It's a false win. In the Low Rider Challenge, as you can only Win 1,000$. The other 1,000$ is already your money. You just had to Post it for holding. If you had lost (which takes some doing) you would have lost only the 1,000$.

Regardless, you 'officially' win $2,000. Most gambling organisations, such as sports betting agencies and casinos, will announce that you'd win the money you spent on the bet PLUS the extra money you'd actually make. So, although in the end you'd actually make $1,000, then the winning amount is the amount of money you had after you made the bet, subtracted from the money you have when you've collected your winnings.

 

So, in case you were claiming he's wrong, then AH64Hunter's most likely correct. Although, for the sake of competition, I'll guess the pool competition at the Ten Green Bottles in Ganton.
