The Doomsday Heist stuff in GTAO sort of makes sense after reading that. Very "Agent" -like content.

Interesting. I don't understand how they were aiming for historical accuracy if they were inspired by Bond movies, like the mention of a car turning into a submarine. With that sc-fi stuff in a 70s setting, it'd not feel right and I'd not like it.

Hmmm nice bike

It makes sense now why GTA V has so much secret agent crap in it. I always theorized that they were probably missions from Agent that were repurposed into GTA, and now we know for sure that this was probably the case.

 

Kind of stupid how the Housers were just expecting people to know all about some show from the 70s that most Americans have probably never seen or heard of. They clearly needed to provide more examples of what they wanted or just go with something more familiar (like James Bond) to explain their idea. That'd be like going to a game studio Japan and asking them to make a game based on "Mannix" and expecting them to just know what you're talking about.

 

It sounds like they couldn't even settle on exactly how they wanted the story to go either I'm glad we at least got RDR out of it though. If it wasn't for the work they did on Agent, they would have had much of a base to work on with RDR.

Nah, the engine was already pretty much laid out with Table Tennis and previous Angel Studios games. Agent helped them develop RDR because it was their current development and it allowed them to integrate things into RDR, but they would have done it anyway I feel. What it explains is the reason why RDR's version of RAGE is so different from anything else, it's just a bizarre morph of some stuff RAGE has currently and old Angel Studios stuff. GTA IV released before RDR but its RAGE version has the same structure as the ones we know, used in Max Payne 3, GTA V, etc.

Unfortunately I can't find the post anymore, but someone in NeoGAF a few years ago who apparently was an old R* dev mentioned GTA SA was gonna have a military expansion to it but it was totally cut. Don't quote me on it of course, but it's not that unbelievable.

I mean the DYOM mod was made off the coding for mission packs that rockstar thought they were gonna use but never did iirc so that isn’t too far out of a theory.

 

i just don’t think Agent had anything to do with San Andreas. Wouldn’t Agent have been in the barely preplanning stages, if not just an idea in someone’s head, by the time San Andreas was being worked on?

I think this game has been kept quiet because the agent in charge of keeping quiet of anything about Agent went "missing" during the cold war between the Housers and Benzie

Sorry that I’m rather late to the party but I am very happy that Agent isn’t coming out! I mean, R* already has a crime game series called GTA. I honestly don’t like it when espionage-focused and organized crime-focused stuff is made by the same people. I just say, pick one or the other.

I'm sorry but that's kinda dumb. Variety is good. If they made the same kinda games over and over it'd get old fast.

 

That's why games like Max Payne, LA Noire, and Bully stand out.

Did your eyes latch onto this, @Rocketeer? When ever, if ever this project rises to compete, it could be a potential GOAT. Such a creation will probably stretch from 10-12 years of the hammer and chisel, 2029-2031, before it’s a pro at its game.

 

Nonetheless... we will have the Sixth Blue Orb to consume all of that time, but curiosity ought to keep this sector in mind.
