Agent (cancelled)

They survived the disaster of the DE trilogy because 1) it wasn't a new mainline game and 2) it sold over 20 million copies.

 

It's not a rep thing, as Zapper says, a linear Agent (or any smaller game) would still be a costly venture, and as it'd be linear and not the usual modern R* release, so it'd be more risky. The question then, at the top of R*, is would it be worth making Agent or throwing those people on the next big open world R* game that'll sell 50million+ copies in it's lifetime?

 

I'd love for them to make something like Agent, so I'm all for it personally, but yea, with the way the industry is I don't see it. The big budget AAA industry is in the situation it is because bigger AAA games sell more than smaller AAA games, and thus are seen as less risky, so the solution isn't then to split up teams and make less big games and more smaller games cause as far as we've seen that doesn't always work. I think if R*, or any studio making these huge AAA games, wanted to make smaller experiences they'd need to expand and build new teams to give them the bandwidth to do so.

I think Build A Rocket Boy’s (Leslie Benzies’ new studios) new game MindsEye may actually be a near future spiritual successor to Agent and also I found this poster in GTA V which might actually be concept art for Agent’s Moon base level

Jane Arthur and John Bison, Rockstar literally gave us the names of RDR2's protagonists since 2013 in this poster lol.

Here is a sizzle reel/music video that was made for the development of AGENT. I hadn't seen this posted on GTA Forums, but I'm guessing it isn't new to a lot of you? I'm making an assumption that this sort of thing is created to convey the tone and general aesthetic of the game, early doors, when there isn't much in game.

IIRC on one of the websites on gta v (idk which one) there is a pic of a space ship’s interior and there was a space travel website in tbogt too

GTA V PS3 July 23 common archive that was recently leaked, there's also a few car recordings for Alpine and Desert level

"alp4_truck2" which involves cs2000, casco, gant and seinove

"alp7_chase" which involves casco, seinove, snowtrack and cs2000

"des5_escape" which involves z75, hauler, ranger, enduro and scamp

 

There's also "commented out until outposts are verified/back in" warps for Desert Outposts

Cool, I am in believe that the Cayo Perico heist really is a demo for Agent as it shares a lot of similarities like the mgsv-like gameplay, the bond references, the underwater pois and also a lot of weapons in gta online feel like they are from or based on Agent like the Batlle rifle (l1a1) Mini SMG (scorpion) and a few others, maybe the next update will be fully spy themed kinda like what was hinted with cliffford being captured by the IAA and the abductions along with the shirt given with the code
