It's hard to think when this game was announced the PS3 was still in its infancy. It would be funny though if it ever sees the light of day if it became a yearly franchise.

Hard to say, exactly because they change their plans all the time. We could either see something completely new, Bully 2 or Agent next, but to me, it's more likely we'll see something about GTA VI after RDR2.

I genuinely don't believe agent actually exists any more. Sure there might be some concepts knocking around but I think it's either A) Rockstar keeping their options open or B) rockstar trolling us.

 

Even if they do release agent, it's been so long, I don't think it's live up to itself

Yeah, they've fallen behind schedule on current gen consoles and if they want a GTA to sell the best it can then they'll most likely release it at the end of a cycle. I'd be happy if that's the case.

That's the thing. I can't see them not releasing a new GTA for 10 years or something. P.S: There's also this. The guy behind this article surely knows some people close or inside Rockstar. He said that the RDR2 trailer would release on Thursday because he "heard" it from others and it was true. Makes me think they might've given up on releasing a non-GTA after RDR2 because of how much they've fallen back on their original plans. Also, yes, definitely, Agent mostly consists of last gen assets, so it would have to be remastered. In game development, not always you tailor your assets to the generation you're making them for, scaling them down later, but Agent was way too early for this to have happened, so I will have to agree, Jason.

Interesting. I understand that they basically abandoned the previous trademark and recently filed for a new trademark with that specific design and it has just recently been published (7th March 2017). I don't remember T2 having that specific logo design of 'Agent' registered before, so this could be a new development and a sign that the game has probably been put on the side for later. Unless it's just T2 routinely preserving their trademarks, there's no reason they would keep the logo in any way, shape, or form. The fact that the game has been announced and they didn't comment on it all this time is just bizarre.

According to the entries in the trademark's history, Agent's trademark been presented for opposition, in case any bodies out there oppose publishing the product. This happens a while before official publication, (for GTA V, it was about a whole year before the X360/PS3 GTAV release) so Agent may seem closer than we think it is. From how well I know R*, if they are HAPPY with it, and are planning to finally market it after red dead 2, I'd say we can expect to see Agent sometime next Christmas...

Sudden statement by a person who was recentley thought that Agent is dead, i'd say. It's just a speculation, but i personally

think that we will get Agent in 2019-2020, a year after RDR 2 and a year before GTA 6 which is more likely wiil come out in 2020-2021.

Any game should be released at least one year after announcement, so announcement in 2018 (in a year before) or even in late 2017 (two years before)

is quite possible. And i think the fact that trademark is alive in 2017 is quite enough evidence that game isn't canceled. And it won't be

put on shelf for a later time. 10 years by themselves is long enough period.

Pretty sure we're not seeing Agent ever, tbh. They will keep doing their *automatic* (yes, automatic) trademark thing every 6 months because they might want to keep the brand, just in case, R* has thye resources to keep it, but not sure if we're going to see it.

I guess it's the case. The legal arm of T2 probably has a list of publicly acknowledged trademarks of the company's current titles and they just routinely file for an extension. What got me wondering is why they cared to abandon the old trademark and filed for a totally new design using the title's current logo design. T2 can take down the game's website and most likely nothing will impact their business or stock price despite this action making headlines here and there, just for a while. An investor with OCD might pass a question about it during a conference call, but other investors will be like 'meh'. They will be happier to see GTA VI and the second generation of the money-printing machine that's GTA Online.
