[REL|GTAIV] First Person

You cant see the mission chevrons when you are first person viewing in the car. If you blow out the windscreen it fixes the problem but that sort of seems a bit silly. Is this problem similar to the traffic light problems the mod had in an earlier version?

All the best

Andy

----edit----

This sort of makes it difficult to see the cars you are meant to be chasing or the exact spot you need to drive onto to accept a new mission etc...

There happend to be a scripting native that allowed the traffic lights to be viewed through glass. This made it easy for me to toggle it.

Its used where you sit in a taxi and in a taxi yo don't have to worry about chevrons.

To get chevrons seen would take a lot of work if its possible at all.

Where lucky its as good as it is, looking through simulated glass in many games often has many bugs.

Is there a tool to enable/force high textures for specific things (peds, niko, cars) and leave the rest at low? high all fails

Remove the mipmaps from Niko's textures.

How do you do that? dontgetit.gif

easiest way it to change levels in playerped.rpf with openIV to 1 fro every texture you don't want to mipmap.

this can't be applied on texture files that were saved in sparkIV.

I'm the one who got an error message when starting the last version of First Person Driver and who couldn't look up and down in vehicles using the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller. Now, with First Person, things are a little different. The error seems to be gone, but now I can't even look up and down while on foot. Also, when I'm in a vehicle, looking left and right is significantly slower than it used to be with FPD, I think it's the same camera speed the original bumper cam has. These things combined pretty much make the whole mod useless for me at the moment confused.gif

It all seems to work flawlessly using mouse & keyboard.

try turning direct input off in options, or if its off turn it on.

You can alter the sensitivity in the ini for the joystick , i changed it to match aiming on foot rates. It was a little fast at the edges by default.

This is absolutely awesome, C06alt! colgate.gif From what I've seen it's an improved version of the FPDriver, right?

Your idea with binding the FPP view to the "V" with tapping was great. It feels like this mod is really part of the game. In addition, Niko's eyeballs don't float in the air like in the FPDriver. This mod is simply WOW! Please keep supporting it. colgate.gif

I am enjoying the mod, but I can't seem to get in first person view when Nico is walking around. I changed the camera views, but it stays in 3rd person views instead of going to first person. However, the mod works great when I get in any vehicle. Am I doing something wrong? It worked the first time I started up the game after installing the mod, but after that it won't work. Maybe I am not pressing the correct button. Suggestions would be appreciated.

On foot you have to double tap the view key which means press it twice within about one second. do it quicker and quicker untill you find the needed speed. its quite a fast double tap but then that helps avoid conflicts.

DirectInput was turned on, but unfortunately turning it off didn't help.

Like I said, in First Person Driver I the camera control on foot was okay, but only in vehicles I couldn't look up and down. Now it's the same on foot, but aiming a weapon from the first person perspective works.

Interestingly, when I press the left trigger, the one used for aiming, only lightly, Niko aims the gun, the crosshair doesn't show, and if he raises or lowers the aim the camera doesn't move. If I press it more, the crosshair appears and the camera properly follows the aim, just as it should be.

[edit]

A friend of mine, who uses a wired Xbox 360 Controller, has just confirmed that he has the very same problem.

@Syrion Thanks that information. I needed to know about the triggers. Only way im going be able to do this is bite the bullet and buy a damn xcon controller.

currently i use a ps3 pad. Does pool and bowling work normaly for you with your controller?

@lilmcnessy What do you prefer about the old version?

@lilmcnessy What do you prefer about the old version?

It was easier to activate the first person mode and it had a better view

but maybe i could edit the view to make it look the same

Try

FootFovMod = 0

in your ini.

This will zoom things in a bit on foot as it was in fpd making the fov 45 degrees unzoomed as it is in 3rd person.

Maybe this is what you see is the problem with the view.

Are you having trouble activating the firstperson view on foot?

do you think it needs a longer time between taps?

I kinda liked looking right around but it but be better to keep that the same

I dont like click V to change it, I want a custom key so that i is instant

I just found this curious behavior: on foot if you look to the side and hit the view restraint too quickly, the view jumps to the restraint on the other side.

EDIT: It stopped happening and now I can't reproduce it.

This bug has reappeared for me every once in a while. It seems to happen only when hitting the left-side view constraint too fast. Won't be an issue for me in the next version because I'll turn off constraints in the ini, but I thought I'd let you know.

Wondering if it would be possible to make the camera pan when locking with the car (when flipping). Currently the car flips and the view stays the same until suddenly the car reaches the required angle and the camera snaps onto the car's horizon.

Yesterday evening I've played 4 hours only in first person view... awesome!

Some funny Bugs I found out:

The camera sometimes like to stay where it is after cutscenes.

Not too bad at all, it gives a funny perpective to some situation^^

This on foot and also in while driving.

And the interior of some savehouse won't appear.

Quick changing the camera and it's gone... nothing serious.

Very nice work! icon14.gifbiggrin.gif

I've noticed this mod kills my FPS just if it's running. Without the mod, I get an average of 25-45 fps. With the mod just running and loaded into the asi loader, without even enabling first person, my FPS is more like 15-30. It's definitely the first person mod and nothing else that's causing my FPS drop. Why would this happen?

Hey there mate,

Do you use BtSix for the PS3 controller?

That's what I use and it's pretty cool.

Havent checked here for a while but see a new version is out - will grab soon. Be great to get rid of the crash on exit and check out the new features.

Thanks for continuing to devep this awesome piece of kit.

EDIT: Just realised this is a brand new version of the mod.. Superb.. Can't wait to try it out. The constraints sound good as before the whole Niko wind pipe was weird..
