CharmingCharlie
Ah don't worry too much about StoOopiD he is erm "special" the best thing to do when he goes into one of his anti-MS rants is to just ignore them. As for how the DLC will be released on the PC/PS3. Well firstly anyone expecting the EFLC disc to come out at the beginning of 2010 is going to be very disappointed. I personally believe that MS has 1 year exclusivity for each episode (so 1 year for TlaD and 1 year for TBoGT). So if you are expecting to play TBoGT any time soon then get that out of your head it will be at least a year before that appears on the PC/PS3. I personally don't believe there will be much of a build up to the release of the DLC on the PC/PS3. I think it will be as simple as an announcement at the start of the month and then a release at the end of the same month. Now we all know that TLaD appeared on the 360 in February 2009. So I would expect to hear about the PS3 version around that time in 2010. The PC version is still very much up in the air. It is possible that Microsoft may let the PC version out earlier as a last ditch attempt to piss PS3 gamers off a bit. After all how pissed off would you feel if you are a GTA fan and your system is the only one not getting the DLC. So it is still feasible a PC version of TLaD may come out before the end of this year. If MS doesn't feel that charitable towards the PC and lets face it their track record isn't that great. Then we can expect a simultaneous release of the DLC on the PS3/PC at the beginning of 2010 (this is just for TLaD I should add). As for how it will be announced........ lets just say when it is announced you will have to be in your grave not to hear about it. I mean the screaming and bitching from the xbox fanboys will be heard from f*cking space. However most likely it will be announced either in T2's financial statements or via Rockstars Newswire. OutOfTimer
I'd like to post a quote from some other forum. It sums up the whole situation quite well. If a company is going to release expansions it should be for every format the original game is on - Microsoft are just using their unethical, money grabbing, monopolising tactics in an attempt to kill their competition the same way they did in the computer world and that landed them in the high court. I love how Xbox360 fanboys seem to be so onboard with this business practice, like it's perfectly acceptable as long as it's for their benefit. I can't stop myself from quoting CharmingCharlie now 'cause this is the best post I've read in weeks... Let's just say when it is announced you will have to be in your grave not to hear about it. CharmingCharlie
@CC do you think it will be a R* newswire announcement (those e-mails take 3-4 days to reach me). Well I wouldn't rely on the rockstar emails for your news. I normally just pop to the Rockstar website each morning :- http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/ Just don't read the comments they are full of the most retarded f*ckwits on the planet (seriously I am not kidding you). Alternatively this forum does have a companion website here :- http://www.gta4.net/news/index.php You can bet your life the minute the news hits the net it will be on there. Finally the other place to keep your eye out is :- http://www.euthanasia.com/ Expect to see them inundated with bookings by rabid Xbox fanboys when the DLC is announced for the PS3. CharmingCharlie
Well at the moment it's Microsoft that has control of the content. So as I have said before it is entirely feasible they could allow the DLC on the PC first just to annoy PS3 owners that little bit more (before they lose control of the content). However going by MS's track record they don't seem to be too keen to encourage PC gaming so a more likely scenario is to have the PC and PS3 DLC released together. I don't think we will see the PS3 get it first then a year later the PC users get it though.
evilrex
Rockstar said in an interview that they're finishing with Liberty City (and GTA IV) after BoGT (and that counts for porting to the PC version of the game aswell). So there's no more DLC, not for the PC, not for the 360 and not for the PS3. Edited October 25, 2009 by evilrex
CharmingCharlie
I believe they said no more NEW DLC, they did not say "that includes porting the DLC" they just said TBoGT is the last DLC episode. This is another myth like the myth "Microsoft GAVE Rockstar 50 million". There is no evidence whatsoever that Microsoft GAVE Rockstar 50 million. However people state it as fact they did. The European commission is dead wrong in their crusade against Microsoft. Ludricous to require Microsoft to include a ballot screen in Windows, just because the complaintant (Opera) is unable to compete on their own merits (crappy browser and all). Microsoft however does seem to have learned their lesson, and to the suprise of many, they will comply with the EC's ludricous demand. Before we know it, we have ballot screens for other windows features such as media player, defender. Meanwhile other companies (like Apple and Google) are not being treated in the same manner. In this case, Microsoft cannot be held responsible. If you want to whinge, whinge at Rockstar. They went into a business deal with Microsoft to deliver an Xbox exclusive. JohnZS
Not meaning to add too much fuel to the fire, but the frustrating thing is that "The Lost and the Damned" and "The Ballad of Gay Tony" are already on a PC (Development PC.) as IMHO all of the official screen shots on Rockstar's news site Charlie posted above look waaay too smooth and crisp for the X-Box The exclusivity thing is pointless. SpecialAnimal
I imagine it will come soon enough. I like to look at AC/DC's "Black Ice" as an example. It's been out since June 6th and it was a Wal-Mart exclusive CD and as of Monday, Best Buy has started to carry it. I think we all see how the Best Buy/Walmart and Sony/Microsoft things relate. If you are referring to patches then obviously yes Rockstar are reluctant to produce any more free patches for GTA 4. If you are referring to the DLC then there is every reason to believe the PC will see the DLC sooner or later because it is something Rockstar can make money from and we all know how much Rockstar likes good ole Benjy. (I think we already talked about it but it seems I forgot.) After careful consideration, I indeed have to agree that it is R*'s fault. When it comes to the ballot screen, I think it's a ridiculous idea as well. It's true that Microsoft is treated exceptionally bad by the European Commission but the situation is not that aweful after all. I follow the latest news about the European Commission and there's an ongoing investigation against Intel as we speak. In addition, one of the Commissioners threatenend Apple recently for their IP/national segregation in the iTunes Store. As far as I know, they cooperate and already held a meeting about it.
