supermortalhuman
Is anyone's Niko SLOWER now? Like, I swear, it feels like I'm controlling Johnny in a Niko costume - PLEASE tell me I am only imagining things and that they didn't change the vanilla game in order to turn it into TLaD? like the bike shadows... they turned those on, and it was global for the cars too - the latest patch didn't make my Niko slower did it? I'm just imagining sh*t, right? Mmm, really? I dunno about Niko, but the motorbikes feel slightly different though, who knows, maybe you're way to anxious expecting the contents release...like me, haha It's coming, I got that feeling. YES! He doesn't fall off nearly as easily! Dude, I think they slowed niko down Because yea, the bikes seem better and he doesn't fall off - unless I just got better, but no, they sucked before. YoungGun
So is this gonna be a free download "Addon" for GTA IV PC.. or is it something we are gonna have to buy? If so, how much could it be?

Jimbatron
I think we will be getting it a tad bit sooner than "next year" I would guesstimate an announcement may come as early as this week with the DLC released a few weeks later, but we will have to wait and see what happens. Do you really think R* is working on a PC version of The Lost and Damned for the PC right behind Microsoft's back?Pretty wild guess if you ask me. Now I know what your thinking:"WELL NOBODY ASKED YOU!". Erm, maybe you haven't been following events, but the last patch added TLAD achievements into GFWL for the PC. That's not the sort of thing that happens by accident - or can you think of another plausible explanation as to why they would be added? I don't think this is being done behind Microsoft's back - the deal is most likely a timed exclusive that is due to expire any time now. If R* were up to something shifty, it wouldn't be very smart to drop hints about it through Mircosoft's own GFWL would it? Indeed, if it was a permanent exclusivity deal I would have expected Microsoft to have issued a press statement to set the record straight by now. My guess is the first we'll know that an official annoucement is pending, if only by a few hours in advance maybe, is when the wording changes here: http://www.rockstargames.com/games#/game:26/ It still bills TLAD as a 360 exclusive, so if they do it by the book they will have to alter this before declaring it will become available for the PC. vaudevillian
JohnPhoenix: LOL I don't know where you live, but certainly it's not in the real world. Companies are not affected by piracy? Each time you download a game and you don't pay for it, you're removing profit from the company that produced the game. It is as simple as that. The more people download the game, less profit they will get. I know cases of companies who made a single good game, but due to piracy, the profit of the game wasn't enough and they simple went bankrupt. Nice, isn't it? You would probably change your mind if you were yourself a single producer. Imagine that you create an app for IPhone, and it's a good, useful app. For each one that you sell, you get, imagine, 2€ of profit. If 100 people buy your app, you get 200€ of profit. Now imagine that instead of 100, only 50 people buy the product, and the others just download it without paying. Your profit will be only 100€. Now imagine this on a large scale: a big team of people working for years, all the salaries to be paid in time, the cost of hardware, etc, etc. Just see GTA IV's situation... Rockstar North spent a lot of money to make this game possible and the team worked for more than 4 years. They were heavily depending on the success of this game to cover all these costs. They made a great game, people bought it, all is good. Imagine if people had downloaded the game instead of paying? Where would they get the money they spent? Another example is STALKER. The producers stated that the profit of the first game was the only thing that made possible the following Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat. If lots of people had pirated the game, their profit would be much lower, and I'm sure they wouldn't have enough money to continue producing new games. I also know some more companies that were closed due to lack of profit, because even though their games were good, they didn't sell enough. It's true that piracy sometimes creates publicity around a certain product that was unknown for most people, and yes, there are companies who benefit from this. And tbh, piracy is the only way to tell the companies that they're not doing a good job. For example, look at what Activision is doing to Modern Warfare 2: they have cut the Special Edition of the PC version, they want to sell the game at the same price of a console game (60/70€, contrary to 50€) and they also removed the PC dedicated servers for the multiplayer. They're clearly hurting the PC version of this game, and Call of Duty is one of the games that always sells good on the PC (in fact I think it even sells better on the PC than on the consoles). What can we do to show them they're not doing any good? Don't buy the game, just download it and they will see the results. Is it legal? No. It has any effect? Yes. It's the only way to show our frustration? Yes. I would love to see TLAD and TBOGT on the PC, but one thing that certainly is making it exclusive for now, is piracy. PS: Music industry is also affected by this, don't think it isn't. As it is Cinema. Well I guess you dont live in the real world either. Piracy has help me out more then I can hoped for, saved me huge on advertising. I think the amount of advertising piracy have saved me is probably in the 10s of thousands. I make website templates for