Season/Superbowl run. I hope we meet the Saints in the Superbowl again, because nothing taste sweeter than revenge.

God Bless the Indianapolis Colts.

Andre Johnson is good - but not the best in the game right now. He often leads the league, at some point during the season, in receptions because he's the only real target a Texans QB has. If Johnson were to have a partner on the other side of the field, half as decent as he is, the receptions would be significantly lower.

Andre Johnson

Now I am not saying Kevin Walter is as good as Anquan Boldin, but he isn't as bad as King Kapone prob thinks.

Speaking of not needing long catches, I didn't realize Larry's longest catch was only 34 yards. Longest catch generally has no say on who is better, just found that was amazing.

See, you almost can't compare Andre to Larry, they both do diff things, Andre is a yardage guy, he gets us downfield but doesn't do much in the redzone. Larry is kind of the opposite, he didn't have a lot of yards, or receptions for long gains, but he is a beast in the redzone.

The Texans were in the top 10 in scoring so it was not like we weren't scoring, but for a while Owen Daniels was Schaub's fav in the redzone. We sucked in the redzone anyways....

The really only thing I can think of that could really put Andre over the top is his physicality, Larry is good, but compared to Andre he isn't exactly a big guy. Just look at that youtube vid up there, I want to see another receiver do that, let alone Larry.

I would more rather be inclined to just say they both are the best....

No wait, Andre is better, look at those rushing stats!! 5 yard average on TWO CARRIES!! Yeah, Andre is better.... tounge2.gif

Well, there can't really be two bests in the game, can there? NFL Network would lead you to believe Chad Ochocino is still the best. A lot of people would swear by Terrell Owens, but that number is definitely dwindling. There are a lot of DeSean Jackson lovers out there. And there are loads of Reggie Wayne believers. Truth is, I really see Andre Johnson more comparable, in the end, to Reggie Wayne. Two strong WRs who move their team down the field. Sure, Larry may not get the yards but he really does know how to make a circus catch look easy.

For a while, people were on Brandon Llyod's nuts because he knew how to do a one-handed grab every now and again. Now, it's all who?

So, Larry Fitz is arguably the best right now but like Lloyd, it'll wear off and we'll see guys like Wayne and Johnson as the best receivers for the last 5 or so years, maybe even a decade, but we can't leave Marvin Harrison out of that conversation.

Oh and btw, I'm KK, nice to meet you. I'm a Philadelphia Eagles fan through and through but I do have love for the Texans. Ever since they started. wink.gif

I'd also say Fitzgerald is probably the best at the moment. I also think that Hakeem Nicks is gonna have a very good year for the Giants. He was pretty damn good for a rookie.

If true team means best team on paper, then, yes.

Needless to say, I'm looking forward to Brandon Marshall this season. However, the other receiver I'm looking forward to seeing most this season is Dez Bryant. I'm nowhere near a Cowboys fan. Raised and surrounded by Giants fans, but some how ending up a Dolphins fan, it was kinda instilled in me to hate the Cowboys. Regardless, I wanted Miami to draft Dez Bryant, before the Brandon Marshall trade, so I'm looking to see how he'll do this season.

I think the best receiver can be argued many ways. Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson should be on the list, if you ask me, Randy Moss, Brandon Marshall, et cetera. I would have to say Andre Johnson, personally. His numbers cannot be denied. He led the NFL in receiving yards and made it look effortless. He had Kevin Walter and Owen Daniels to take away coverage for him, but I'm not scared of either of those two and would definitely be willing to make them beat me before I left Johnson in single coverage.

I think Larry is very good, there's no doubt about that. Let's see how he does this season, though. Andre Johnson has put up pretty good numbers with Sage Rosenfels and David Carr throwing him the ball, so let's see how Fitzgerald does with Matt Leinart throwing him the ball and Anquan Boldin not there to take away some coverage.

I might think of buying a Brandon Marshall jersey if he does well enough this season. I'm not jumping the gun yet, I almost bought a Culpepper jersey back in 2006. Good thing I didn't. But, I digress. Marshall, to me, is arguably the best receiver in the league. I said Andre Johnson was the best, though. Marshall can be argued to be the best, but I would argue him to be the second best in the NFL ahead of Fitzgerald. Call me crazy, but there's something about a receiver having over 100 receptions each of the last three years and then setting the single game receptions record with no other good receivers on his team and catching passes from Kyle Orton.

The only thing I don't like about B-Marsh, is the attitude, Larry and Andre are great people too. Brandon has had many fits, and I don't know if he is over that...

Speaking of being a good guy, I am extremely scared of Andre Johnson, he is such a nice guy that I get scared of that whole "too good to be true" thing. It's not like he sends off that kind of vibe, but it just scares me.

Call ME crazy, but there is something crazy about a receiver that leads the league in receiving yardage two years in a row which is something only Jerry Rice had done previously...and one of those years was with Sage Rosenfels throwing for 5 games.

Vanilla, what's Hakeems size? Is he as big as Plaxico? Which NYG WR do you think has the chance of be that kind of a receiver?

Nevermind, he is 6-0...that's a bit small for WR's isn't it?

He is kind of short for a WR, but he's got f*cking huge hands and he's fast. He made some of the best plays for the Giants last season, and that was his rookie year. Many people are expecting him to step up even more this upcoming season. I'm thinking he can possibly be the one who makes up for the loss of Plaxico.

Haynesworth skips mini camp and demands trade

I hate this superstar mentality that is dominating sports now. Players think that by complaining enough they deserve to be traded? Haynesworth signed a ridiculous contract just over one year ago. He signed a seven-year $100 million contract. He serves one year, a very lackluster year, and then demands to be traded because he doesn't like his role in the 3-4 defense as opposed to the 4-3? If I were Mike Shanahan or Bruce Allen, I would be alright with him sitting out of camp as long as he knew that he would sit the bench or be suspended without pay. This guy was not worth the contract they gave him, but then again, are any players the Redskins sign worth the money? Adam Archuleta, DeAngelo Hall, Antwan Randle El and Albert Haynesworth are just a few examples of players who they threw money at and have done nothing.

6'0" isn't the height everybody dreams about when it comes to receivers. However, it's not necessarily short. I'd say 6'0" is average. For example, DeSean Jackson, Santana Moss and Lee Evans are 5'10" and Steve Smith is 5'9". When everybody imagines the prototypical wide receiver, they imagine a 6'5" receiver, who runs a 4.30 40-yard dash and has a 40" vertical leap. Today, though, receivers don't need to be built like that. Especially, if they play in the West Coast offense, which isn't about stretching the field deep.

Speaking of Giants receivers, Domenik Hixon out for the season.

Personally, I don't think it will be a big loss for the team. He's pretty useless outside of special teams. His hands are pretty suspect, if you ask me, and the Giants have other kick returners. Maybe now they can get Ramses Barden some playing time. Substitute the 6'2" receiver with the 6'6" receiver. Barden would be perfect in the redzone. Being 6'6", he would tower over all defensive backs, much like Plaxico Burress, considering most DB's are about 5'10".

Back to the Albert Haynesworth topic. It's not only 'Skins fans that are upset with Haynesworth, but teammates are upset with him, too.

The captain of that defense is calling out the highest paid defensive player in the NFL. Good job, London Fletcher! icon14.gif He's a selfish player, he wants to play his way or not at all. However, he'll still take the checks from the team. Is that cool? No. Let him hold out because they won't let him play how he wants to play. Haynesworth is incredibly talented, but with his attitude he doesn't deserve to play for the Redskins, or in the NFL period.
