Anyway has I said few posts ago in this same thread, DLC would come and I explained why, maybe my theory was right, after all R* need to make money for Xmas in the PC, and puting DLC in the stores would boost the sales for sure. DLC is there so that Microsoft can receive "exclusive" content for their console...content that, in this instance, takes less time to develop than a whole other city. The engine's already been developed for GTA IV, and with each successive game they use it for, it will have slight upgrades/additions done to it. The developing of a game like a new San Andreas or Vice City, will now take less time and money than IV (Liberty City) did. The DLC is only there because their developmental time has been snapped up by some money that Microsoft was stupid enough to pay them. I also doubt that they have a mole like they claim. I would guess that the TLAD info is based off of the achievements added by the last patch and what they said about BOGT is based off of speculation that if one comes to PC then the other is likely to as well. It only sees the PC as a competitor to it's xbox 360 and since it sees the PC as a competitor it does it's damnedest to ensure the PC has the "weaker" gaming experience. I can tell you now the DLC is not coming to the PC with the blessing of Microsoft but is coming to the PC because they are reaching the point where they won't have any say. I subscribe to the theory that the 50 million DLC deal was a "loan" and in return for loaning Rockstar the money Microsoft got 1 year exclusivity to each DLC. Now TLaD will be out 1 year in February 2010 so there are only a few months of exclusivity left for TLaD after that Rockstar are free to do whatever the hell they like with TLaD. They could distribute the DLC by steam or a whole host of other download services. Microsoft knowing that their control over the DLC is slipping are begrudgingly letting the PC get the DLC now. If it is going to come to the PC they might as well get a bit of use out of it on their GFWL. I bet they just didn't expect it to happen this soon. This achievement f*ck up has caught everyone on the hop and they don't know what the hell to do. I mean it is now day 2 and not a peep from Rockstar about all this, they are probably burying their head in the sand and going "la la la la la la la la la". @sgt.slaughter - believe me MS would love PC gamers to "go away", you have to understand the Windows OS sells and not because of gaming. If Microsoft killed off windows ability to play games tomorrow they wouldn't lose much in the way of OS sales (ok people like me would f*ck off to linux but I am in the minority). Microsofts strategy is simple they want you gaming on their console and doing your internet surfing on a PC with their operating system. After all don't you find it curious that Microsoft the creator of the most popular web browser on the planet didn't bother to include the browser on their console , It's because that would eat into PC OS sales (why buy a PC to browse the net if the xbox can do it). In October, 2001, GTA III was released. Around the month of May, 2002, Vice City (the next game in the series) was announced. noid449 Posted November 12, 2009 Share Posted November 12, 2009 i dont care for the dlc , i dont care for the way m$ push for exclusive , i do care for a quality product and a good strong story line. if that means it takes a while longer making and creating the games all good. once the dlc has been made for the xbox and the m$ people have had their exclusive, then dudes let us all have some fun with it, but dont bother releasing it if its going to be like the first release of gta iv all buggy and sh*ttty. just pool resources and lets get on with the next episode of gta for the pc. hopefully learn a little from the release of gtaiv and the mods and updates that have came from it. id still rather wait an extra 3 months or longer if its not finished ...... I can understand why the naysayers are not happy about the DLC but I for one cannot wait to play the DLC on the PC. I would of course prefer to skip TLaD and go straight to TBoGT but this is the way it has to be. I certainly don't mind slapping down a tenner for the DLC to get a bit more life out of GTA 4. After all the DLC will be the last GTA content the PC gets for the next 2 years. Plus it is another opportunity to show Rockstar that they are wrong to treat the PC with such disdain . Preventing modding in MP is one thing, to also prevent it in SP is yet another, I will not be bothered to spend money on a game, that cannot be modded. Too bad Rockstar, you really aren't doing yourself any favours, Mods make the game so much more playable and fun, preventing mods still doesn't make the game mediocre, but it's shelf life is so much shorter. The main reason why GTAIV is such a great game, is that beside the missions and sub missions, the engine allows for great game play. Scriptmods that let you spawn and move objects, peds and cars, are indispensible to be able to take full advantage of this engine. Now you seem to forcefully prevent this since patch 5, therefore in reality, besides misions and sub missions, there isn't much left to do in GTAIV and since we cannot use script mods in SP, I don't see any reason to spend money on a game that I stop playing after I've done all the missions. I guess instead of really preventing MP cheating in a proper way, you took the cheap way out, and preventing modding alltogether. That you cut the potential of your own game apparently is of no concern, in the end I think it will lower your sales.
