Those so called night vision goggles are nothing more than a facy looking cereal box toy. Do yourselves a favor and buy the standard edition. If you need night vision goggles that badly use you remaing money to buy a real pair. Don't spend extra money on sh*t you don't need.

I tried pre-ordering the prestige pack the other day, but EB games don't even know if they're actually going to get it or not.

 

So there's about a 50/50 chance I'll get one before people realize they can get it when it comes out (if it does) and go and buy it before I do.

 

*Siiiggggggghhhhhhh* What I do for special edition games....

 

 

EDIT: I forgot to mention that they said they don't know if Australia will get it because it could be a US exclusive or something

It's been confirmed that it's not US exclusive, it's just that most other places haven't added it to their listings yet.

I doubt it. I don't use HMV Online, but if it's anything like Play.com, then no it won't. It should just stay in your 'Outstanding Orders' list until it's released/posted to you.

Yeah, I read somewhere that HMV only had a limited amount, but I haven't actually seen any confirmation to back this up. Personally I'm going to wait until Play.com have it up, I've pre-ordered a few games from them and nealry all of them have come at least 1 day early, and several mates have had the same happen.

I'm still on the fence as to what edition to get, i'm not sure if i wanna get the Prestige because i'll have no where to put the freakin head on goggles but, if i get the Hardened i'll have room to put it and it has better box artwork (yes, i'm that picky). Then there is the price difference, i'm not even sure i'll have £120 by the time the game comes out.

 

EDIT: i just checked on Play.com and they only have a listing for the standard edition and hardened edition of MW2, no Prestige, i checked Amazon.co.uk and GAME.co.uk as well and they don't seem to have updated their listings, could HMV be the only stockist with the Prestige Edition in the UK?

Do you mean better box art than the Prestige edition? Because it comes with the same box art as the Hardened edition.

Are these night-vision goggle as functional as the ones in gun shops? I'm highly sceptical as to how well these will work, considering they come with a game and they only make up £80 of the cost, will they actually be useful in real life for hunting at night? I've seen and used bad night-vision goggles for over a £100 so that's why i'm unsure how nice these will be for £80 (£80/£120).

I know it does, but i'm generally on about the price of it and the big gret head and NVGs that come with it, though a nice bonus, i don't have a clue where the hell i'm gonna put them.

Apparently the range for the NVGs is roughly 50 feet in 'absolute darkness'. The devs from IW said that they tested them out in their offices and they worked well, but I wouldn't expect anything amazing from them.

They also have two different vision options; black & white or NVG green.

 

Apparently the only UK store that's going to be selling it is HMV. I really hope not.

Yeah i see what you mean, it costs more than £200 just for a decent monocular night-vision device. These will be nothing more than a fragile toy for children. What confused me was the bullsh*t official description of them, which made them sound useful for rape hunting.

I've just checked out the HMV link again and it's not even 50m visibility, it's 50ft. which is a mere 15.24m.

You'd be lucky to use them in the garden with that range.

 

Although i suppose if you made it to a house first, they'd be a useful rape tool.

On the HMV site they only show the different editions for PS3 and Xbox360. They don't show anything for the PC (except the 'normal game'... no Hardened nor Prestige).

 

They could also do the MW1 trick all over again. No prestige for PC... and that could be a reason not to bring out a PC Prestige Edition.

I doubt that would be the reason. 'Prestige' is just a special name that they chose for it, it doesn't actually have any relation to the prestige feature seen in the console versions.

They could just be holding back while changing some of the swag for it. There's no single online service that they could allow PC users to download the first CoD from like they're doing for the consoles, so maybe they're just taking time to get an alternative set up for that.
