junkpile
i know there is a maisonette 9 thread, but besides a possible location of both clubs i have got a mission theory: when you do hossan's random character mission you go to a place in lower algonquin. (it's where you start the southern algonquin race and also the mission "blood brothers"). on this road, while hossan tries to get his money,a car rushes by , being chased by the cops, every time. why did they put it in? it has absolutely nothing to do with this mission. so my theory: this might be a mission or intro or cutscene in the ballad of gay tony, maybe luis is the one driving the car. something like niko walking around in TLAD. also: since this happens in lower algonquin and right on this road are certain buildings (f.e. one that has some red doors/walls) that could be hercules and maisonette 9. from there you have a nice view on happiness island, there's the golden pier close by (with even some buildings that could be one of them clubs) and the car is coming from this direction (a huge parking lot close to the pier). have a look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OM7HbBrZd8
El Zilcho
2OM7HbBrZd8 Copy the number and letter code after the v= sign in the URL, then you can embed the video like so. Interesting idea, I'll have to watch out for it if I do a mission in BOGT in that area. U R B A N I T A S
junkpile
^thanks. besides, it's also the place where you start chasing luca and his crew. (even though i can't think of him visiting gay tony, since luca possesses them diamonds right then and would most likely get killed by him/luis)
dabaannz
great observation junkpile. But why would you start a new thread for this?... there is already a mission thread and a location thread.
Slamman
I'm not up to speed on the club speculations, but the cut scenes are bound to have dynamic events like the cop chase, I feel it's one way to prevent the AI from lacking in background. Recall when GTA3 showed you what happens when you get busted or hospitalized? You are unable to move, but see several cam angle cut scenes, these are similar in that anything ON the street when you activate them is still in the scene, but the pre-programmed events run on the same location, and they intermingle. This is one of the very cool aspects of GTA, but it is old

But why would you start a new thread for this?... there is already a mission thread and a location thread. ok, didn't want to spam. i think there are even more uneccesary threads about the same topic (f.e. homophobia). whatever: another hint for one of the closed clubs: there is a building with red doors and signs saying lease available, it's also at this road. Slamman
When I first got the game, I ran up to most every dang door in Liberty City. Remember the celler enterances in the street? Several go below street level and you find a locked door. Not one of them opens anywhere, but man, was I bummed. What a cool idea that didn't happen there. I'm hoping they can create some spaces that are hidden in the normal game.
junkpile
i really hope one of them clubs happens to be down there since this is a beautiful location with a great view. it's full of potential, they could open some buildings at the golden pier, too. this lower algonquin area, especially castle gardens is very nicely done but nothing much happens there in niko's storyline. buffalosoulj4h20
I have a feeling that it does have something to do with BoGT. That scene always got me wondering about why that happened. I think in that mission Luis has to drive that same exact car with someone in it or that's one of Luis's friends driving and Luis is in the passenger seat. It would be cool if we were doing that mission and we see hossan going up to that guy. Edited May 31, 2009 by buffalosoulj4h20

You are unable to move, but see several cam angle cut scenes, these are similar in that anything ON the street when you activate them is still in the scene, but the pre-programmed events run on the same location, and they intermingle. the main reason i wondered why this police chase has been put in there is that gta 4 does not contain random police car chases like in san andreas. there are a couple of programmed appearances by the cops, but they got all put in for a reason. (like in the missions "union drive" and "buoys ahoy")
visionist
I like this. Also isn't that a Buffalo that's getting chased? Maybe the civilian version is availible in bogt. There are adverts around the city for it....
Astrixone
I got even more reasons why it can be in lower algonquin. Gracie's family live there so gay tony must be near them. That way luis could spy after Ray employers and know exactly how to get the diamonds.

I dont think its a buffalo, but if you pause it, the car is flying It might be just one of those background things to give a realistic fealing Or maybe rockstar trying to trick you into that so when you play it you go OH! SuFoS
I think, that Luis is sitting in the car. Like in TLAD he are going to see Niko in the intro from BoGT. I can imagine that Luis is being chased by the police because he done some drug deals for his crew. After the cop chase Luis drive to the Hercules or the Maisonette 9 to meet Gay Tony. Nice Forum by the way

SuFoS
You hit the nail on the head. But in TLAD the did the same thing. (where you see niko in alderney in the intro) Maybe they do it in BoGT too.

