Omnia sunt Communia
Awesome. I might have to purchase this game once I've saved up the money too. £66 per week is hard to find expendable money from.

General Goose
If he already has it on another console, it's unnecessary. Sure, the Orange Box may be better on PC, but for me, if you have one version you don't require another. The exception isTF2.
Omnia sunt Communia
I'm starting to get the feel of The Engineer. I like setting up little sentry nests where people can't get me and dominating the enemy. One example is on Dustbowl in the little office space overlooking the first control point on the second stage.
General Goose
Yeah, I often try finding good sentry spots, but they all have disadvantage. Some are open to a clever spy, some are open to circlestrafing pyros, some have blind spots where a Demo, Soldier, Pyro, Medic and such can wreak havoc, some are open to snipers, etc. You just gotta hope your enemy don't find those blind spots. In theory, the best sentry spot has: No close proximity to corners. No areas underneath or over it outside of its range. No long range areas in enemy territory, as snipers, soldiers and every other class cab easily destroy a sentry, particularly a lone one, at range. Anyway, next time I'm on Goldrush, I'm gonna try a few new sentry locations.
Omnia sunt Communia
As long as there's one entrance to a room, you can usually evade spies. Just keep an eye out and shoot anyone who comes in, friendly or not. If they're a spy they will be de-cloaked and your sentry will pounce on them. As for stopping people destroying your sentries at long-range, that's down to you really. Whip out your pistol or shotgun and start firing! General Goose
True. However, I find Snipers and Soldiers a big problem at long range. The Sniper obviously 0wns you, and the Soldier can do a lot of damage to both you and the sentry. In this case, it's best to hide behind the sentry, protecting against headshots, and tank. In terms of Spies, I'm always careful. I'm always careful with a Dispenser behind me. Clever spies can exploit that, and cause your death. They are a harassment mostly, but you always gotta watch your back. Demomen and Pyros really annoy me when I go engie. I usually try shotgunning the demo (unless I know he has significant backup), but with pyros and most other classes, it's best to hope a teammate helps. Enjoii
Yeah, I've been using the Engineer a bit and so far the biggest pain has been Pyros, I haven't really had any trouble from Spies.
General Goose
As long as the sentries are far away from corners or blind spots, pyros shouldn't be much of a problem for an upgraded sentry.
Democrab
With Sentries, it's best to have a long range that's still in range, means that any Pyro Ubers are knocked well out of the way and can't destroy it, it's up to you to be careful of the other classes though, I always make it so the Spy would have to go through the Sentry to get to me if I can, the ledge above the entry on one map I forgot the name of (Dustbowl I think) near the defending teams spawn is a great example, if you position it right, it takes a Soldier long ranging with an uber to get it down. True. But depending on the angle your head is, Snipers may own you. Given a choice, I would pick long range vulnerabilities though, but not too OTT. Werven
TF2 is like Sims, its on all consoles and fun on them, but really belongs on PC. I got a good game in last night, kept having Pyro duels with some bloke called Air, we ended up pretty equal too, now I'm trying to get better at Spy. You couldn't be more right after a whole year of the 360 version, and my recent (Yesterday, f*ck yes, Dell.) switch to PC, I can already see everythings better. Omnia sunt Communia
I just had one of the most annoying games of Dustbowl yet. Some iidiotic Medic from our team was healing a Spy from the OTHER team. Using the Ubercharge on him and everything. Ugh.
Mike Tequeli
The Bow and Arrow is overpowered, on the servers I go on, snipers are taking up Pyros jobs and hanging around corners headshotting anyone who runs past... They also are way too effective against pyros who need to run in close to attack, but that's a given. I have to disagree, the huntsmen always seemed useless to me. It's just like the sniper rifle except it's slow and hard to aim. It has advantages and I have seen people good at it, but most of the time when they try to fight me when I have a rifle, it doesn't work out for them. The Ambassador really is too powerful though, I have no way of fighting spies anymore, I just can't do it. I have no smg, I'm slower then they are and I get shot in the head frequently. There really is no awesome maneuver I can pull off to stop that.

Every weapon is balanced as much as possible as to not have a supergun and lame gun in your arsenal. Every item is situational, like how the spy has three different cloak watches. Each way is a different way to play the same class but each weapon has its advantages and obvious disadvantages.

dice
I don't see the 'weapon' razorback balanced at all. It's utterly useless. A spy backstabs you, gets zapped for like a second or less, you panic and try to kill him with your kukri, while he backs away and headshots you with the ambasador. I really hopped for a kukri replacement, like a boomerang or something. And about the huntsman, it fits in perfectly with Valves concept of snipers killing you from long ranges where you couldn't do anything about it. It's just the accuracy that bothers me along with the huge amount of luck factor. Because of the fast charge, you can just spam arrows into crowds and get easy kills. But I like Valves creativity about the ability of that friendly pyro can light your arrow on fire. The problem is just that the pyro which light the arrow still doesn't get the assist, even though the sniper killed the target

(Granted, as a pyro, I'd definitely run into one or two Snipers close range, but when you see them running up to a heavy + medic combo with you, you know someone's screwed the classes..) The Bow and Arrow is overpowered, on the servers I go on, snipers are taking up Pyros jobs and hanging around corners headshotting anyone who runs past... Still, I guess I can go back and forth.
Sixdust
I think the backburner is alot less useful than the regular flamethrower. I love the airblast. It deflects arrows, grenades and rockets back and it puts out my teams who are on fire. I can also juggle ubers, pin flaming enemies against the wall to axtinguisher them and sometimes do a high jump with good timing. Here is a guide, thats missing the ability to put out teammates and deflect arrows. It works with sentry rockets too. Enjoy.
ptiko
Nice videos sixdust Do you guys know of any good sites where I could buy/rent a server for TF2?
Tommy-Vercetti19
I'm looking to rent a server too. If i could find a free host it would be even better. Then i could set up a GTAF TF2 server. bean: I guess Multyplay may be good, Never had a look but they do rentals.
Sixdust
Here is a really useful video about hidden passages in most levels. I already know a lot of these from self discovery, but there a few I did not notice. Generally, any small ledge can become a new path. As a career spy, this comes in very handy, but as other classes I use it to bypass certain chokepoints on some maps. And now for some more videos. Enjoy. General Goose
The machinimas made me lol. I wanna try pl_donkey kong, and some of those jumping tricks may be useful. Thanks for the videos as always Sixdust. You are credit to team. Ubercharged.net is a really good TF2 website btw. They have some really funny articles (like Lunchbag Fu, the Heavy's answer to jarate) and some really informative guides. Here's a couple of vids: Edited June 14, 2009 by General Goose

General Goose
Poor Engie. BTW, regarding that new unlock system, has anyone noticed how millions of players are almost ALWAYS idling, and AFK/sleeping? It makes me lol.
Sixdust
Eh, in terms of idling, most servers have stopped because the system works two ways now. The old option of achievments to earn weapons has been back, so everyone just did those. Unless people are farming for hats?
