Eminence
Well, we all know the premise - a story where everyone chips in, paragraph by paragraph, sentence by sentence. Let's see what happens. Now, before we start, we need to lay down a few groundrules: • In order to post, you must first sign up. Posts by people who aren't registered should be disregarded and will be deleted. • Posts must be two sentences as a minimum, two paragraphs as a maximum. • Posts must adhere to the current story arc, designed as the story progresses. • Story arcs must be suggested in advance to ensure that the story remains structured. Now, the problem with these sorts of things usually lies in the structure of the story, and the fact that one wrong turn could really disrupt the flow of the entire thing. To remove this problem, the 'story arc' idea is in place to keep things structured. A story arc dictates what is going to happen now - and next - in the story. They will be measured in posts - so, for example, we could dictate that 'Story Arc A' will last for between 2 and 5 posts (which will become clear as the event is written), and that this arc will then be followed by 'Story Arc B', which may last for between 5 and 10 posts. At any time, a future story arc may be suggested as a footnote to a submitted story segment, and if it fits, it will be included. Of course, each arc can only be added onto the end of the currently planned structure to the story - so that things can't shoot off onto tangents. So, that's the basic idea. If people are interested, then let it be known now - and we can come up with an agreed premise and a few plot points that could get us going. And feel free to make any further ideas known; let's try and really get this going, and not end up with a failed attempt at another project! The aim is for this thing to be real fast moving, with parts being added on all the time. Nothing too complicated, nothing too long - just something fun, active and enjoyable that we can partake in without delay.
The Unvirginiser
A nice kick up the arse for WD. Let's start with some story propositions... • A detective Story, solving a case, or tracking down a criminal. • A soldier and his experiences in a war. Perhaps a Russian as he advances towards Hitler's bunker? A genetically modified super soldier fighting aliens? A mercenary in a war zone? • A comedy, where we have a hoot comparing contributions in terms of comical value.
Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
Hey... I remember this. Okay, I want in. The 2 paragraph maximum will be kind of a bitch, but whatev. Let's do a Crank-style, fast-paced story. Only, much more structured and believable. Something like, guy on a phone is giving orders and protagonist must obey or bad sh*t happens. Simple enough. Eminence
The 2 paragraph maximum will be kind of a bitch, but whatev. There's a couple reasons for that. The first is to keep the pace - we want everyone else to not be put off, and to just read and get involved quickly. Walls of text will force people away. The second is to ensure fragmentation. Nobody should monopolise events or arcs, and be able to write an entire section. It should be split up between as many people as possible to ensure as many ideas, styles and such are placed into a small amount of space. Keep the ideas rolling in. The Unvirginiser
I like the fast paced 'Crank' idea, pathetically the telephone bit. It could be a typical 'Do as I say or I'll molest and sodomise your daughter' type thing. • A bank robbery and the escape from the police so that they aren't captured and sodomised in prison. • A rouge cowboy rides in to town to take revenge on a load of men who abused him and bullied him as a child. I thought the idea was that we weren't going to be like that in this forum?
Eminence
Anyone's free to join, there's no specific requirement. The point is just that people who do contribute to this story will be up-to-date with what's going on and that they'll actually be involved in it, as opposed to people randomly coming in and adding sections at their leisure. Goose, you're allowed to join in, don't worry. This piece isn't about skill of any sort, it's just about collaboration.
The Unvirginiser
I didn't mean it like that, I just meant that people should sign up where we have an idea of their writing skill. So that a guy who just joined yesterday who can't get his head round the keyboard can't destroy the story. I'm sure Goose is a competent writer, but for all we know, he might not be. So really, we should have get an idea by posting some work in WD. Believe me, if anybody wants to stray away from the bouncer like approach of... 'Sorry lads, only regulars tonight' it's me. Vercetti21
Or we could just, you know, not be elitists. It's for fun. I'm in. Ideas? An assassin working his way up the ranks from street thug to professional. A GTA-style, "do this for that person" and "that for this person", loose narrative style. Perhaps someone close to the protagonist has been kidnapped and our character has a score to settle? A drug dealer's everyday adventures. Makes for an exciting life. A man wins the lottery and indulges in some of his wildest dreams and fantasies. Perfect answer to the "what would you do if you won a million dollars?" question, with a twist. What adventures will he pursue? Will he get mugged? Will he become involved in a scam and lose it all? A prison drama. Futuristic war. A story about a man who can time travel. A superhero. A 20's & 30's intricate mafia story. A comedy with a laughable character, a la Joe Dirt. Yeah yeah, some of those are pretty generic, but f*ck you. They're just some ideas off the top of my head. Personally I'd love to have a story that involves some sort of travel so that we're not stuck in the same setting all the way through. Maybe somebody who travels internationally, through time, across galaxies, whatever. Edited May 24, 2009 by Vercetti21

Rhoda
so who's going to start? i wouldn't mind stepping up if nobody objects. i suppose that the OP makes the call on that one, though. We've no idea on a set theme yet and I reckon there's a lot of rules to set up, no matter how loose they're going to be.
Typhus
If you're after a theme then why not just make it a detective story. Something very simple - the hunt for a killer. Let's face it, this is a GTA forum, right? So, logically, we must all have some interest in crime fiction. The thought of all these minds working on a serial killer type story actually makes me quite excited.
Oxidizer
I think all agreeing on a single theme (not to mention the actual storyline ) is gonna be the most difficult and time-consuming part. But I'm with Typhus on the crime front.

Face McDougal
Should create a list of people who will be involved and put an order to it. Like I always post after Oxidizer and before MK for instance... that way someone doesn't take the time out to post something and after doing so discovers someone snuck it in first.
