Splinter Cell: Conviction

stuff

Dont make me go all out, because I will. Just ask the people in the MW2 topic.

The controls are stupid. Even explained by most reviewers that gadgets are merely an option and can often not even be used. Reloading is a forced habit of many gamers that play shooters alot, more of an OCD thing really but usually this practice of reloading all the time saves you the awkwardness of being caught with your pants down. As it is a stealth game there is no real reason to stand up, other than just to move quicker to other areas, usually when all enemies are dead or none in the available area. So that is not as important either. As for death from above kills, They are done with the LT cover button not the crouch button so there would be no reason not to switch crouch, gadget and reload around. Way more games have the COD loadout of controls which all are familiar with, or the vegas style. Halo can f*ck off, and its no way a tactical game anyway. Either way there is NO reason for them not to let you choose at least a set of other game's presets, or set your own.

Precice aim I was mentioning was when standing, it cancels the aim, though you can keep it aiming if you only press it lightly, but as I and others have old controllers that stick, this is not an option.

The shooting combat is designed around the pistols, the primaries rarely have any purpose other than to get you out of a possible jam which you shouldnt have got in, in the first place. I enjoy them but as said, there is no point when your pistol is unlimited.

The accuracy baffles me, how pistols drop range or accuracy for no reason. I know you can upgrade them but its kind of a lame feature just to castrate the user and to encourage people to get closer.

The text and videos on walls I no longer have an issue with, much more is at hand.

Bullsh*t is the shooting positioning anything other than style for the game, even if it does exist to shoot weapons like this, its a very rare thing, older weaponry would likely jam when fired at funny angles or upside down, not to mention ADS would be pretty awkward and your balancing with heavier weapons like the rifles, which they also hold sideways. Also I hope you are not trying to imply that he is using the recoil as a horizontal swipe to hit multiple targets faster, firstly that is some pisspoor way to do things and secondly way too reckless. This is the opposite of tactical, you no longer will be able to use gravity to re adjust your shot automatically.

I would rather have a clutterless nice looking pistol without stupid optics, than the ability to execute more people, in my eyes I find that a much better payoff.

I dont mean run and gun literally, but I want the option to go loud, and have propper firefights, cover to cover. An assault rifle or SMG should be able to mow a bunch of f*ckers bundled up or be accurate at all ranges for headshots and such. They seem pretty useless unless sprayed at one target, sometimes I dont want to be stealthy, like the iraq mission, the assault rifles were WAY more accurate in that, and I enjoyed the f*ck out of that. I wish they stayed that way.

I have never played another splinter cell game other than the demo of the first, and only the demo and reviews of arkham. Either way pure stealth is about being undetected in all ways, silently taking out an entire army is not thinking ahead, and really isnt the way anyone would do it, other than a serial killer or a maniac.

I am not saying go loud the entire game, but sometimes it would be fun to just spam people coming out of a doorway vegas style, then dissapear and shoot the re-inforcements in the ass as they go to that location. Your friend you played with was just a retard thats all. I just cant help but feel useless when trying to use my weapons as self defense, rather than just offing stationary targets in the head from 2 meters away.

But dont get me wrong this game is fun, just the shooting and other issues about the weapons dissapoint me.

The controls are a bitch to get used to. Other than that, this game is f*cking brilliant. I loved the old stealth splinter cells, but this change was needed. Only thing i didn't like is how sometimes you're forced to be aggressive, wich i find pretty hard to do effectively in a 3rd person shooter. Oh well, i'll get used to it eventually.

I do like how you can go stealth>john-f*cking-rambo>stealth, though.

Uhmm.. no? tounge.gifI mean, are you bluffing? I haven't played the game but everywhere I've read, he's part of the main story and in the game. Doesn't he find the rat in 3E?

I haven't finished the game, but at the very beginning it confirms that Fisher killed Lambert during Double Agent, and that is one of the big reasons he went "rogue", along with of course his daughter's death.

Also, I'm down for Co-Op if anyone wants to give it a go.

I don't ask other people for my opinions, I make mine myself. If you don't like the game, fine, move on. I was just adding perspective, not "arguing".

he does, but it's a recorded message that helps explain things to Sam. Lambert talking from the grave ;_;

I'm having a blast with this so far, i'm up to the lab mission in the Singleplayer and i have to defend some files downloading, i'm also onto the 3rd co-op mission and i'm all for helping anyone on co-op. I've got a bunch of upgrades for guns too but i always spend the points i get from P.E.C challenges way too quickly.

