The best vantage points to shoot people/cops ?

in the past gta's i always had a spot where i can post up and shoot people & cops when they came for me. places where u have cover & cant get shot at. like in vice city i used to stand behind the counter and shoot cops when they would come to the door and i would come by the door blowing ish up. etc. im tryn find a good spot like that in this one but cant, cops have a way of gettin to u no matter where u go, and if a place is good to hide in, theres not many people around.

If you go to the Libertonian museum in Middle park, Algonquin, to the rear is a set of ladders that ascends to a scaffolding platform, I usually kill a cop, get 3 stars and go up there, its a brilliant hiding spot and the cops seem to continuously climb the ladder and meet a bullet or two to send them back down. After 10 minuites or so there will be an abundance of bodies lay on the floor below.

The hospitals you can go inside, go down the end of the corridor and cover behind one of the walls, you can blindfire at anyone coming at you, and you will never die!

A good spot to do shootouts without taking much damage is in the Cluckin' Bell in Star Junction. If you go behind the counter and take cover at the very end of the row in between the counter and the wall (Sorry if this isn't descriptive enough, I can post a picture if necessary) you can get a perfect angle on any cops that come in. You can shoot anyone coming in the front door and if anyone makes into the back room behind the counter, you can quickly turn and shoot them before they can get you.

Another good place for shootouts could be the internet cafes, or Majestic Hotel lobby. I've gotten up to six stars by staying behind the counter and just shooting. I've done the same thing at the Cluckin Bell and hospital (as mentioned before). The reason why they're easy places is because there's only one way in and out (no cops can come in from behind you), and because you can have clear shots at anybody coming in.

Don't hide behind the counter in cluckin bell, it's a sh*tty place. Take cover at the wall infront of the entrance of cluckin bell. Position yourself properly and you'll be as good as invincible. You have a good view of the only entrance and you can shoot blindly quite accurately. It's really fun, I used to do it with even pistols and desert eagles killing all the FIB and special units. And make sure you have rpgs too, when there's a whole lot of bodies at the entrance you fire an rpg or throw a molotov cocktail and there's a wall of flame lol. It's really fun to see the cops try to get you and catch on fire. And you also get to see all the vehicles infront of the entrance like a real shootout and you can bust them up if you want to, though it'll cause a major frame rate drop. Have fun.

 

@Proxy About the scaffolding, is it really useful? Will the choppers be able to get you? Or can you just sit there and just shoot anyone climbing up the ladder without getting shot at?

The top levels let you inside the ship, but if you go in from the deck of the ship, the door's locked. There's good cover next to the bridge, too. My favourite part of the thing is that you can go to the kitchen and mess hall of the ship, and you can see the cops trying to get in through the window.

i have a spot near star junction where you can remain with 6 stars as long as you want. no one can touch you, unless you're careless. you can stay there all day. kill as many cops as they can throw at you. however, i like the fact that no one really knows about it, so i'll keep it that way.

the tunnel entrance (NO WAY ON THE SUBWAY), one health pack, easy to avoid getting shot and to lose the stars (run/drive into the tunnel) or shoot helicopters (they most likely won't hit you)

 

the poop deck (dunno if it's poop deck or pier 45), the one where you meet bernie and sara.

- lots of sprunk, hot dogs, nuts and one health pack.

you can block the front stairs with cars and and shoot the place like in the last scene in scarface.

Places hmm why everyone choose interior...get on some building around times square and shoot ppl with sniper and rpg its great too...

The northern most tip of algonquin. There is a silo with a ladder and a small space. Its about 8 stories high and the cops consistantly go up the ladder. When you shoot the cop that's highest he will fall and hit the cops below him and then they will fall. Only thing you have to watch for is the helis.

The subway station on the northern end of Middle Park. You can hide behind a wall and shoot peds and cops as they come down the stairs and take almost no damage if you pay attention. You can keep gathering plenty of ammo from all the dead bodies as well. Also there is a health pick up on one of the columns should you start to run low.

Well, theres two levels before you can reach the roof, I stay neatly tucked in the bottom on in the corner with a shotgun at the ready, nobody can get you there.

The building next to the Triangle club. The one with no entrance other than the windows. You can jump and grab the ledge from a vehicle, or jump on an angle from the top of the little wall/barrier in the Triangle club's parking lot.

 

As mentioned, the museum is nice too.

 

The one building in port Tudor with a ladder up the top, that you can enter through a half open "garage" type door.

 

There are quite a few multistory buildings with interiors and only one entrance that are decent.

 

The three story carpark by the pay n spray on the west side of Algonquin.

 

These next ones don't offer as much cover, but they're still fun, and while you have an advantage it isn't completely cheap.

 

The roof of the hospital on the North side of Algonquin a block or two away from Playboy's. They come up the stairwell on the west side of the building.

 

The old casino on the west side of Alderney.

 

The carpark with the unique jump on top in Northern Alderney a block or so from the motorcycle shop. They come up the stairs and the ramps the cars would take.

 

A few of the area's in Acter (south of Alderney) where there are multistory walkway/gangway/scaffolding things around industrial buildings.

 

The old "railway" looking bridge that has a unique jump off it's end, where one of the Most Wanted missions happen.

 

Those all have varying levels of protection for a prolonged standoff, some you can hold off almost forever, then drive off in a car you brought with you. Some others they have a better chance at getting a shot or two off. To be honest they're all much more fun when you're in MP holding off the cops with friends. Doing it in single player isn't as much fun IMO.

I usually go steal a heli from helitours, fly around Algonquin looking for a nice rooftop that I can still see pedestrians from, preferably one that I can stand on the edge without falling off.

 

Of course I always bring full ammo for every gun, because you use ALL of it trying to fight off the cops and black hawks that are up your ass. Damn you Swat.

The airport near the helicopters. It is a open space where you can easly get shot but I stayed alive for 53 minutes and escaped so I can say is a good spot. Why? There is an armor right here behind that red and white thing. I also buyed lots of M4 ammo from Jacob before going to this. The NOOSE and helicopter also give ammo if needed.Another thing is that in the airport the max wanted level is 4 so is a good place to take revenge in the cops whitout too much trouble.

Another one I forgot to mention is the roof of the precinct in Lancaster where the helipad is. Once you've beaten the game and the Annihilator is unlocked, you can get in a massive shooout with the cops while ducking behind one of the rooftop vents and waiting for them to come through the doors. When you start running low on ammo, you can escape with the annihilator. I usually head for Happiness Island and steall a boat from there to lose the wanted level.

There is an industrial site in southerneast bohan, drive down, climb the ladders and shoot all the workers until the police start climbing the ladders. Obviously spending some $ on rocket launcher ammo is a good idea for the choppers.

Inside any [email protected] internet cafe is good. Go to the back row of computers and stand by the column and pick them off when they come in the door, toss and few molotovs and you can have a cookout lol.

 

That one construction crane in Algonquin is good as well, right by the office of the mystery government agency.

In Dukes there is a Building with P.45 in big letters on it that looks like this... .

On top of that there is a small room with no windows where it provides cover from cops on the ground and choppers. But you need a heli to get up there.
