Ah, my bad. Yes, in CoD4 the PC version didn't have any prestige system, people had to stay or start over completely. I'm hoping that it's used in the PC version of MW2 though.

I hope it too... although I hate losing my progress on weapons it's still fun to do it all again (heck, they dumbed the game down alot so it's more fun just playing to unlock attachements and use them rather then doing that once and just staying at that 'rank'.

I have Cod4 on the PC. Imo it's better without prestige. Everyone is lvl 55 fast. And everything is fair at that point.

Prestige is just another way of making you're E-penor bigger and having people whine that the team's arn't fair because they all have prestige 10 on the other team or wtv.

I dunno. I dont prestige for my E-Ego. I just do it for something to keep working towards. If i was at Rank 55 for ever, i dunno i'd become bored of the same old same old & would probably find myself only playing some game modes.

No, I went all the way to 10th and it just adds more playability to the game, being able to unlock everything again etc. But I don't think that any advantage should be given to people who go into prestige.

This indeed... to be honest it tends to get boring and utterly repetetive if you reach level 55. Which, to me, wasn't the case in the 'old Call of Duty' titles.

The reason Civies are only allowed a certain Generation of NVG is too make it harder for the enemy, ie. Taliban etc etc too get a hold of the ADF's and the US' current generation. If they got a hold of that then they could see IR, Which if i remember correctly only Gen 3+ can.

 

NVG's are crap anyway, Without ambient light you are blind, and you lose all Depth perception.

@Prestige, I only did it because I kept playing the game after I hit 55, so I might aswell. If the prestige wasn't there I would still keep playing the game just as much. But it would be slightly less satisfying to not have something to work towards.

Yes, it magnifies the light. it can also be disorienting during a fire fight and soldiers tend to suffer from fatigue.

Gen 1,2,3 and 4 NVGs use the ambient light and magnifies it.

Gen 0 (like these ones) uses an infrared beam to light up the area, but the human eye can't naturally see infrared light. The goggles do pick them up though.

MW 2 I was reading, won't bear any Call of Duty connection, this is meant as a game that stands on it's own accord, and does tie into the first. They have high hopes and a clear direction with what they are putting into the game. What's most interesting perhaps is that on PS3, Uncharted 2 and this game will have a lot in common in some regards, Here we'll have a lot of snow and ice as well, stellar graphics, perhaps some of the best, and varied gameplay that will break from some of the expected.

 

One of the things mentioned is that there will be split screen for people to play in the SAME room with each other... if I read correct. They guess from the demo that there maybe some underwater missions as well as Rio and Russia presented as locales!. They think, perhaps the USA as well.

 

One thing you can expect is people you will need to clear may use pedestrians and regular citizens as shields and they will have to be sorted out without harming the populace.

@ Slamman, it's still keeping the CoD title. It is connected to the first MW, it's set a few years after. Aaaaaaand splitscreen play has been around since the dawn of FPS's.

It doesn't specifically mention the MW2 goggles afaik, Alf was saying that they will be 0 Gen and linking to the Wiki article to provide a view of what these 0 Gen goggles may be like.

The Prestige Edition is exclusive to HMV here in the UK and GameStop in Ireland, don't pay attention to the price listed for the UK in the article though, as it's wrong, it's still £119.99 on HMV's website, not sure about Ireland though.

When i was having a look around yesterday at reatailers listings for MW2 i never saw Prestige on other sites, so i had a slight hint HMV had bagged exclusivity, which sucks, i would have thought Play.com would have tried and taken it, oh well, i'm getting Hardened anyway.

Holy sh*t, that means they've met their pre order quota already!

 

As for HMV, they might not be as fast as other companies (they did have a faster delivery option, but I didn't use it, as I'll still be in Uni when this comes out anyway), but they definitely deliver things carefully, I'll give them that.

Look at the price!! £99!! and they look sh*t! So if you think about it, the extra £70 for the MW2 ones which look cool.. plus the extra guff... its not bad value.

Hm, yeah, it's available again now. It did say "Unavailable" on the initial page, then "this title is deleted" on the item page.

Don't think I've posted this yet, but it has been confirmed that there won't be any vehicles in the multiplayer.

Another thing spotted is somebody (presumably us, the player, or a bad guy) riding a sports bike, so there could be a bike chase in the campaign.

I'm going to address those quotes after my reply.... The reason you may feel I am off base is because you didn't read current GAMING PRESS on newstands currently. I was summizing what was in the article. Their Vice President was commenting, no less... and COD is not going to be directly attached to Modern Warfare.

I also felt that Split Screen and Multiplayer is oft only an online affair, I've not heard of it so much with the same people in one room, however, I am not a FPS person as stated prior, I didn't know how many games are FPS and multiplayer Split SCreen. I'd obviously followed PSP and GTA with regard to how multiplayer is incorporated.

I feel often just the new-ness and the interest congragating to online playing is what takes away from the other game functions and audience. Not everyone can do that.

 

If you settle for the single player game with Modern Warfare, they addressed that that will not lack and they have special interest in making the game work on that front as well as online in MP.

 

From ALL the pictures presented, this game DOES look photo-realistic, however, they claim that was never a goal, although they want realism factored in. They gave one example of which I forget, but the thing is the fun factor is stressed for the reasoning and many argue this with GTA in mind, so it is something of an issue, however, I feel AI and graphics wise, going for realism is what attracts me to the game.

 

I said before that to me, this game gives the consoles some serious ammo, it feels like the PC versions and even on the Xbox360.

That’s a great piece of news, no more tanks and players whoring them out for the whole match. I know they were in Treyarchs game but there may have been a demand or even temptation to put them in their game.