BikerAndy
Something just occured to me - in vanilla IV does the lost clubhouse have the cross hatched parking area or is it only in the actual dlc? If it's already there then surely the clubs will have some sort of parking area already marked off if we're going to be able to save there... I'd check myself but I'm stuck at work. JOSEPH X
That building looks like a hotel or apartment block. It could be where GT lives, or Evan Moss. You also meet Francis McReary there before "Blood Brothers", so he could live there too. Another fact is that Hossan won`t appear until you`ve opened the Francis McReary Missions, he`s a cop, and there`s a cop chase in the cutscene. Also, somebody`s blackmailing Francis (who, AFAIK has no wife and kids, which wouldn`t matter anyway, but I digress) who needs to be rubbed out. Why? We never find out. Don`t know why I`m saying this, it gets more and more implausable
The Notorious MOB
QUOTE (HansHartz @ Feb 20 2009, 21:30) This Maisonette 9 thing makes me mad - I've got to find it. OK, top notch club in New York City. I took a look at Quype and found this: Bungalow 8 See here - this is the entrance of Bungalow 8 See Map - here is Bungalow 8 Also: Bungalow & Maisonette are house types. A Maisonette is a 2 story appartment, while a Bungalow is a 1 story house without basement. So, what are we looking for: - 2 Story House? - Unremarkable door with neon on the left? - West side Algonquin slightly south of the booth tunnel? I'll report in if I find something. Maybe some of you search with me. PS. I don't want to look for Hercules (the gay club) - I don't know what my GF thinks when I look for gay clubs in manhattan ... Apologies for reviving old posts but I have some thoughts on the Locations of the two clubs (Maisonette 9 and Hercules). I agree that Maisonette 9 is a rip off of Bungalow 8. There's a white building near the intersection of Westminster and Purgatory sorry I don't know what the street is called but it's around the corner from a police station. It looks alot like the Front of Bungalow 8 and it's in the right kind of area. Plus there is a lot of gay guys and upper class people that hang around outside it. I also did the dirty work of searching for New York Gay Bars and I came across one called Phoenix. I think this may be where hercules comes from (phoenix is a mythical creature, hercules is a mythalogical person also plus he's a stong man which would go with the gay theme). I then start thinking about where it could be and since phoenix is in east village (Fishmarket North/Presidents City) I started looking there but except for a bit of rainbow bunting, nothing really caught my eye. I was then cruising around when I got to The Meat quarter the Liberty City equivelent of the Meat Packing District... Sounds pretty gay huh? I thought so too. Thats when I found a place on the corner of Glaveston Avenue at the edge of the Meat Quarter. It looks like it used to be somewhere important but it's gone delapidated and it definitely looks like it could have been a club. Also the peds outside seem to talk... a little less manly than others. So I think this could possibly be our Hercules. Another thing I found that's not related to the clubs but could relate to the 2nd DLC: I was cruising around the Northwood/Holland area when I came accross a building with puerto rican flags hanging out of the windows in East Holland (Bismark). So I got out of my car and walked upto the door and it was closed... Then I tried the next door beside it to the right and it was open. So I went inside and went upto the top floor only to find the same graffiti that was on the wall in Niko's first safehouse on the wall of this building. I'm thinking that this is a bit suspicious as if it's a clue or something and even though the building is in East Holland and not Northwood and the building nextdoor had a Puerto Rican flag outside that this could be Luis's House or if not his then one of his associates. Also outside one of the doors on the first or second floor there was a newspaper saying "_ we miss you" in black marker on the front of it. This could also mean nothing but then again it could be another clue. The above is a post by me (which quotes some other guy) from the Second Episode topic. I just thought I'd post it so people can see my ideas. Here is a snapmap showing the locations I talked about. Oh and apologies for the links in the first quote box not working but there not my links so I can't fix them. If anybody wants to see pictures of Bungalow 8... Go here and click "View Slideshow". Also go here to see The Phoenix (the gay bar)... if you want to. Edited June 1, 2009 by Money Over Bullshit