About the Iraq mission, i had a bunch of fun doing it and thought it was a nice change of pace from all the sneaking around i'd been doing before as i pretty much just straight up attacked any hostile i saw in the Iraq mission.

I haven't finished it yet, but at the very start Coste tells how the death of Lambert was one of the reasons Sam left 3E.

But if it turns out otherwise, my bad as i haven't finished it yet.

I just finished the mission where (and seriously don't read this if you don't want to spoil the biggest secret twist this game had)you reunite with Sarah. Being someone who really enjoyed the relationship Sam and Sarah had in the first two games, which really showed how much she meant to him, it was a relief. I really thought she was dead for all these years. Although I'm sure she was meant to stay dead in DA, only to be resurrected for this game, to give Sam a reason to keep fighting.

Anyway, I'm comfortable in saying this is my favorite Splinter Cell game. And this is coming from someone who really loves the old games. But as I've said earlier in this topic, I don't think the old equation of hiding in the shadows and completely stealthing your way through a level, could have gotten better than Chaos Theory. The series needed a reboot, and this successfully did so.

My favorite level so far is the chase scene at the Lincoln Memorial. With the runner up going to being Coste in Iraq.

After the chase at the lincoln memorial i think Sam's one of the biggets badasses ever. Plus some of those interrogations are just brutal inlove.gif The game has it's flaws, but it's without a doubt what SC needed and i wouldn't have settled for anything else tbh.

Also, i liked how it was Sam who had to be rescued in the Iraq mission. Shows that he's just human.

Speaking of Coste, was he mentioned in earlier SC's? It's weird how he just turned up from nowhere.

@SeraphimSoldier: I've been playing it since friday and i still haven't completed it yet. If it was short i would have finished it long ago. Maybe i just suck at 3rd person shooters though tounge.gif

Is the game short like it some people claimed?

From what I've heard, anyone playing on the easier difficulties, beat it in 5 hours, people that play it on realistic are taking 7 to 10 hours.

As for Coste, I don't recall any mention of him in earlier games. I don't think it's that weird that he's not mentioned until this game. There's not much mention of Sam's personal life, or life before third echelon.

I'm on the middle one and I'm not going to do it in 10hrs I can guarantee that - I'm dying like a f*cking scientist!.

Stunning the amount of ways a sequence of takedowns can be done in. I really like the SP, still not tried MP yet (don't want to embarass myself)

I just discovered a glitch to unlock the Walther P99 Pistol.

I dont know if this is already known but I doubt it seeing as nobody told me.

Basically go to the extras and exclusive content, the MP7 should be there and unlocked, press down once, and click A for unlock, and it will say unlocking, either do this by pressing down once, then A or twice, then A or three times I am not sure I just did all of them, and then it should be in the section with the MP7A1.

Oh that's pretty awesome, i'm gonna try that next time i go on, thanks for sharing.

Also does anyone know how the hell you get the FAMAS, i watched the launch trailer again yesterday and i noticed that it shows the FAMAS.

Wow, I noticed that I had the P99, but didn't know I did anything glitchy, since the first thing I did when I loaded up the game was to DL the MP7 and the SC3K(that I got from the pre order. And it's not that great. Only two marks allowed is lame, especially for the gun that's a staple to this franchise).

You get that later on in the game anyway, i much prefer the M4 because it has 3 Marks on it, i haven't used the G36c yet though.

Yeah, I usually have the M4, or UMP.

So is there a way to downgrade upgraded weapons? I made the mistake of upgrading one of the pistols and now i just avoid using it completely.

On a different note, does anyone else find suppressed weapons hardly any use? I prefer the desert eagle, because i know if all hell breaks loose (and it will) i might as well use a powerful sidearm if i'm not able to get a headshot at first.

I just tried the glitrch Daz mentioned and have it pop up and saying unlocking after one down and then a, i did it a second time and i got a list of 4 extra things all saying Undefined with 2 of those saying i'd already unlocked them too, it's a bit weird.

I got the P99 though, so i can vouch for the glitch working too.

Thing is, it doesn't seem to work if you have other items in the list, like from "exclusives".

As, if you reach the bottom of the list, it just goes back to the top.

Yeah, Fission Mailed there man.

I didnt upgrade anything to have a Red dot, hicap mag (except MP7 and AK) or lazer sight.

I just bought them all and went to dash as soon as I got the achievement.

Really sucks too, as I want to put silencers on things but be able to take them off later.

Its a joke.