CMS's. At first with a tiny advertising budget, I sold next to nothing. For protection I placed a hidden phrase in my templates so I personally can track them. Months go by and my my work shows up on websites that did not pay for them. I did not issue take downs or anything since I cant afford a lawyer. Then all of a sudden I start making way more sales, almost 10 times the sales I was getting in the first place. I then offered the ones that got pirated for free. The people who pirated my stuff were never gonna pay for it, but the did land me more money. Edit: I think what happens when these companies get so big, is their head gets too big and they develop this entitlement complex. Just like the RIAA and the MPAA pushing the ACTA. They think their entitled to more rights then the public. In the real world some one does not constantly get paid for something they did. They get payed one time. Its called working for a living. If the template I made took 40 hours and my time is worth $25/hour to me. That template for a one time payment of work would be $1000 dollars. If I make that and plus some extra I am happy. Murcchachosa
Is it the R* North wich release the DLC or Toronto? I hope if it will be released, optimized by North since Toronto f*cks up the game. I lost faith in them We want the DLC completely debugged. Nope I can tell you I don't think Rockstar Toronto are working on the DLC right now. I can tell you they had the first PC DLC finished months ago. This DLC has been sitting on their servers for 6 months waiting for Microsoft to agree to them releasing it on the PC Nothing is being done behind MS's back here, remember the update was released on the GFWL network and before the patch is released it will have had to been certified by Microsoft. So you can bet your life they knew the adding of the achievements will have leaked out. The fact that they added achievements and the new command line pretty much indicates the DLC is ready and waiting for release there is no other reason why they would add the achievements now. I get the impression people think the DLC will be released in the same way it happened on the 360. That isn't the case there will not be months of waiting after the initial announcement. It will either go one of two ways :- TLAD announced some time this month and then released the same day (very slim chance of this happening). TLAD announced before the end of this month with a trailer and then released the middle of December. Either way I am absolutely certain PC gamers will be playing The Lost and Damned before Christmas. Then probably this time next year we will be playing TBoGT. Now I know what your thinking:"WELL NOBODY ASKED YOU!". Tut you make me sound like a tin pot dictator you should always be free to air your views on the board. We all have different views and opinions after all and this is the place to debate them. Jimbo_V
Yeah, I'd buy the EFLC Version more than the DLC's. Because you have them both on one disc. CharmingCharlie
Good point charlie. I'd say way 2. But I disagree at TBOGT. I think they will release it at LAST in summer 2010. But I think TLAD around Christmas (I'll get it the day it comes out ) and then TBOGt around March/April. You have to remember that whilst MS will lose control of the DLC there will be stipulations in place governing when Rockstar can release the next DLC. It isn't too much of a stretch to conclude that MS will expect the PC and PS3 to suffer the same "wait" that 360 users had to go through between TLaD and TBoGT. Now there was a 10 month wait on the 360 between the DLC's and I can see Microsoft at least stipulating that other systems have a similar interval between DLC releases. You could be right and we may get it in Summer 2010 but I would say it is more realistic to expect it autumn/winter 2010 for TBoGT. CC you really think it will be out before Christmas? I would expect it to arrive in April 2010 or something. I am 100% positive that we will see the 1st DLC on the PC by December. The key indication is the adding of the achievements, you don't add them unless you are about ready to release the addon. As I said this patch smells like a cock up and it wasn't meant to come out for a few more weeks.
Rob.Zombie
And it will be a nice income for R* before christmas. As for TBoGT, I think they'll release it somewhere near easter. CharmingCharlie
I imagine the game will cost the same on the PC that it cost on the xbox 360. In this case 1600 MS points per episode (remember we are in the console world here so we don't use "grown up" money). The really annoying thing is you can't get 1600 ms points you can only get :- Xbox LIVE 500 Microsoft Points bundle - £4.25 Xbox LIVE 1000 Microsoft Points bundle - £8.50 Xbox LIVE 2000 Microsoft Points bundle - £17.00 Xbox LIVE 5000 Microsoft Points bundle - £42.50 So you are going to have to stump up £17.00 to get the 2000 MS points (even though the DLC will only use 1600 MS points (anyone see the blatant con here ?). Now for those of you that don't have a credit card you can pop into any games store and buy MS point cards which you can redeem on the website. As much as we all collectively hate consoles it can be said that they are geared to extorting money out of those without a credit card . You can read more about MS points here (yeah I know it's wikipedia but it is fairly accurate). The one thing I am wondering about the DLC is whether it will be bigger file size wise than the xbox version. The xbox life system of which GFWL is a part of has a limit of 2gbs for DLC. I am wondering if they will run into problems with the PC's high res textures but only time will tell I guess.
