I wouldn't be surprised if the first episode is retitled Grand Theft Auto: The Lost and Damned when it appears in Grand Theft Auto: Episodes (which also doesn't have IV in the title). Grand Theft Auto IV will then refer only to Niko's story.

EDIT:  Speaking of titles, this forum title should probably start with "The" since the game is The Ballad of Gay Tony. And since we have TLAD rather than LAD, shouldn't the abbreviation be TBOGT, not BOGT?

I bet one of the reasons why they dropped off the "IV" was because of the poor sales figures of TLAD. And that's defenitly why they're putting out the stand alone discs. Which, if you remember, wasn't originaly part of thier vision for the extended content.

People are more willing to buy a new GTA title rather than an add on for a GTA game they already have. Take out the "IV" and maybe more people will think it's a new game.

Poor sales? 2 million downloads and counting is poor? Get your facts straight.

For GTA, it is poor sales.

here's your facts...

What it comes down to is simple. There are a lot of casual gamers out there who picked up GTA because of the name and because they want to just drive and mess around. Story isn't as important to them. It doesn't make sense for them to pay another $20 to extend the story, and then another $20 now. Why should they pay something close to $100 when they already paid $65 for the full game? That is the fundamental flaw of DLC... it's stuff that should not have been taken out in the first place but is so they can make more money.

Either way considering that the game made around $500 million in sales while the DLC only made a fraction of that. If you split it into two - $250 million in sales for 360, then it's a very small fraction of the users. If it was a runaway success Take-Two would have posted the figures by now. The reason there was multi-player and DLC was to help sell more XBL and stuff.

Nice, concise and helpful work, and quickly done too, as usual. icon14.gif Now, shouldn't you be a led by now? tounge.gif

There are no facts in that. It's an outside analyst speculating. Take Two has not released the number of downloads so his number is a guess, and the idea that Microsoft's $50 million was an advance and so Take Two gets no more money is based on old speculation. The terms of the deal are confidential and no one knows how the $20 is split.

Take a read of the Character or Questions section.

Luis Lopez is a 25-yr old Dominican-American gangster who was born in Liberty City and lives in the Northwood area. Working as an assistant to Tony Prince ('Gay Tony') and a doorman for Tony's nightclubs, Luis is a street gangster who gets caught up in a world of glitz.

You play as Luis, but he works for Gay Tony as an assistant and bodyguard.

I just saw on IGN, IGN have set the release date to: September 30th 2009, could add that as speculation.

Also, mate I got some info from TLaD on the Tampa:

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=412437&st=20

Where? Just checked their site and it says: Release Date: Q3 2009/Unreleased (UK)

And thanks, I'll add a link to that post to the Tampa speculation section.

Weird, for the US region it's showing that as the release date but for the UK it says Q3 2009/Unreleased. Oh well, I will add that to the Speculation section, thanks.

Yet again...

We return...

Will tow trucks tow?

Can we attach trailers to trucks?

TURN SIGNALS FOR CARS???

Nah. Probably not. Don't want to be let down again. Can't even trust strategy guides or even the internet anymore...

So. Anything TRULY interesting?

So. Anything TRULY interesting?

Nothing has been released in the way of gameplay or feature announcements. Obviously there will be a few new features, but these new episodic packs don't really concentrate on adding a load of new features, but interweaving stories. Having said that, it's a given that there will be new content included such as weapons and vehicles.

Nobody ever actually said that the Towtruck would include the ability to tow, although there's a chance that due to its high demand Rockstar could include the feature in this pack (Providing all content from the Lost and Damned is available in this episode).

On the TLaD website...

"While not exactly a speedy escape vehicle, the Towtruck does have it's own unique benefits."

It doesn't exactly spell it out but seriously. That's easily misunderstood. I was quite happy when I heard the tow truck was back...

Is it THAT hard to use the script from that one mission and let us tow cars whenever we want???

Anyway. They're going to announce at least eight to ten new features, cars, goodies, etc, and only include two...So.

In a bit I'm going to go searching through the internet on TLAD (it has all the articles + the ones in the DLC) and look for any information relating to Gay Tony, Maisonette 9, Hercules, Luis Lopez and Ancelotti activity, and even the diamonds and the Platypus. I'll post my findings later.

Putting this and TLAD on disc and not needing the GTA IV disc to play them is an honorable move on RS's part.

Nikole Bellic

A seperate disc containing both DLCs? Well, thank god for small miracles because at this rate, who knows when I'll ever be able to get high-speed internet therefore allowing me to get Xbox Live. Hopefully before 9/30/09 but if not, at least now I know I'll eventually be able to play the DLCs.

In any case, it'll be interesting to see what new developments come about. Will definitely watch this thread closely.

He's in missions, he's been in the in game media, you don't actually play as him anyway you play as Luis his bodyguard. Who is also in multiple missions. And it's not a random storyline, it's filling in the gaps in the IV soryline and with TLaD.

Can I suggest you either a) play the game so you know what's going on, or b) read some of the many, many, many posts explaining whats going on. Or sumthing.

Oh and if I haven't already said it, great post Enjoii.

It's Autumn, my boy.

Oh when will you British learn... tounge.gif

Edit: Wait, is this for real? I thought this was just a joke topic in the GTA IV section but then I noticed there was actually a section for this. lol.gif

Yeah it's for real, it can be seen on the TakeTwo website.

And yeah, I changed the Fall to Fall (Autumn), thanks for pointing it out.

When the newbs are all over the First info, timely manner, and put together like an Office Professional, it's impressive. I'll give you that! hahaha

Mostly newer members get hazed... in a way.

Thing about it is, I signed up to RN's mail as well, but I can't recall where I heard the news first. It certainly seemed like a joke name for it, and people having to play a BLACK man in GTA SA were upset, those guys I'll love this one!

Another article I spotted although there's no info, it's just talking about the release date:

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/27/analyst-...-release-dates/

Haven't added it to the main post, because as I said there's nothing much to it.

This article leads me to believe that Mike Hickey is an idiot. Why would the DLC get delayed until 2011? Thats completely foolish imo.

we might see the next installment around that time.... but to think the DLC is getting pushed back that far is foolish

Exactly. In his opinion, but what the hell has he got to do with it?

Great! Can't wait to play something new.

Btw. Isn't Tony the Guy with the Shades and the Tracksuit in the Mission: Diamond's are a girls best friend? The Mission where you go with Packie and Gracie and switch her for the diamonds.

The other Guy is Luis I guess.

Am I right?

Sorry for my English, hehe German biggrin.gif
