Knife Posted April 21, 2010 Share Posted April 21, 2010 Well it's super cheap so I bought it. It's nothing too special though, about 10 mins of fun then it's just another vehicle in the game. Panau City is really f*cking hard man, I prefer the small communication outposts I completed this game last night. Bit disappointed to be honest. Andyzoot Posted April 23, 2010 Share Posted April 23, 2010 I'll tell you why I don't like this game. I've had it since the first week of it's release and I find it painfully repetitive. EVERY Faction mission you get involves either blowing something up, stealing something or stealing data from a PC oh and just for fun they might throw in a time limit every now and again. Also the faction missions all had the same f*cking cutscene preceding it. Each cutscene involved the faction leader rolling up to Rico, guy drops the case onto the floor, faction leader spouts some bullsh*t then drives off. The only thing that differs between the cutscenes is the dialogue and they made it so you can't see the face of the faction leader so they wouldn't have to bother with lip syncing for each individual mission. The only missions that are fun are the Agency Missions because they throw in some cool set pieces into the action but there's only about 5 of them then there's the sabotage missions which are all the f*cking same but they SLIGHTLY increase in difficulty and you have to listen to that terrible f*cking voice actor say "I'm technician, so you Scorpio, must get me inside!" Speaking of the voice acting. It's all sh*te and the dialogue is just a competition between Rico and whoever to come up with the best pun or metaphor, I half expected Horatio Caine to pop up at some point. The map was waaaay too big. When I discovered how big the map was I thought it was amazing but as I played through the game I realised that getting across the island is a chore. Cars and bikes are useless, aeroplanes and choppers are handy...if you can get to an airport. I found most of my travelling was done with the parachute and grapple hook so thank f*ck for that. What I did like about the game? The graphics were very very nice. The jungle looked lush and the snow capped mountains looked fantastic. Blowing sh*t up and being a general nuisance is fun at first but come on, there's only so many times you can hijack a plane in mid air and find it fun. Plus the grappling hook just loves coming apart when you don't want it to. It's a dire game, the first few days I was loving it but as it went on I realised how repetitive and slap dash it is. Well in the full game you can be extracted to any location you have visited so you don't have to travel across the map a whole ton. @Panda - I think everything you say is a valid criticism of the game, but I've got 30hrs of play time and I'm still having fun in it. To each his own. I can see how some people can absolutely love this game. Believe it or not I spent hours on the Minority Report game back in the day But I wish I waited for this game to go half price before I bought it. It's a real disappointment. You're probably playing it on a console. You can mod the sh*t out of this game on PC. I'm 62h into the game, 77% completed and I still love it. Normally I'm more into the story with sandbox games, but I didn't feel very intrigued by the story of Just Cause 2. It wasn't a bad story for the length, but it should've been stretched out more. I know it wasn't a story driven game like GTA IV, or whatever, but a few more agency missions wouldn't have hurt. It just felt too brief, without enough character development. There wasn't even a plot twist which was quite disappointing. Although probably not the most original idea, but it would've been bad ass if Tom stabbed you in the back, and you found out he was working with Baby Panay, and coming to Panau was a trap.
